Twilight Circuits 603 December 20, 2012 Share December 20, 2012 All time favorite has to be Dances with Wolves. Archi the Atmomancer 564 December 20, 2012 Share December 20, 2012 (edited) Toy Story 3 made me cry manly tears and was the final piece of a brilliant series. While The Dark Knight didn't provoke such emotions it had one of the best villains I have ever seen and was just amazing. Finally, Star Wars (the Original Trilogy of course) because it was one of the first films I watched and is probably what led to my interest in sci-fi. Edited December 20, 2012 by Archi "Humanity is the end; knowledge is the means; I will not rest until there are no more secrets to be discovered; I will not rest until there are no more ways to improve; I will not rest until there are no more problems to be solved; I will wield no weapon but my wits and intellect; With these weapons I will battle ignorance until the light of knowledge shines bright; When the light of knowledge shines upon us all, then I shall rest, and not before." - Atmomancer Creed
Creamy Arty 6,252 December 20, 2012 Share December 20, 2012 Field of Dreams is my favorite Kevin Costner movie, and just one of my favorite movies of all time. Although most would think of it as being heavily laced with Americana, it's a movie that I believe can really touch people from anywhere, because the American overtones are vehicles for dilemmas and feelings experienced by everyone. The Back to the Future trilogy not only has a special place in my heart, but it's just plain brilliant. Nothing is said or done in any of those movies that doesn't become in some way relevant later on. Everything is significant, no matter how trivial it may seem at present. There's a lot of nostalgic value in it as well that no doubt influences its priority on any list of movies I could compile. Watching Back to the Future is simultaneosly refreshing and painful as it makes me long for the way things were when I was a kid, and also longing for a time that ended decades before I was born. 1 Kyoshi made this ^^ Come join us on Equestria.tv on Fridays at 6 PM Eastern for our weekly movie nights! ReGen 1,466 December 20, 2012 Share December 20, 2012 (edited) Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer O. M. G. This movie is so speshul. I can watch it a thousand times and never get sick of it. It's probably the only Christmas movie that isn't super cheesy. It's basically the Friendship is Magic of Christmas movies. I can't even quote this movie, there are too many good ones. Here goes: "In the name of justice: We eat fruitcake!" Saving Private Ryan Tom Hanks as a Captain in the Army Rangers in WWII-era Europe in a movie directed by Steven Spielberg, also starring Matt Damon and Vin Diesel. 'Nuff said. Modphase 1,273 December 23, 2012 Share December 23, 2012 I'm a sucker for both treasure hunting movies and westerns, so you can make the assumption that The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is a movie which does hold a place in my heart. Not because of the amazing storytelling, superb acting, and awesome choreography, but because of the many elements which are present in this stunning motion picture. Trust, betrayal, friendship, hatred, two-sided characters, intricate personalities. Wrongdoing, right-doing, white knights, and the worst of the worst villains, and some who are in between. You will sure as hell find all of those in this movie. Not only that, it really portrays the pinnacle of American master pieces. The movie industry has recently gone down the crapper, but this movie is a reminder that it wasn't always bad, and that other films in the future can follow it's example. Haruhi-chan 486 April 7, 2015 Share April 7, 2015 Space Jam - The reason is because when I was a kid, I rented it on VHS. I became obsessed with it since I loved the Looney Tunes, so when it came to bring it back... I had a meltdown over it and didn't want to bring it back. My parents ended up having to buy a copy of it for me. Ever since then, it's always had this special place in my heart for that reason. Ponyo - One time when it first announced being in theaters, I had been soooooo obsessed with it. Every time a commericlal came on for it, I'd be like "Ponyo!" and get all excited. Well, I wanted to see it when it first came out. Considering how overly obsessed I was with the movie, I got upset and had a HUGE meltdown because my dad said we couldn't go and see it the first day. I cried so hard that I don't think I could breathe. However, we did end up seeing it in theaters eventually. <3 ET - This one is kind of special to me because my mom said this was my first movie when I was a baby. So, of course it has a huge place in my heart. :3 x Haruhi Suzumiya x goddess of the world twitter
Adorkable 2,737 April 7, 2015 Share April 7, 2015 Wreck-It Ralph is an incredible movie, not only is it about video games with cameos from big-named characters, but it has Sonic's first time on the big screen, which is something I still haven't completely got over. Steel Accord 6,660 April 7, 2015 Share April 7, 2015 (edited) Tarzan: My favorite Disney movie. It's like a pulp novel in animated form and was one I watched over and over again. Really most of Disney's library could qualify, but this the Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and the Little Mermaid stand out in particular. The Pokemon movies 1-3: These were the first time I could see something I was immensely passionate about blown up to cinematic proportions. Digimon the movie: Likewise for the above. James and the Giant Peach: Between this and another movie down the line, my fear of spiders never got the chance to even develop. Rather, I associate spiders with motherhood. An untrue stance from a purely biological perspective, but it is what it is. I love how the movie is even told a lot like a children's book or a dream. (Fitting the movie's message.) Charlotte's Web: Much like the above, I loved this movie for the titular character. She was so kind and even taught me about how necessary spiders, and by extension all predators, really are. The Princess Bride: Do I need to go into detail about this? It's a pure fantasy, but also a miracle in of itself. It's smart enough to poke fun at typical fantasy and romance conventions but not in a way that attacks it's own genre. Self-aware without being self-deprecating. In a world of grittiness and pained or forced romance, it's nice to have a movie that straight faced commits itself to the concept of true love and how it makes heroes out of anyone. The Iron Giant: Government = bad, giant robot = possesses a soul and free will, "Supermaaaaan." What more need there be said? Toy Story 3: Really the entire franchise could be here but Toy Story 3 came out when I was actually Andy's age and right about to go off to college myself. So this movie was one of the few that actually made me tear up in the theater while still delivering on laughs. Overdrive 5,366 April 7, 2015 Share April 7, 2015 Forrest Gump: It's hard for me not to pick this movie. I've seen it so many times, but I will admit I still cry during a few scenes. It's just a very memorable, and enjoyable movie for everyone. Liar Liar: This movie, to a degree, is a depiction of my life, if I were the little boy in it. My dad wasn't always there for me, but he tried to make up for it in the end. It's hard to forget a movie like this. The Waterboy: I know, I know, an Adam Sandler movie. In all reality, behind his usual antics and all the other idiocy in it, it's a very touching and inspiring story, no matter what Momma says. The Fault in Our Stars: Yes, ladies and gentleponies, a chick flick. I went with a good friend to see this a while ago, and it really hit home when her brother passed away from Cancer a few months ago. It makes me tear up just thinking about it. darkwingmare 1,321 April 7, 2015 Share April 7, 2015 Honestly, it would be Titanic, The Mask and Pebble and The Penguin. Because I can relate them to my past. The Mask was always a movie me, dad and my sister used references from and laughed at. I love that movie and I relate it to my dad. Titanic is a movie I strongly relate to my mom and who I am. Titanic has always been a movie that I loved, cried real tears to, sung the songs from, understood how important your life is by. It has given me so much, "My Heart will go on" was the first song I ever sang for real and it was the start of my ever lasting hobby for singing. I've played it on the piano, been singing it countless times in my life. Kate Winslet is also someone I ADORE as an actress after that particular movie, I'm enjoying her every movie after that one. She's simply amazing with what she does. Titanic will always mean so much to me, for so many reasons. The Pebble and the Penguin has awesome animation, cheerful songs and great characters. I grew up constantly watching it, I loved it back then, I love it now. It's now that I realize all the jokes and actual intentions of lines in the movie, though. It's so entertaining to watch! A Bug's Life was also very important to me as a child, so I suppose I'll add that one as well. “You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes.
