Rainbow Dash changed for better?

nope those traits are still there, but they have actually decided to give the the gift of character development rather then what they did though out season 2 which was make her even worse and shallow in a failed attempt to redeem her and resulting in some of the worst episodes.

I really hope the writers decide to make Rainbow Dash less of a cocky bitch because I'm sick of all the hate she's been getting from people. It makes me sad :(

yeah well most of the hate for her is the result and retaliation to RD fanboys...... just saying

She's slowly getting better, but that pridefulness still lurks around. I was glad to see her humble out in Wonderbolt Academy, now that was a relief.

I SUPER dislike Rainbow Dash but even myself noticed the HUGE change she had on her character, she had a rough start with the "Crystal Empire" but after seeing her in "Sleepless in Ponyville" and "Wonderbolts Academy", I noticed a side of her that I honestly never seen before, she still mantained her cool and awesomeness without being the usual Rainbow Dash and I really enjoyed that, I so want the writers to keep her like this.

I honestly can tell in some episodes it's better, but the beginning of "Wonderbolt Acadamy" was quite painful to watch as she basically regressed from the last episode.  Though I hope she doesn't lose it completely, just less then what was in WA.

Rainbow Dash is changing for the better? You make sound like she has no redeaming qualities :(

As for developing her character, I think it's a great improvement over some of season 2's bullshit

I prefer the less Cocky Rainbow dash, it shows a more gently side of her and it better reflects her element of loyalty.

one day maybe we will see her training/Teaching scootaloo when she becomes the Captain of the Wonderbolts!

Dashie was cool as she was, now she might be even little bit cooler, but it shouldn't really continue. If they move here even more to the "Polite, nice and fragile" spectrum, it wouldn't be cool at all. Also people might atart agreeing with each other and that just frightens me.

But More of Dash + Scootaloo would be pretty cool.  (Overuse of word "cool" was intentional and authorised)

Note: Having pride is not a bad trait, especially if you have something to be proud of.

yeah well most of the hate for her is the result and retaliation to RD fanboys.

Hey, that would actually mean hate for RD is a reaction of haters on fanboys hating RD started by fanboys of RD who hated RD. That's rather intricate.

...

Either way, I know what you mean, but I think it would help if the number of "RD is sucks" threads dropped a bit. The more you attack, the more defending troops will rush in and we can argue about who threw the first stone until we die of old age.

Wow, some people haven't noticed that her element is loyalty.

As you can see she shows great amount of loyalty in Sleepless in Ponyville and Wolderbolt academy.

TL;DR: She never changed, she's just starting to show her element more often. :)

Shes cocky for a good reason.. shes the best young flyer and pretty damn amazing. But taking Scootaloo under her wing is just a 'sister i never had' sort of thing.. But Rainbow Dash, is deffently changing for the better :P hopefully we see the RD + Scootaloo sisterhood again :P

Maybe another Sisterhooves social? Rarity and Sweetiebell vs Applejack and Applebloow vs Rainbow Dash and Scootaloo :P

I'd love to see that, especially since Dashie and Scoots would annihilate the competition :).

In any case, yes, Wonderbolts Academy did showcase how she has developed as a character. However I believe that the side of her that we saw in Sleepless in Ponyville has been there all along. She has always cared for her friends, such as helping Pinkie snap out of her depression, returning Applejack to her family and trying to help Fluttershy overcome her performance anxiety.

Ultimately yes, she has certainly developed as a character, however she was never as bad as I've seen several haters claim that she is. This season has given her the opportunity to show that she is kind and loyal, in clear terms that only the most closed-minded hate-filled individuals can ignore, and I'm grateful for that.

But...that's exactly what she's done in Sleepless in Ponyville and Wonderbolts Academy :3 Many people have begun to acknowledge that she's getting major character development, and her kind side, as well as more of loyalty is being shown. There's no need to be sad, this stuff is already happening, and will hopefully be shown more as well.

I kind of like her, as iron will would say, take-no-guff attitude. Otherwise she'd be a little boring i think. Or maybe not, she's coo either way to me.

I think RDs cockiness is part of her charm. They can't take it away, that would ruin her personality. However, they could do something about the arrogance, which is different and far less likeable. As other ponies have said in this thread, that has started to happen already in series 3 which is just fabulous.

To be honest I never disliked Rainbow Dash. I think she is great. Sure she can be pretty arrogant at times, but nopony is perfect and every show has to have that prideful character. And I do agree that RD has gottten a little more humble this season and really shoed her loyalty as well, especially in Wondebolts Academy.

I like Rainbow Dash's arrogance (hence why I like Mare Do Well). I think it's a very good character flaw, especially because it's not real but backed up by a lack of confidence. I never want that to completely go away, or I will probably stop finding Rainbow Dash an interesting character.

Exactly. If they took away her flaws entirely she would be a very flat character with no dimension, and nothing left to improve and she wouldn't learn anything. The loyalty she is displaying recently helps take the edge off it so it's not so brash and irritating, but if they stopped it, I think it would be a mistake.

I agree. She's taken a turn for the better, but in character development. She really hasn't changed at all. She's still going to be her cocky self, but with a little more depth to her. Not just the cocky, arrogant, and pretty much jerk that we saw in season 2.

I feel a lot more concerned about Rarity rather than Rainbow Dash. I like Rainbow Dash. She's a good character. Rarity on the other hand rarely ever shows her generous side. Which is why to me she's the worst of the six and still is.

YES!

Look, I used to dislike Rainbow during season 1-middle of season 2 because I didn't like her for the most obvious reasons. Things like her being cocky, arrogant, not loyal enough made me hate her. It wasn't until around Hurricane Fluttershy until I realized that she wasn't all that bad. Her character development kicked in and the episode showed that she was a true leader, as well as a patient friend to Fluttershy and that she also supports and cheers her on. She showcased her loyalty to both her team and Fluttershy as well. I gained respect for her just because of one measly episode.

Season 3 however, has made me adore her. She's matured so much since season 3. Seriously, the end of Wonderbolt Academy where she told off Spitfire instantly made her my second favorite pony. I doubt that Sleepless in Ponyville or Wonderbolt Academy would have gone the same way if Rainbow Dash hadn't developed so much in the past couple seasons (eg. Rainbow Dash probably would have went with Lightning's plans to screw up the other members of the academy if she hadn't developed at all, and in Sleepless in Ponyville I doubt she would have comforted Scootaloo that nicely.)

Hmm, it's interesting how many people only became interested in Rainbow Dash as a character by Season 3. I'm not gonna lie, the episode that made me start thinking of Rainbow Dash as a multifaceted, likable character was none other than...

THE MYSTERIOUS MARE DO WELL!

(No, I will never stop promoting this episode, by the way)

I think I'm broken. I only started liking Applejack with Hearth's Warming Eve, the first time I enjoyed Fluttershy was The Stare Master, and I thought that Owl's Well That Ends Well was a good Spike episode.

Wow, you have very different tastes than most of the fandom. That's cool though, I've felt the same way at times, especially this season. For example while everyone was gushing over Trixie coming back I was fanboying over Zecora, and in One Bad Apple when everyone was whining about Derpy not being in the theater I was more like "Who cares? It's CLOUD KICKER! The best background pony got some attention! Celebrate!" Then I got mobbed by the rabid Derpy fans and the fun stopped, but I digress. It would be boring if everyone agreed on everything.

Back on topic though I almost don't know how to feel about this. On one hand Rainbow seems to be getting more love than she has throughout the entire time that I've been a fan and I have to be happy about that. But on the other hand she was pretty freaking fantastic in the past two seasons as well and a lot of the "converts" seem to be insinuating that this is the first time that she's been sympathetic or likable, and that makes me :(.

On the whole though I'm glad Rainbow's developing and that more people are appreciating her.

She has changed for the better, but there will always be some sense of cockiness there, I suppose its a case of what we see as being cocky she (if she were real) would see as a positive attitude.

I actually think it's kinda cool to see people finding things to love about certain characters that are generally seen as unlikeable by most fans in certain episodes. I also thought Owl's Well was a relatively good Spike episode and liked the way he was portrayed
