Muffins vs Cupcakes: who would choose what?

I am curious to see what you all think about this, If ponyville were to have a city-wide argument over Cupcakes and Muffins, which ponies would be on which side? Derpy and Pinkie Pie are already very well established, odviously, but what about the others?

(PS. your vote will be very helpful in the development of a FanFic I am working on.)

Yeah, I admit. The only reason I chose muffins for Dash was because of that infamous fanfiction. Otherwise I would definately have chosen cupcakes for her. ...But in my mind, I can't help but feel that Dash is subconsciously aware that somehow cupcakes = horrifying agonizing death for her.

For the cup cake side I picked Twilight, Rainbow Dash, Apple Jack, Spike, Bon Bon and Carrot Top. We just see Twilight, RD, AJ, and Spike eating cup cakes more then muffins. As for Bon Bon and Carrot top no reason.

 

For Muffins I picked Rarity, Fluttershy, Lyra, Dr. Whooves. They just seem like they would enjoy those more.

Dash - cupcakes, because you can decorate cupcakes to look awesome.  Seriously, who ever hear of an awesome-looking muffin?

 

Rarity - cupcakes, for the same reason as Dash but replace 'awesome' with 'stylish'

 

Fluttershy - muffins, because they have less sugar and seem more earthy.

 

Applejack - muffins, because an apple-cupcake sounds ridiculous.

 

Spike - cupcakes, because sugar, and I feel like Spike would like sugar.

 

Lyra - muffins, because...  I have no idea.  Perhaps in her study of human culture she read 'Cupcakes' and refuses to look at a cupcake the same way again.

 

Bon Bon - cupcakes, because she kind of looks like a cupcake.  Also sugar.

 

Carrot Top - muffins, because it just seems right.

 

Dr. Whooves - muffins, but more specifically English muffins so that he can at least have a partial English breakfast.

Twilight- would pick the more sensible and nutritious muffins.

 

Applejack- muffins.  Wouldn't pick anything as frou-frou as cupcakes.  Blus while I've seen plenty of Apple based muffins (usually Apple bran or apple crumb) I've never heard of apple cupcakes

 

Rarity- muffins would be too bland and boring for her.  But you can make a fancy and high class dessert out of cupcakes (look at some of the desserts on Cupcake Wars on Food Network)

 

Fluttershy- Cupcakes.  The sweetness matches her personality

 

Dash- Cupcakes.  Muffins just wouldn';t be awesome enough.  But I've seen some pretty awesome and elaborate looking cupcakes.

 

THe rest?  Not sure yet.

It's never too late, The story is far from complete, and the majority of the characters haven't even appeared yet. Every little bit counts!

Of note, I picked the same as the majority EVERY SINGLE TIME. Which honestly feels a little weird. Lyra was the only one I never really rationalized, and again that also seems to be the one with the most even split. If I had gone on the other side the voting would have been a tie by now. My justifications were particularly limited as well, basically being 1) her friendship (or more) with Bon-Bon who was a much easier choice, and 2) her bright coloring. Seriously flimsy. Not quite as nonsensical as my reasoning for Dr. Whooves (it just felt kinda right) but it was the hardest choice.

 

If it were my choice I would pick muffins simply due to their versatility. Change the ingredients a bit and one could be a tasty dessert, while another could be a nutritious breakfast-to-go. Cupcakes are... cupcakes.  They can only be dessert, with frosting they're messier than muffins but without frosting they're pointless, and there really aren't that many situations where they're better than just having a regular cake.

For Derpy, i choose Muffins over cupcakes, actually, in her honor, in the Derpy day i went to a cafe and ordered a chocolate one, it was delicious!
