Fanboys should like girls more and be more like fangirls.

I tried to make that title distinct enough.

On the Internet and life in general, the phrase "fanboy" and "fangirl" have notably different connotations.

Fanboys are fans of certain products or media or famous people in popular media.

Fangirls can also like those things. Nintendo fangirl, Disney fangirl, Maroon 5 fangirl. However, women place more emphasis on unashamedly finding certain humans in popular culture to be beautiful and handsome, so they fret and swoon when they meet their favorite actor or voice actor or watch shows with suave and dashing anime guys.

This is happening over multiple generations. My ma likes Patrick Jane the Mentalist, played by Simon Baker. My grandma just calls NCIS the "Jethro" show. Think about Elvis Presley fangirls and Perry Mason fangirls.

But guys don't fret and fawn and swoon and squee enough!

For example, look up any reasonably pretty female human fictional character that a guy could have a crush on, and add the word "fanboy". Hermione fanboy. Samus fanboy. Why do those not link to guys openly saying that they would blush and fawn if they met Emma Watson???

Because guys are not romantic enough these days? They need to react to the female characters in popular media more ecstatically!!!

Link fangirl, Nathan Drake fangirl, Sora, L Lawliet, Marth, Ike, Pit, Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Who, Tony Stark, Draco Malfoy, Ron, Harry, and Snape. All well-known for making women and girls swoon!

But guys are like, Durrrrrrr, that's a detailed drawing of Samus Aran in her Zero suit. uhhhh hot.

Be more fascinated by women, guys! Be more like Spike!

You mention Samus... I love Miss Aran.

You see, the issue with this subject is men want to look like... well, men. They want to make their guy friends that they aren't girly, so theyu don't swoon or fret when they meet a famous girl they like or they don't mention it if they do, because then, they seem a bit feminine themselves.

Don't get me wrong, being feminine is no issue. It's perfectly normal. But "manly men" don't want to seem girly because their men... you see what I'm saying?

At least, that's why I say fanboys aren't like fangirls too much; masculinity. Yes, in some degrees, they should, but if they want to stay "manly," fine. Let them be jerks to their celebrity crushes (unless the crush is fictional).

I thought they were the same thing, about taking there devotion to something beyond how they would normally would i'e I am an Aquaman fanboy at most because i think he is one of the best things DC has and will defend my love for him, hell i even had an Aquaman shrine on one of my walls kinda freaked out allot of girls and guys I brought home but that was mainly them going "Aquaman?....rely?.....".

there rely isn't anything separating the two. or maybe i just don't notice it.

I'm not too overly excited to meet any celebrity so I don't see the need to behave that way. There are lots of such comments on the little girl who played Hit girl in kickass.

I haven't found any fictional character that I really like either because they're not nearly as complex as me.

I know exactly what you're getting at. My parents have been divorced for a long time and I have always lived with my mom and sister. We'll be watching NCIS:LA or something and they will just about freaking drool over the guys. I find it silly honestly. I'm like "Ok, you think they are hot. Do you really have to flip out and squee and stuff?".

I find Kate Beckinsale to be rather beautiful, but I don't feel like I have to freak out, squee, jump around, faint, or anything whenever I watch something she is in. And it isn't because I feel like I need to remain "manly", I have no friends I hang out with, and if I did they wouldn't see me acting "manly" anyways. I don't care for sports at all, I don't feel the need to talk about what I did to my gf (when I had one) last night in the bedroom, or any other thing considered "manly". The manliest thing I do is work on my 40yr old truck, but to me thats something a woman is completly capable of doing too. In fact, I'm a Jeeper and I know plenty of gals who have these 40yr old Jeeps as well and work on them to boot.

Now if I met her in real life I probably would be a bit nervous and either not know what to say and jumble my words, or say something stupid, but that could be said for many other celebrities too. I mean, I'm a complete "fanboy" for Patrick Stewart or Bruce Campbell and I have a feeling I would be a bigger mess meeting them. :D I'll just never understand the flipping out thing just because someone you like is on tv.

I'm a Golden Sun fanboy. I did do something very similar to a squee when, after 7 years of silence, the 3rd game was announced (it was more of a triumphant shout while literally jumping out of my chair and then running around the house). Similar reaction when it came out and I bought it, 'cept it was in GameStop.

But would you squeal with delight if you met an actual delightful well-known human woman? Or at least get nervous and blush and stutter? Especially if it was a Harry Potter actress?

No, but there aren't really any female actresses/singers/celebrities that I'm a fanboy of. I really only fanboy over games that I love.

Then you are just proving my point you, unromantic, apathetic Nerd-anderthal with no innate intuition to understand the art of courtship and songbirds! Edited by GuillermoGage

Having girls screaming their petty lungs out at the sight of something popular is cute, sometimes endearing

But boys, seeing them squeeing like filly will leave you start to question the future of mankind :/
