This is perhaps for everyone, and is probably paramount. Test your recording software and setup before going live, make sure you get everything set up so when you do go live, sound and video will end up fine. Also try to keep a consistent file name so I can identify you through the file name. If you do several files due to recording restrictions, enumerate your files in the order they are in or add context names. Like the questions if you add a file per question.

 

I don't want to have a hard time managing the files in my own file system as a result of overflow.

 

Also record in the best quality you've got, since I am relegated to editing. I will do my best to make the video in 720p at least, so any recordings with good sound quality in 720p will absolutely make the cut, Anything too low is going to be sadface.

 

Is it ok if I upload the audio and video separately?

 

Windows Movie maker only records video, so I have to record the audio from Audacity, which will create 2 files. One with the video and one with the audio.

 

If you can, try to make sure that the audio and the video start and end at the same time, especially start. then they can be merged with ease. Also for sake of consistency, name your files similarly. For example Urdnot_Shepard_video.wmv and Urdnot_Shepard_audio.mp3 .

Last thing, I might do this myself, but if anyone has any good ideas for infographics and such not to place on screen or a nice looking border to use, preferably high quality. you can PM them to me.

I'm not sure when, exactly, I'll have the footage in by, but if it's done today, it'll be sent in before 1700 CST. If not, then I'll have to get up early tomorrow morning.

Presumably, so long as each video is of roughly the same length, each one will be fairly easily tellable, moment wise. Although I suppose that depends upon whether or not you're watching a stream, where you'll be seeing commercials, or if you're watching the episode via Youtube, where you won't be.

 

I, for one, because my internet connection simply cannot ever keep up with a stream--and that's when livestream doesn't just crash--will be watching a Youtube copy, so my video will only be as long as the Youtube video plus before and after. That's it.

The format is simple: First part is reaction to the episode, this can need be done after the episode. As to conserve recording space. Then move onto opinion and questions.

 

I will likely just play clips of the episode, and not care about where you are not. Just remember, with the high amount of signups, some stuff will probable end up being very abridged. So do keep in mind no need to narrate every feel throughout it, it's likely gonna get cut.

No, it's not too late. You do not have to be present at a livestream to join in - you just need to be sure to record yourself on your first time watching the episodes.

Ok, so I did record my reaction... But the total size of those files became almost 50GB, and there's no way I'd be able to upload that... So I just scrapped it. Sorry! (I don't think it was any good anyway...)

i do apologize but the video and audio started at different times but it should be easy enough to sync up again. i really apologize for this as i know that its hard on editors when this kind of thing happens

Well if that is the case, if you still have the files run it through an editing program like Sony Vegas but keep the quality settings and do lossless compression, it will shrink the file size dramatically.

It's a bit late for that... Deleted them. And even if I did keep them to make them smaller, I still wouldn't have space left for the new files (I had less than a gig left on my hard-drive)... I kinda regret that now.

Delete some temporary or duplicate files, i recommend anyone with large files now to simply go through a simple lossless compression pass.

i can get a laugh or two but im mostly dark humor. if thats a drawback, dont hire me. because dark humor isnt everyones cup of copped up baby.

How exactly are we supposed to know which person that should edit the video, I mean there can't be 4 different people editing it.. Can there..? Also, how do we know when all videos are send in to you guys? And when would we get it?

btw, every video file should be send with the name of the user who recorded it, so we know which user it is who's on the screen (if we put text of their username)

Man, I just can't do it when my mom is home. She knows about MLP, but she doesn't really accept it that well, you could say that she lives in the past. The thing is that I get really nervous when she is around and I can't perform at my best, which makes the overall quality of the video terrible.

 

So unless I'm home alone tomorrow at some point I guess I'll have to drop out

Uploading mine, I figured out how to get movie maker to record both the audio and the video, so it's just one file.

I made an intro, and also a special Easter egg for the credits/bloopers.

I also made a special surprise for the video. CAN YOU GUESS WHAT IT IS?!

 

(Sorry for the bad quality. Laptop webcams and mics suck, and I like to watch my ponies loud and proud.)
