Silver Storm heard the hoof-steps come closer and closer....then they stopped which is what Silver hadn't hoped for he thought he could just sit there and wait for whoever it was to just pass by but they never did. Then all of a sudden a voice rang out and Silver knew the voice was directing towards him as he could see his eyes staring right down to his.

"Er wait a minute" Silver said quite quickly. Silver then came out of the bushes "I-I'm not a changeling!" He started he wasn't quite sure if this one could see right through his disguise.

"Well, yeah," He replied, "but what's the alternative?" The changeling in disguise planned on dropping him off at an outpost that had been set up out of town, but... Something in him didn't want to see this frightened pony imprisoned and converted. "Let's go! They're coming!"

Darts continued to stare accusingly at the disguised pony. "You might be able to fool some innocent and unsuspecting ponies into believing your tricks, but not me" Darts said, glaring from under his hood. He took a step forward carefully, knowing that if the wind shifted in the slightest that the changeling in front of him would be able to pick up Darts' own scent and his secret would be out, he had spent far to much time alone for his new friend Opal to get scared and run off. "Why don't you save me the trouble of dealing with you and head back where you came from."

"He can see right through my disguise?" Silver questioned himself. Since Ponyville was full of changelings he should've expected that kind of paranoia but still he was able to detect his presence so easily. Something was fishy about this pony but first things first Silver had to convince he was on their side.

"Ok ok you got me" Silver gave in as he released his disguise and in a green flash what stood in front of the two ponies was no longer the cobalt blue pegasus but a space black changeling. "I am a changeling but, please don't hurt me im a friendly and i don't want to hurt anyone seriously i never even agreed with what Chrysalis does" the changeling formerly known as Silver said trying to form somewhat of an alliance between the three.

The act of submission by the changeling surprised Darts, they could be tricky but they usually kept total pride in their hive, unless of course the were abdicates. Then again rules could have changed since his last contact.

"What makes you think I will just trust you like that? I know first hand what changelings like you will do to their unsuspecting victims."

The changeling sighed "Look i understand if you don't trust me, I've been disconnected from the hive for a while....er at least until i found out Ponyville was mostly changelings.....Point is I've lived in harmony with others while taking only small bits of love to keep me sustained but not enough to hurt anypony." The changeling grabbed his saddle bag he had been carrying all the way out here which contained a few basic survival items; An emergency supply of bits, some food and a few other useful tools he was going to use in case the situation would take longer to blow over.

"Here!" The Changeling said aloud as he threw the saddlebag toward Darts "If you can't have my trust you could at least have some supplies for wherever your going besides , it looks like you need it more than i do anyway." the changeling smirked. "I'll just be on my own."

Well, that was a rather convinving argument wasn't it. Shaky cowered close to Mask's side, peering about as though expecting the unseen swarm Mask was talking about would pop out at any moment.

"Okayafteryou," he murmured nervously, keeping a sharp eye out for stragglers.

"Okay, so, I think you take a left here... No, wait, yeah! Left. Darn! Dead end." Mask had completely forgotten the way out of this maze of rubble and ashes. "Ah... Do you have any idea on which way to go?" Mask asked. "Okay, So, I know the camp is a little bit to the west of here" "No! You don't want to take him there! Look at him!" "I have to follow my orders!" "Why?" "...Because!" Mask looked back and forth silently for a minute.

Darts felt something he hadn't experienced in a while, pity. He threw the bag back.

"Keep your supplies, we won't need any for now" he said, he didn't know why but he trusted this changeling, "I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt here, but you better start talking. Tell me everything you know about Chrysalis' plans."

The rather bamboozled Changeling shook his head, getting a bit dizzy from all the twists and turns in the route his would-be rescuer was taking.

"I'm...not really sure. There were others, weren't there...?" he looked vaguely hopeful at the prospect. He remembered hearing other voices outside, shouting to each other to run. So there had to be other survivors out there. There just...had to be.

"I already said i don't know anything about Chrysalis's plan." The changeling said in his defense. "All i know is that it cant be anything but good." He said as he picked up the saddlebag Darts threw back at him he was surprised at the fact he didn't take it. "Well its been nice seeing you two." the changeling said as he was engulfed into green flame and was again his Silver Storm disguise. he began to walk away until he turned around and ask the so-it-seemed pony. "You sure you don't need my supplies?' He asked. I mean i'd be more than happy to give something if you need it and i mean you got another pony with you so it looks like you really do need it more than me."

Mask snapped out of his trance. "What? Oh, erm... Yeah. The were up near the forest, but I'm not sure how to-" Mask's eyes darted to the road. "Wait! That barber shop had a back door, right?" Mask asked anxiously. That shop was near the edge of town, so there probably wouldn't be many obstacles behind it.

The act of kindness shown by the changeling confused Darts. "I have plenty of supplies where I live so we should be fine" he said, for a moment he contemplated inviting this seemingly peaceful changeling to travel with him and Opal, but he still wasn't ready to trust even the most friendly of changelings.

"Wait, before you go there is something I would like you to do for me. All I need to know is what Chrysalis wants here in Equestria, and a changeling spy could be very useful for figuring that out, consider it a chance to prove yourself. How fast can you fly?"

Silver Storm was about to leave when all of a sudden Darts asked him to do a favor. "Uh i don't know dude the whole reason im out here is to be away from the hive." He said but he thought it over for a moment; If he did comply to Darts request he might be able to finally gain his trust and as a added bonus he would know and potentially stop Chrysalis from whatever she was planning. "Hmm i guess i'll try to get whatever information i can." Silver said to Darts. "Oh and dont worry about how fast i can fly im almost as fast as Rainbow Dash....er the changeling that was Rainbow Dash." he corrected himself.

Dart's chuckled, it was very rare that a changeling had a personality. "I'm not blaming you for not wanting to go back, so just be stealthy about it. I doubt Chrysalis will detect you with so many changelings about, so just get as close as you can to her without looking suspicious. She was in the town hall when me and Opal ran out." Darts gestured back towards the direction of Ponyville. "My guess is that she has set up a base there, just intercept a message or something and bring it to me here once you have it, also if you find any ponies trapped in town direct them to here. I'll be waiting."

"Yes, it does..." Shaky glanced back in the direction they'd come from, absently scratching the erratic curls atop his head with a hoof. "Haven't...used it in--in a while...might be a bit difficult to open..."

The quietness of the once bustling little town was starting to get to him. He liked noise. He liked being surrounded in it. Quiet just made everything seem hopeless. Dead. Neither of which he was particularly fond of. He'd stick close to this new companion for as long as possible before heading for the next town. Had to keep going. Had to outrun the swarm. He'd run out of places to hide eventually, but he couldn't think about that.

"Well, okay then! Lets go!" Mask shouted, as he began to walk back to the barber shop. He noticed an ax that somepony probably used for their fire wood during their living days. "Thish should do" Mask said while carrying the ax. He periodically looked back to make sure the the pony who would either be his pray or his own personal escort mission once he made up his mind was still behind him.

Shaky Shears was following alright, but all the while he eyed the ax as though it was a dangerous animal about to strike. He kept expecting Mask to drop it or. He didn't know, something awful to happen. He really didn't like big, sharp objects. Even scissors made him a little anxious.

It was a little depressing coming back into the shop and really SEEING how torn apart it was. He'd been here for so long...and in a matter of a day it was all ruined. The shampoos were spilled over the floor, the scissors either broken or scattered across the floor (though one was embedded into the wall rather ominously), and all of the chairs he'd used were spread around in pieces.

He released a heartbroken sigh.

"...why did they have to come here...?"

"Hmm... Good question." Mask said. He swung the ax at the door a couple of times, leaving a hole small enough to crawl through. "Alright!" Mask dropped the ax, and with a loud clang, it hit the ground. "Lets go!" Mask crawled through the hole, and was happy to find nothing hindering his progress on the other side.

"Right!" Silver Storm said with enthusiasm "Im not sure when ill be back but remember this form as it is what i'll return so that way you wont confuse me for another changeling ok?" Then again Darts could detect changelings well he could probably even distinguish between them as well.

Silver Storm then left contemplating about what Darts really was "Hmm " he thought. while gliding throughout the Everfree forest the person he was "working" for definitely was more than than what met the eye. "Could that pony really be......?"

Darts watched as the strange changeling left, then turned back to Opal. "I need to get you back to my place before anymore changelings show up, the next one might not be so friendly" he said as he propelled himself from the ground with a powerful flap of his wings. "If you're feeling better in the morning then we can come back, maybe figure out what is going on around here, but until then let's just take it slow."

Shadow Opal nodded, lifting into the air once more and following Dart. He was intrigued by the "nice" changeling, probably a one-of-a-kind. It wasn't everyday that you met one. His mind flashed back to reality as he clumsily bump into a tree, and he refocused his vision so he could see where he was going. Not like he knew anyway, he didn't know anything about Dart anyway. "Say, where do you live, if not Ponyville?"

"You'll have to figure that out on your own, you can stay with me until this all goes down, but my house isn't that big" Darts said with a smile. The two flew in silence for a while when Darts' mood became serious, "why are you trusting me like this? For all you know I could be another changeling spy who is leading you into a trap. Hell, I haven't even lowered my hood, you don't even know what I look like yet you still willingly follow me to a strange, unknown place. If I was in your situation I wouldn't trust anypony."

Shadow Opal, grinning, pointed at his stomach. "Mostly the pain in my stomach, but if you really want to know," he replied, still smiling, "Then the best I've got is instinct." Shadow Opal didn't know himself why he was trusting him, but in this situation, it seemed like a good idea.

"Very well" Darts said. He was silent for the rest of the flight.

Darts' house was very small. It had one bedroom, one bathroom, a small kitchen, a comfortable living room, and an attic.

The pair landed in the small garden just before night fell. Darts told Opal to wait outside for a few minutes while he got everything ready. Walking in, Darts threw off his coat, and got to work. First he scooped all of his old wonderbolt trophies off the mantle and deposited them in a canvas sack, a few old pictures hanging on the walls followed suit. A faded, old newspaper with a headline reading: "Famed wonderbolt Darts missing, presumed dead" lay in the corner, untouched for nearly 30 years, it also went into the bag. Finally darts walked into the bedroom and opened the closet. A blue wonderbolt uniform was folded neatly on the dresser. Darts picked it up and examined it closely, his name was still embroidered across the chest in golden thread. A tear slid down his cheek as he lay the uniform gently into the bag.

Once he was happy that no trace of his old life was left in plain sight Darts went to let Opal inside. Hoping that his new friend wouldn't recognize him immediately, since he was no longer wearing his hood, he opened the door. "Sorry for the wait, it's been a while since I've had company."
