gaming Game moments that made you cry

Any art game that doesn't end with jumping off a roof and has more to do than walking down one path brings tears of joy to my eyes.

What do you mean by art game? side scrolling 2d games like sonic and such or point and click adventure games that usually involves picking up objects and stuff?

I mean games made to be artsy, like Journey, Okami and Shadow of the Colossus.

Some are pretty good, but many are just boring walks as the character constantly asks "Why?" about everything and kills themselves in an attempt to be deep and meaningful. Newgrounds' Art Games section is a good example of both.

As a Halo fan, Reach had some pretty sad moments for me >.< Some of you who are fans of halo should already know this, but a while ago I noticed that all their deaths were ironic.

Noble One- Carter: The Captain of the Noble team died while the ship was going down (Every Captain goes down with the ship)

Noble Two- Kat: The brains of the team, got shot in the head by a sniper

Noble Three- Jun: The stealthy recon on the team, was never seen as he mysteriously vanished in the game

Noble Four- Emile: The CQB Spartan, he loved his knifed and ironicly, he got stabbed by a sword

Noble Five- Jorge: The heavy weapons and demolition specialists, died blowing up a ship

Noble Six- (You): He was a Lone Wolf from the start, then he died all alone trying to survive endless waves of enemies.

For me it was definitely when The Great Deku Tree died in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The creepy/sad music coupled with his poetic last words as he told Link his destiny was just the most emotional thing I have ever experienced in a video game.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time/Darkness/Sky. When the main character sacrifices him/herself to save the world, and his/her partner had to deal with grief of losing his/her friend forever. Also when Grovyle entrusted the mission to the team, it really got to me. The music was quite fitting too.

The end of the Fallout 3 good karma ending. That part at the end with the picture of you as a child with your dad always gets me. It gets me thinking about everything sacrificed for the wasteland, and the baby music that plays with it definitely doesn't help stop the manly tears.

This got to me too. Lots of elements of the game made me sad (and happy and frightened and cynical etc.) but I do think I cried at the ending. Super Writer mentioned Okami, which I vaguely remember crying at but I don't remember the scene. Speaking of arthouse games, I definitely cried at Bastion's ending. They did a great job of cramming a huge amount of story into a tiny space, but the wordless ending...damn...

Angel and Roland's deaths, in Borderlands 2. I had come to enjoy roland as a character, now that he had dialouge...but to have him go like that....that made me angry...then sad. Angel being real was a shock to me, and then, having such a person killed..of her own will, by my hand....I felt attrocious, like I could have and should have saved her somehow. I still feel tears coming to my eye when I think of those two...dying within the same minute.

Kingdom Hearts, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days:

The ending of KH1 just fits. Although many people don't like it, for me it was the perfect combination of dramatical story and perfect fitting music.

And, of course, KH: 358/2 Days. The clip after the fight with Xion just got me.. And also what happens after that when Roxas just wants her back but Riku has to stop him... :(

I cry a lot :P Anyway, A game I think i cried a lot in was the ending of Phoenix Wright: Justice for All. It wasn't so much tears of sadness, but tears of joy for the amazing revalation Phoenix has at the end :) It was inspiring.

(In truth, the rest of the game wasn't as good as the others in the series, but that one last case was amazing, probably the strongest in the series)

Ok I have four moments like that.

1. Kingdom hearts ending when riku and Mickey get locked in the darkness and sora loses kairi... Again

2. Kingdom hearts 2 when Sora and Kairi meet again.

3. The HAPPY ending of Heavy rain.

4. When Neku can't kill Joshua in the world ends with you.

Tears of joy at the end of Super Mario Sunshine. Not even joking. Granted, I was like 8 at the time, but still.

There's been plenty of music in games that have made me get all misty-eyed though, notably "Arnhem Knights" from MOHF, "Never Forget" from Halo, and "Hal3 (Haggstrom)" from Minecraft.

The ending to the Explorer Pokemon Mystery Dungeon games, when the hero says his heartfelt goodbyes to his partner. First time in the game you're not the mute hero communicating simply through gestures and though bubbles, here you actually speak and it just increases the atmosphere of the entire situation. The same goes for the conversation with Grovyle before, knowing that this will be the last time you see him.

There's also Bobbery's tale from Paper Mario TTYD where we learn what happened to his late wife. When he reads the letter written to him by Scarlet on her deathbed, I can't help but tear up. All three of these moments are greatly enhanced by the music that plays, all three songs perfectly setting the mood while playing with your emotions like a violin.

Metal Gear Solid 4 definitely. Snake being old, going back to Shadow Moses and of course the final scene where he wants to kill himself all brought some tears in my eyes. Been an MGS fan my whole life and those scenes all got me in some way or another.

Garza dying in Killzone 2, I saw that Templar was mentioned above. In Reach, Jorge's death made me very, very sad. Not the others in Noble Team though.

And is anyone remembers this game, Zero's death in MegaMan X1 reduced a young 7 year old me to tears, and moisture is brought up every time I see it now a days. When Iris died in MegaMan X4, that made me cry.

Hah. Lul.

Y'all think Call of Duty was sad?

Friggin' Shadow the Hedgehog?

I've cried at the end of Trials and Tribulations.

Godot's backstory, and such. It's sad, man.

Then I've also cried at...um..I don't think I've cried at anything else. Huh.

Objection! Hold it! Take that! Gotcha! Eureka!

I like video games and anime.

PokePark Wii 2 almost got me into tears. Darkrai wanted a world where pokemon could enjoy themselves outside of the pokepark, but made a mistake where the pokemon could not stop doing things. Instead, it was a world of torture where pokemon were doing the same thing. There was a dark energy about to swallow everything including pokepark. When this happened, Pikachu was all alone, no one to play with, to talk to, nor to be with. He was so sad, I almost cried because he went through a lot in that part.

The first one I can remember crying over was the ending of Sonic Adventure 2, when Shadow "dies". Nowadays I don't find it that sad anymore, but I was a kid back then. The freakin' sad music helped a lot too - it always helps. ¬-¬

Also, Star Fox: Assault's ending was also sad as hell. As well as The Legends of Zelda: Majora's Mask's ending.

Oh, and I almost forgot about when Ada "dies" in Resident Evil 2.

How have I not posted here yet? Well I'm here now.

I have to say a few moments from the Gears of War Trilogy made me get a little teary eyed. Examples include...

I lay awake at night to this day, wondering if Dom made the right choice...
