Is Equestria located on Earth?

I've always used the theory that Equestria is a country in a completely different planet called Hyundai Equus.  However, the thing that confuses me is that Fluttershy mentions a France in "Suited for Success," as well as Applebloom speaking French in "The Cutie Pox." I've always seen this as a version of France that just so happens to be called France on Equus.

Looks like a Pangean continent. Could be a world where the humans fled an over-polluted world, the world got "better" and an asteroid with the potential to mutate earthly ungulates fell to earth. Definitely something mutagenic, because the cover of Elements of Harmony has a long snouted, broad necked horse.

SImple Logical answer:NO 3 reason

1. We went to the moon, no evidence that there was a dark pony princess ever banished there

2. Our sun doesnt rise, it stays in the same place and our moon orbits because of gravity-NOT MAGIC

3. If they were here, they wouldve probably been colonised in the 16th Century

No, I really don't think Equetria is on Earth. It may have Earth-like QUALITIES, but I believe that Equestria is located in another place, universe, ect.

The best explanation would be that Equestria is simply in a totally different place, but they have the same landforms and looks as Earth. They also have similar cultures to Earth, and just happen to be candy-colored ponies who speak good english. :3

I like to think that Equestria, and the ponies on it, are kinda like spirits, and that they have actually visited our world without us knowing it. That's how they seem to know so much about us. The planet itself is probably entirely made of properties that we can't grasp, not even our eyes would tell us (but it's right next door to Earth in any case).

I always thought of Equestria being on completely different planet, sometimes not even that. I  like picturing Equestria as flat ,like how people did in the past. (pre 17th century).

What is the canon explanation for it?

...They literally call the place Earth in an episode. I'd say that's a very specific explanation and, being in the show, obvious canon.

That being said, I believe it's an alternate Earth that is flat and held up by bunnies all the way down. That's why Angel is so grumpy: His entire species is enslaved.

I'd say it's quite obvious to me:

Equestria is a country on a planet in an other universe. All of the movie references, human references and such are what we would call a "coincidence." However, it is not, it is simply the effect of having an infinite amount of universes. Anything has existed, anything will exist, and anything exists. You just need to find it.

Idk, thinking about it now i'm gonna have to say i think its a world of its own, Or rather in a world of its own.

It is however stated in Hearts warming eve that they travel to and name a new land Equestria, so either ponies can space travel, or Equestria is in another world as its own separate place.

I don't believe its a part of earth though. Just has similar life.

At best its an alternate dimension ;p.

I would guess it is Earth, not the earth we know but one of a different universe. A lot believe that this universe isn't the only one. If you've watched the doctor whooves or listen to it rather. They give a rather interesting way to look at it, Imagine a piece of Perforated sheet metal. The kind of metal that has holes in them. Now imagine those holes are universes, and the steal gap between each one is the gap between them. So each one of those you cross over, you end up in a new universe, a new world that no one has ever seen. Maybe Equestria is a universe with in that perforated metal. What you may think is a show that someone designed out of their own mind may actually be truth. Of course there may never be a way to actually prove that. However it is still something to think about.  :)

Heres an idea, its Pangaea! lol

What evidence could be for a god? Because, if god can do anything, surely a lesser being relative to god, could still trick humans without fail if they wanted to. Which means, a being that appears to be god, may not be god. So even if god showed up in person doing anything and everything, for all you know it could be a demon casting illusions or your brain plugged into the matrix. Just because it claims to be a god, does not mean it is. Thus, there is never evidence enough for a god. Which means you cannot have an accurate reason for believing in god.

I actually had a huge discussion with a friend about this. We both agreed that this show takes place somewhere in the future on earth.

The reason for our conclusion is that first of all several places in the world we live in today are referenced. It's unlikely that these names would even be referenced at all if they lived on another planet. Another deciding factor is that there are animals from our world in theirs, which is unlikely to happen if they lived on another planet/universe. Probably the biggest deciding factor though is how they have human tech available to them.

While they don't have high tech computers and weapons, they have items that were made for humans such as saddles and carriages. It's unlikely that a saddle would have been made without a human there, as they were made specifically for humans to hitch rides on them. The architecture is also similar, things like cupcakes are present and the food that they have there, such as the chips, soda, and sandwiches, are all reminiscent of modern day foods. There's also the language.

Language is by far the biggest deciding factor here. With the way that english was created and has evolved, there's no way in hell that any creature would be able to simply learn it without some sort of interaction from a human. It's just impossible for something like this to happen. Unless the history of equestria was exactly like that of humanity, the language they would speak would be wildly different. This asks the question though of why do these ponies even exist and where the hell are the humans?

We hypothesized that humans were purged around the time Discord came along, as he ruled the world with an Iron Fist until Luna and Celestia came around. The slaughtering of innocent people would no doubt cause chaos, and that's all Discord wants.

We were not able to think of why Discord or ponies would even exist, but we agree that humans were somewhere on the timeline.

That would be true if the history of equestria went along with it. Discord wouldn't cause death. He his had many occasions to do it and hasn't. Besides, discord was ruling equestria after the three tribes founded it. It has no relativity to humans. I don't believe any human activity was referred to. And apparently the reason they have human technology is because of the mirrors made by starwsirl. He apparently would go around with celestial gathering knowledge. That's as far as I'm going.

Yes, I believe Equestria is located on Earth. You see France,

http://smartraveller.gov.au/Maps/France.gif

and Equestria.

They seem pretty much alike. Or if that isn't it, Equestria is just another Earth in another dimension where ponies take charge.

I think that Equestria exists about 500,000 years into the future on Earth. Humankind was probably wiped out in a nuclear war. The radiation may have altered some of the animals DNA where some lizards evolved into dragons, horses grew in intelligence over millenia & created their own cities. Perhaps by studying the war that wiped out most of humankind, the ponies developed enough tech for good while avoiding building weapons of war to avoid history repeating in a bad way. Thus the promotion of "Friendship is Magic" rather than world conquest.

There are definitely some serious differences in natural laws.  (Rainbows being made, for instance).  IMO, EQ can't be Earth no matter how far you go into the future. It has to be an alternate dimension.  If you accept the EQ Girls movies, alternate universes are canon.

I can't see Equestria being on Earth considering what we as humans have already done to the atmosphere.

Heck, I don't know if Earth even exists in the same fictional space as Equestria. If Celestia raises the Sun and Luna raises the moon, then clearly it proves that it's all a defiance of modern science.
