I am a big fan of the Lord of The Rings movies and I have read all the books, including The Hobbit.

The Hobbit will be shown in 3D with something called HFR, High Frame Rate which will show the movie in 48 frames per second instead of the normal 24. This means the quality will be better in motions and such and it will look more realistic. I don't know if it will even be noticeable but I am quite interested to see how it will look like since where I live, Sweden, it's the first movie to ever be shown in HFR.

The movie will be split into 3 parts,

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - December 12, 2012 (12th is only for Sweden.14th dec for USA)
The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - December 13, 2013
The Hobbit: There and Back Again - July 18, 2014

Here are some videos about the movie.

So my question to you are:

Have you see the Lord of The Rings movies?

Do you like them?

Have you read The Hobbit?

What are your expectations of The Hobbit?

Are you going to watch The Hobbit?

If not, why?

What do you think about the movie being split into 3 parts at 2h 50m instead of the original idea which was 2 movies at 3h 30m?

How much do you believe the HFR will affect the experience of the movie?

I have read The Hobbit and and seen all of the movies several times. I really like the lore and everything in the Lord of the Rings series, though the books are just INSANELY long. I've read the first one, which I thought was really good.

As for the movie, I'm psyched. It's a shame that they haven't done this sooner; all they had was the dumb animated one!

I'm a pretty big fan of The Lord of the Rings movies, so I will most likely watch The Hobbit. I haven't read the books except for Fellowship of the Ring, I think. Anyway, it looks like it's gonna be a great movie smile.png

I have seen the extended edition of the Lord of the Rings trilogy and i absolutely love them.   not sure which is my favorite i think it's return of the king.    I haven't read it all the way through, it's a little bit dry reading for my taste so i read about half of it a long time ago and then gave up. yes i know i'm an awful person for saying that.  I dunno, I suspect it will be good considering peter jackson is director.  I will go see it, eventually. maybe not on opening day.    i thought that they might do three.  that's more money for the studios.

Have you see the Lord of The Rings movies? Yup!

Do you like them? Yup!

Have you read The Hobbit?? My mom read it to my younger brother as part of the school curriculum a while ago...

What are your expectations of The Hobbit? Uh... Epic!

Are you going to watch The Hobbit? Of course! I'd go on my birthday, but we're going as a family...

If not, why?

What do you think about the movie being split into 3 parts at 2h 50m instead of the original idea which was 2 movies at 3h 30m? I didn't know that. laugh.png Better, considering that is 8 hrs. and 30 mins, whereas the other option (two movies) is only 7 hrs. 0 mins. More detail in the first option, you know? ;)

How much do you believe the HFR will affect the eperience of the movie? Uh... what now? tongue.png

I've seen Lord of the Rings before, but I didn't like it.

I've never really been a huge fantasy guy, I'm more like a sci-fi guy. So I'm probably not going to see it unless nothing else good is playing at the time. tongue.png

I watched all 3 Lord of the Rings movies in the past week, so I think I'm prepared.  I had almost forgotten how good The Two Towers was.

That's really all there is to say on the matter.

I'll definitely watch it. I thought that the other Lord of the Rings movies were masterpieces. I'm not crazy about it though, I've never read any of the books. My brother is though, he's read all the books, watches all the movies once a month, and owns two gold-plated the One Ring To Rule Them All replica's. He's extremely stoked about this movie. It looks about the same very high quality as the others were.

Awesome! I will be there at opening night too as I say in the OP. The funny thing is that since I live in Sweden, the movie will be shown 6 hours before it's shown in america since we're about 6 hours ahead :P

@@Jadefire, You haven't seen the movies but you want to see the hobbit? Dude! Check out the movies, they're awesome :)

They are a little bit long, 3 hours and 30 mins each, but I promise you epicness.

I have literally seen them more than 20 times each.

Well if you read the OP (maybe you did haha) you can see that it'll be shown in HFR, 48 frames per second. This will make the quality even better in fast motions and such, making it look even more realistic.

Yes, I've seen every LOTR movie countless times, huge fan :D

I've also read The Hobbit and I'm really looking forward to this movie. And I don't really care how many movies they make, I just wonder how they made it to 3 because I don't think the book would give enough story for 3 movies :D

Well actually it does. It's just that all movies that are made into movies always remove some parts from the book to not make it like 5 hours long. Just look at the harry potter movies and compare it to the books. Why Peter Jackson made it into 3 movies is because of 3 reasons. 1. Because he didn't want to exclude anything from the book. 2. Because it gives more money. 3. Because it will keep the fans excited.

I've never seen the Lord of the Rings movies so I can't judge. I have read The Hobbit though and I love it!

I expect it to be great. I love that they're splitting it into 3 movies so they can more easily tell the whole story without straying from the book.

Of course I'm going to go see it! I have plans already to go see it the day it comes out. :P

Just a few notes: The Hobbit is only in two parts. Not three.

You want to pay extra and see this in 3D, They invented camera technology just for this movie. The film is being shot digitally at 48 frames per second. Peter Jackson the director said test audiences told him it was like the theater was was gone and they were actually looking into another world.

Its going to be awesome!

This link shows you all 9 of Peter Jackson's Production video blogs. (the making of the movie)...good news is it won't spoil the movie, but they do give tantalizing glimpses of the movie...like the goblin city in video blog #8.

No. You're wrong, the movie is going to be a triology.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey - December 12, 2012

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug - December 13, 2013

The Hobbit: There and Back Again - July 18, 2014

At first it was only going to be two movies, but later on Peter Jackson decided to make it a triology.

Also, I explain the HFR in the OP. And I do have links to the blog, the website and a link to the production videos too. It seems like nopony here reads the OP dry.png

Have you see the Lord of The Rings movies? Yes, actually I've been re-watching the whole entire series again. Yes, I have been a very happy person. biggrin.png Favorite characters are all the Hobbits, (Mary and Pippin are just so comical) and Orlando Bloom's role as the elf, Legolas.

Do you like them? BOY DO I.

Have you read The Hobbit? I've tried to find some Lord of the Rings books, but I never do. sad.png

What are your expectations of The Hobbit? Just as amazing as the other Lord of the Rings series. (And maybe we might find out more of the Dwarves.)

Are you going to watch The Hobbit? Yes. Because I need to.

If not, why?

What do you think about the movie being split into 3 parts at 2h 50m instead of the original idea which was 2 movies at 3h 30m? Well, It's... kind of bad to wait for more movies to come out... but, I guess It's easier to manage for the producers.

How much do you believe the HFR will affect the experience of the movie? Well, I'm not so sure... I'll just see if I complain when I actually see the movie.
