Zecora can use magic?

To me, she's a witchy kinda Zebra. She also kinda reminds me of Rafikki from The Lion King.

And here I thought I was the only one who thought of that. She truly is kinda like Rafikki... except Rafikki is kinda... bit more crazy IMO. Zecora on the other hand is calm.

I think it's like Zecora may not be able to use pony magic, but maybe like some kind of off-brand Zebra magic? I think it's the whole tribal-medicine thing though

my guess is that zebras themselves have their own form of magic, kinda like how the crystal ponies have their own special type of magic that seems controlled almost by their subconcious. it seems like what she did was a combination of illusions and magic. remember she waves her hooves over her cup, and it refills with tea. and that twilight relies on both her own magic skills AND illusions to defeat trixie. zebra magic also seems much more spiritual and energy focused.

i would love for there to be more episodes with Zecora, or for more development for the zebra race in general.

Zecora is the MLP equivalent of Hermione in my opinion. She isn't born with the gift of magic, so she studies and perfects it. I bet she has a portal to Hogwarts in her house... O.O

Using what I'm going to call 'Warhammer' terms, Twilight and other unicorns use 'High Magic' and Zecora uses 'Earth Magic'. Basically Zecora uses totems, fetishes and potions to infuse magic into things. Twilights magic is limited by her ability and stamina (also knowledge and belief) whereas Zercora's is limited by resources.

 

Zecora is for all intents and purposes a witchdoctor / shaman.

I think Zecora studies magic but can't  perform it outward as a unicorn does, she creates magic potions. Also there different definitions of magic.

 

1. Magic (illusion), the art of appearing to perform supernatural feats using sleight of hand, escapology, or other methods

 

2. Magic (paranormal), the use of paranormal methods to manipulate natural forces. Eg witchcraft.

 

The also other sub-categories of magic anyway I think number 1 best describes Zecora magic and number 2 to describes Twilight's magic .
