@WildAnime FWIW, going along with what Flutterdash said, have you checked eBay recently to see if there are any affordable trading cards? I check there periodically hoping that someone put a cheap Rainbow Dash up there. It is good to see what is out there.

Get your gold cards on Toywiz. Or eBay.

Toywiz is pretty much not a possibilty for me. I looked at their prices long ago and they are ridiculously high, even more so than some eBay prices. Looking at Toywiz again just now, it appears their prices have gone up.

 

I do keep a close eye on eBay. I've gotten a few standard and parallel foil cards that way for super cheap through auction style bidding for less than $1 each time. The golds, however, are a completely different story. My stash of disposable cash is microscopic and is not easily replenished, so I can't be dropping a bunch of money on gold cards. My best bet for gold cards on eBay is to wait for someone to put one or more on auction style bidding and hope I can get one for cheap that way. I've seen some gold box topper cards go for less than $10 for each card with auction style, but I'm always out bid by a sniper or someone's automatic bid.

 

Trading your Pinkie Pie for a gold card is NOT a fair trade. You can buy gold cards from sellers for $20 each. That Pinkie Pie card is worth far more than that, as you could see.

 

Or you could trade the one Pinkie card for 5 gold cards, but that still doesn't seem fair because as I said before, you can get a gold card from a retailer like Toywiz. You can't get that Pinkie card from a retailer normally.

 

That is just my advice. If you want to trade it, trade it for another autograph card or a rare series 1 promo.

My plan was to find someone that has extras of both the promos and golds on my list that wants my autographed Pinkie. I know my chances of finding someone like that is slim, but figured I'd give it a try and see if I'm lucky enough to find that one person.

 

 

Have you checked eBay for an AJ series 1 promo recently? I do not know the prices but I think that AJ is way less expensive than Rarity, RD, Derpy, etc.

AJ isn't very expensive anymore. I got mine just a couple of weeks ago for $35. If you really don't want that Pinkie card, you may just want to put it on eBay, and buy most of the things you want with the money you get. It may not be in time for Christmas, but you'll get the full value of you card,and you don't have to risk getting ripped off here or on another trading site.

I do check eBay periodically. I'm always putting cards I want to keep an eye on into my watch list to see how they do when the auctions end for them.

 

AJ and Derpy promo prices have dropped dramatically, in comparison to how they used to be a year ago. AJ has been selling mostly for between $25-$45 (up to $75 or $80 on rare occassions.) Derpy has been selling for $20-$35. There was a Derpy promo that just sold for $8, but I totally missed out on the end of that auction due to unforseen circumstances.

 

I like FlutterDash4072's idea about putting my Pinkie card on eBay and then use whatever money I get for it to buy what I'm looking for. Yea, it most likely wouldn't be in time for Christmas, but I can try for my sister's birthday instead, which is late next month.

 

I've never sold anything on eBay before, though. I've thought about before, but I'm a bit scared off from selling on eBay due to the horror stories I've read while doing research on the topic. I'm not comfortable yet going that route.

@WildAnime: some of the gold card prices are ridiculous on Toywiz, and they increase in price when they have less to sell. But right now G5 Discord is $15 so I think that that is a great deal. G2 Luna has been $25 before but you know how people will pay anything for her.

 

Also, I have sold on ebay and it is safe. What kind of horror stories have you heard? Craigslist I understand, but eBay is pretty safe.

There have been an army of eBay sellers that have had their eBay/PayPal accounts limited, frozen, or suspended for the stupidest reasons ever since eBay bought PayPal a few years ago.  Many of these sellers are eBay veterans that have been with eBay for a great many years with perfect or near perfect customer feedback.  Then..WHAM! Out of nowhere these veteran's accounts are hit.  I could write a novel on what I've read, but it would probably be easier for me to say (and not to derail this thread more), google "eBay (and/or) PayPal complaints," or "ebay (and/or) PayPal reviews."  You'll find a long list of story, after story, after story of sellers, and a hanful of buyers, who have been wronged by eBay/PayPal due to the business's flawed system and extremely poor customer service.

 

One I've read constantly is about scammy buyers that uses eBay/PayPal's system to scam sellers out of merchandise.  Basically, these buyers will purchase something from a seller, then after recieving it the buyer will submit some type of false claim using "buyer protection"  that the item didn't arrive (regardless if the seller used delivery comfirmation), the item was damaged, or some other bogus lie.  Then eBay/PayPal refunds the buyer with no questions asked and leaves the seller with a loss.  Apparently, it doesn't matter what the seller says to defend him/her self because eBay/PayPal always takes the side of the buyer and never the seller.  The seller can't even leave negative feedback for a bad customer anymore because eBay only allows the seller to leave postive feedback, while in the meantime the buyer can leave negative feedback all they want.

 

I guess I better say somethng card related now, since this is a MLP trading card thread.  That autographed Pinkie card I linked to on eBay had finally sold for $183.78.  Pretty impressive.  Gives me a little bit of hope if I ever gather up enough courage to try selling my own autographed Pinkie on eBay.  Though, there's always a possibilty that my Pinkie won't do as well.  These are "auctions" after all.  You never truly know untill all is said and done.

See, I dunno, if this was a widespread issue, people would not be selling their products on eBay on a regular basis. Also I have sold on eBay and I remember being able to leave negative feedback for buyers (though all of the buyers I had were good).

 

I just feel like with MLP cards it is worth a shot. The people who want them will pay for them. I feel like the majority of sellers on eBay do not experience these scams. The fact that I have been using eBay for a few years and this is the first time I have heard of this tells me that, yes, it has happened, but it is not an everyday occurance.

It shows that there are important people who are aware of the scams and they want to protect the seller from being ripped off as well.

And I was surprised to find out they have two Value Packs in them, the ones with the filly puzzle pieces that were only available at Dollar Tree. I didn't get the piece I need, but there's a chance they'll also be in the other products Enterplay is releasing. So even if I don't pull any on my own, they should be easy to find on eBay.

It came with 4 small packs and only two of them had puzzle pieces. The other two packs didn't have 8 cards like the rest of them do. One pack had a Crystal Empire puzzle piece and the other had a regular sticker.

According to what I've heard, she's supposed to be available in a product, but I haven't heard anything about a release date yet. The only promo we know nothing about is Smarty Pants. (Yes, they're giving Twilight's doll a promo. Go figure.)

 

Also, I can't help but wonder what they were thinking when they designed the card. I know she's not the most popular pony, but using the same picture for both promos is just lame.

Haven't found any of the new boxes at my local stores, so gonna check again when I'm back at school.

 

Found a Princess Luna promo on eBay, so snatched it up kinda quickly. Most promos were available at really low prices. There's an auction for the Rarity promo (S1 F40) at $100; it could certainly increase in the last few hours, but seems worth mentioning.

 

On another note, Enterplay's facebook page seems like a fairly good source of updates. Still need to fiddle with EQD to find news there though x3

They've already confirmed a series 3 of trading cards. It'll probably be out sometime after season 4 is finished.

I only just recently noticed how legit the cards have become Moving on from simple packs to actual deck boxes with custom art and color designing, series' lists, holo cards <3 This made me very happy to find out. Trading cards are a massive part of my history of being in fandoms. I started collecting Yu-Gi-Oh cards when my cousin introduced them to me at around ten, and since then, I've collected trading cards of every major fandom I've been apart of, highlights being Naruto & One Piece. Now, MLP has advanced its' trading cards to the same level of other card series. Again, I cannot reiterate how happy I am.

In relation to the CCG, they also have the deck boxes with Rarity and Applejack foils. I may get those as well.

I got my Discord box in the mail today. No luck on my missing puzzle piece, but I did pull an extra Luna gold foil in the box, which will be going on eBay when I'm a little less lazy. That one paid for itself.
