Internet Pet Peeves.

The net brings us many great things (like MLP Forums of course), but it bugs us sometimes too. Here are a few things on the Internet that I can do without.

1. Facebook. Everybody talks about how great it is. I had an account for a month and then closed it. It just didn't interest me. I know some people just love it, and it's reunited long-lost family members and good stuff like that, but the appeal is lost on me.

2. Twitter. For folks whose obsession with reporting on every insignificant detail of their lives is too great even for Facebook, there is Twitter.

3. The Youtube comment pages. I look through these hoping to see some people's interesting thoughts on the clip I've just watched...but for every user who contributes something, you get a bunch of them who have no idea what they're talking about or trolls who bring up racism, religion or neo-nazis just to start an argument.

4. The following words/phrases: meme, trope, lolwut, hater and epic fail. I don't even know what a "meme" is, but I know an annoying word when I hear one. MEEEEEEME. Ugh. According to some people, MLP is a meme. Funny, I thought it was a TV show. ;)

I agree with Facebook.

People say 4chan is the asshole of the Internet.

I disagree, Facebook is.

I really don't have any opinion on Twitter. I follow a few game developers there so i guess i'm really not against it.

Youtube comments are hilarious. And i love when someone comment on my video.

I quietly rage inside whenever I see the words "a" and "an" used incorrectly. I'm thinking "don't you know the rule? DONT YOU KNOW IT!? YOU USE AN FOR WORDS THATSTARTWITHAVOWELSLDKFH"

I agree with all your annoyances, like making a facebook account, adding all of your friends, and then not chatting with them at all. It pretty much makes the website a "friend gallery." Youtube comments can be annoying when people argue about a topic that has nothing to do with the video's content, but at the same time, it's where some of the funniest, random comments I've seen have come from.

I never liked facebook, that's for sure. Three fourths of its community are either narcisists, or are only there because of the games ( or even both. )

Another site that I dislike is 9gag. They make the worst OC, use "rage faces", overuse the word "lel" and similar words. I lost it when they called the > "meme arrows" and the anonymous mask "9gag meme mask". Oh god, that rustles my jimmies a lot.

4chan, on the other hand, is a pretty nice place, unlike people think. Once you get used to things posted there, you start to kind of like that place. It's ten times better than 9gag, for example.

Sometimes I hate comments on youtube. It's nice to see top comments with puns and funny jokes, but when people repeat the same thing that was in the video and gets top comment, that infuriates me a lot. Other than that, it's pretty good.

Oh youtube comments haha. Its as if people troll on youtube comments just out of habit. And it's sad because youtube is a good media for new talent to shine. Facebook isnt that bad until people live their lives on it and care about everything put up there. Twitter i hate really because its not anything except what your doing Right Now haha. But trolls i really hate.

I agree with Facebook, but not with twitter. That being said, I don't really use Twitter in a social aspect rather a tool to keep up with companies, and also as a form of notification about when stuff happens. If there's big news, odds are I'll hear about it on twitter first.

I despise 9gag and everything that comes from it, be it the rage comics, "lelelele", or any other of their so called 'funny' memes.

As much as I like 4chan I think the internet would be a better place without it.

4chan isn't the asshole of the internet and neither is facebook.

Facebook is the internet cult of retarded teens.

4chan is the place where Hitler/Holocaust jokes are considered acceptable and funny.

I hate the word "meh". And I mean, I HATE it. It's a word I unfortunately see a lot in the internet too.

Most UberHaxorNova/PewDiePie/Tobuscus vids will have one troll going "ERH MERH GERHD PEWDIE IS BETTER THAN THIS SHIT" or "This guy is copying Nova! Kill him!". I mean, even PewDiePie and The Creatures (The gaming group Nova is from) have made vids on this matter.

And my main pet peeve of all time is people who think Justin Bieber/Chuck Norris jokes are funny. Seriously, on youtube comments people will say ''da dislaik bar is de saiz of jostin beibers benis XD''. I don't like Justin Bieber, but the retarded 7 year olds who think they are clever for that are the worst. Same thing with the Chuck Norris jokes, people still think Chuck Norris jokes are fucking funny... That's really depressing that someone can think that...

MEH.

just kidding. My own pet peeves is just that people who throw the ability to even make a coherent sentence for example:

"i like pones dey so fun u lik ponies 2?"

Alright its not that terrible but you get my point. As for trolls, I don't mind them much most of the time. However, my own problem is only that a good portion of "trolls" are unoriginal idiots. I mean copy and paste for the ride unoriginal. Although most people dislike trolls, I'll give credit where credit is due if their argument sticks out some good solid points and holds itself logically stronger than elmer's glue. However, if another person just copies what that original person made or repeats it constantly, that's not trolling, that's being stupid and there's a difference between real trolling and lazy annoyance.

one thing that I really can't stand are people who have horrible grammar who make lots of new topics on smaller forums. I don't care if you're grammar is perfect, but I want to be able to read what you're saying at least, and all these new topics are pretty annoying.

I also hate it when people end their posts with "'nuff said". I can't even handle it, it's so lame D:

and finally, Justin Beiber jokes. the only reason why I know he exists is because of all these hate jokes. is it really THAT funny? how many years has this been going on for now? same goes for Twilight and other similarly hated things.

EDIT: also topic titles like "my comuter wont work??????????". that's not a question, why are you using so many question marks? D: it's even worse when you click on it and there's no explanation, just more question marks. even worse than that is when you have the same problem as them, and you can't get any answers because all the replies are comments on how dumb they are.

YouTube comment pages are just horrible. It matters however what video it is sometimes. It can be extremely funny as sometimes for some reason all the comments are just really witty. Uncommon however.

I don't have any opinion about facebook or tumblr. Never used any of it and my friends rarely ever talk about it

But there are three things around the internet that just tick me off

  • Any rage comics or meme stuff that contains any variant of 'Le'
  • People who despises 4Chan but never actually visits any subboards other than /b/
  • "Friendship is Magic is the manliest stuff ever!"
Oh please, just buy a power drill and apply it to your forehead

Kidding. I'll agree with the senseless meme usage. It's like using a cheesy pun. It's lame, cringe inducing and makes you look stupid.

Facebook has no place in this world, why does it exist?

I don't like facebook at all >.>, i don't mind twitter though, i follow some game developers to stay up to date and some celebrities that i find either interesting or funny. David Draiman (lead singer for disturbed) tends to post a lot of news stories which i enjoy reading through and Ricky Gervais posts a lot of jokes and interacts with many who tweet him.

Its argued that its now part of socializing with your friends and family. That's all good but what happens when your parents come across pictures of you getting wasted in college shouting YOLO everywhere?

If i wanna socialize with my friends or family i text them or call them or just talk to them in person.

heheeeee welll myyyy personall pett peevee iss reallyyy quitee simplee. peoplee typee likee thissssssss and expectttttt youuuuu toooo takeeeeee themmmmm seriouslyyyyyyyy ;);););)

But yeah, Facebook, to me, is part of my guilty pleasures. I hate the hell out of it because my News Feed can be cluttered with posts such as the one above or drama like "BITCH IMMA STAB U U MESSED WIT DA WRONG BITCH!" or some bullshit. But, at the same time, it's a very useful tool when it comes to organizing parties/events or just making small talk with your close friends.

1. The corruption of terms like 'troll', 'flaming', and 'flame-war': Why back in my day (Lol several years ago) those terms used to have a meaning. An troll used to be an member who was obviously out to get a rise out of others. If you responded to them they wouldn't even make an relevant response, they were only there to insult you and get an rise out of you. Nowadays, 'troll' is just acceptable name-calling for somebody another member disagrees with. Similar loss of meaning has occurred with 'flaming' and 'flame-wars'. Back in my day flame-wars were highly dramatic and were actually hateful. Nowadays, merely arguing with somebody else in an respectable manner gets called an 'flame-war'.

Those terms just need to be retired right now. Nobody knows what they actually mean anymore.

2. The attitude of "It's the internet. Lighten up." As if on the internet we're not supposed to be individuals with feelings anymore.

I'm sure I have more, but that's it right now. I could mention the constant hating on mainstream things as well as how annoying the kids on YouTube who have to comment on older music's videos about how they don't listen to Justin Bieber are, but that's an attitude that is very present off of the internet.
