I’m a Christian, and more specifically a Roman Catholic.

The reasons for this are rather long and at times complicated. That may explain why entire books are written on the subject of why someone is one religion or another.

It must suffice to say that of all the worldviews out there (including irreligious ones), Christianity is the only one that makes perfect sense.

In the past I’ve leaned towards atheism. After doing some soul searching (and researching) I ended up re-affirming the beliefs I had had prior. Because of that I am still Christian. Although I now have a greater understanding of what it even means to be Christian (and Catholic for that matter).

i am also atheist, i have come to accept the fact that there is no god, though i was never a very religious person to begin with

Come on now, capitalize those I’s ;)

I am technically a Protestant, although being a Missouri Synod Lutheran, we tend to distance ourselves from mainstream Protestantism (we fall somewhere between Catholics and mainstream Protestantism, gotta love the technicalities of denominations  ). While I have certainly encountered my fair share of hardships in life, from a rather nasty divorce that my parents went through to continual struggles with sin and temptation, none of that has shaken my faith in my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Yes, we live in a world full of suffering, hardship, and evil, but ya know, at the end of the day, all I do is press on, content in the knowledge that my Redeemer lives and that He has a plan for this world. Plus, I look around me, and instead of focusing on all the evil in this world (which believe me, is quite tempting to do), I focus on all the blessings and wonders I see around me. I thank God for this beautiful world we've been blessed to live in and given stewardship over, for my family and friends who are constantly providing me with love and support, for the many opportunities that I've been blessed with, and most of all, for God's undying love for me and each and every human being.

And you know what else I thank God for? MLP!!! Yeah, it may sound somewhat silly, but ya know, I thank God for both the big and small blessings in my life, for He is responsible for each and every blessing in my life. I thank Him for such a warm-hearted, intelligent, funny, and well-written show with valuable life lessons, and I thank Him for the wonderful and loving community that He led me to online here on this forum. I love each and every single one of you bronies and pegasisters on this forum, no matter what you may believe, and I thank you all for your love and friendship. People from all walks of life, whether religious or atheist, conservative or liberal, can learn many lessons from our community, which promotes many values that I have always held in the highest regard. Yes, I hold my faith in the highest regard; it is first and foremost the most important thing in my life, and that means that I believe in many things that others may strongly disagree with. However, my faith does not mean that I cannot live happily and peacefully alongside people from all other walks of life, professing to all sorts of different creeds, political viewpoints, and worldviews. God has given us all the freedom to make our own choices, to choose what we wish to believe in our time on Earth! And so while I may disagree with other worldviews, to those who adhere to them, I say to you that, as we bronies always say amongst ourselves, I shall always love and tolerate you and your beliefs!!! And I hope that each and every brony and pegasister, no matter what your beliefs, will do the same to your fellow man!!! After all, this world would be a far more wonderful place if more people chose to be rational and reasonable and adhered to the loving and tolerating that we always promote! God bless each and every one of you! :D

I'm an agnostic in a family of devout Christians, mainly due in part that I never found happiness in religion, plus my parents never made me read the Bible and such, science is much more plausible than religion.

However, I just question the existence of a higher deity, there may be a god, I just don't care though.

i honestly see it not as one religion but all the religions with a based God all are praying to the same god, when they tower of Babel fell everyone couldn't speak the same language so they had to form a word to call there God "God" and that's how all the other religions started, i think there is no true way of following one based god upon the way you where brought up and that "God" would hate others for not loving him when they do pray and worship him in there own language/Culture which would mean they are all the same and we are just ignorant and cant except that reality, personally i have my own beliefs i wont force them on another they can believe what they want that's how i was raised.

I guess I fall under the "atheist" selection. Why? Hmmm... Just don't feel the need for a religion I suppose. I don't need answers, I don't much care what is in the after life (if there even is one), and I don't really care why or how I was put here. What matters to me is that I am here and I need to make the best of it.

Yet your signature is a quote from the second most well-known book about Hell ever written. It specifically draws attention to the question that you just said you don't care about. So...dafuq?

I've discovered a complete fallout of religion after seeing death and turmoil that this world has to offer. Seeing friends and family die so young and have it being written off as 'God's Plan' is something I can't live with. That, plus widespread ignorance, hatred, and bigotry due to religious intolerance has shaped me into a bona fide Atheist.

I'm an Athiest... I was brought up a Christian by my parents, and, y'know, when I'm young -facepalms at self for misspelling "young" 3 times- I really can't make logical decisions. But now that I'm older, I have brains. And looking into all the Christianity stuff, and grasping that knowledge, I really don't believe any of it.

Christianity just isn't right for me.

I'd say just non-denominational Christian. I've seen and heard about to much to believe nothing exists beyond this life.

I'm definitely more liberal than most though in the sense I believe you really can't say someones sinning unless their doing something that harms or wrongs someone.

I just like the book and that is one of my favorite quotes from it lol Just because I don't care if there is an afterlife doesn't mean I can't enjoy a good story about it.

I am agnostic for the reasoning;

I do not believe that there is any proof in God, nor is there any disproof of God, and that religion is a waste of time for some, while a good way to help with current issues for others. I believe that those who truly believe and pray will get the help they need because of psychological reasons, though I base this off nothing, and don't really STRONGLY believe in this. It's just a little theory I made up. So I do not take part in any religion, but I do very well understand those who do. I have no thoughts on religion, really, because for me, that is best.

Well, I have a suggestion of other choices that should go on there:

Taoism, Confucianism, Mormonism, Seventh day Adventist (or just Adventist), Christian Scientist, Scientology, etc.

Just giving you some suggestions. ;)

i find it hard to just accept stuff from a religious official or anyone for that matter without some evidence to support their claims

As for me, I was raised in catholic family, but I consider myself to be an atheist. I've been thinking about it for a long time and I came to the conclusion that the whole idea of God is pointless for me. I'm rationalist, so I also don't believe in afterlife.

When it comes to religion's influence on the world I'm a bit confused. Some people claim that religion gives them strenght and hope, but on the other hand, religion fanatics can be very dangerous - suicide attacks etc., so I find it really hard to classify religion as "good" or "bad".

I'm highly agnostic, so i don't really know what does and doesn't exist. However, i am also open minded, and don't criticize other people's beliefs.

However, i think the idea of religion as a whole is very dangerous, no matter what religion. Christianity only lasted this long because it forced itself onto everyone (I.e. 1000 years ago, atheists would be executed), and more wars are caused by religion than anything else (I.e. Israel and Palestine)

What makes ME a good brony?! IF I WERE A BAD BRONY, I WOULDN'T BE LOGGED ON TO THIS FORUM, DISCUSSING IT WITH YA'!!!

I follow Wicca, I don't actually believe so much in an actual God and Goddess. I follow what it teaches.. not harming anyone or yourself, being thankful for what you have and all that jazz. I am officially a Wiccan either way, I still worship my own* God and Goddess for the fact that I am taking time from my day to be grateful and to think etc.. sorta like meditation

Well Im agnostic..... I havent ruled anything out but neither have I been convinced by anything enough to beleive in it... (Relegion wise... obviously ;) ).

Im not judgmental at all towards other peoples beliefs... I dont really see religion as a negative thing either.... I know it has caused many problems and wars between people and cultures...... by fighting over there own interpretations of the afterlife and the "divine" so to speak.....

But im not against the ideas behind religion... If someone believes in something and it helps them get through their day and something to base their life on and give it structure. Then good for them Im glad they have found something to beleive in. As long as you dont force your opinions on others then im perfectly happy for people to beleive in whatever they want to. ;)

At first, sorry if topic like this already exists, but I've been looking for it and I haven't found anything.

Hello Spatsi!

We actually already have a truly massive thread about religion, I've merged your thread with it to keep the discussion centralized.

I hope you don't mind! :)
