Your Favorite MLP Episode: Round Two Series

ARRRRRRRRRRGHHHHHHHHHH!! Two excellent episodes here! But maybe if both parts of the Canterlot wedding counted as a single episode, I would choose that. But seriously, if I'm voting for The Canterlot Wedding (Part 1), I'd be voting for the tension towards the end and one of the most epic moments ever in MLP. It's About Time is a fantastic episode and maintains humour and action throughout. And seriously... that music in the background where Twilight meets future Twilight is really, really, REALLY good. Also, who doesn't like Twilight turning into a maniac?

 

So... my vote goes to It's About Time.

I like It's About Time, just due to it's humor and Twilight being Twilight. The plotting...no offence, but makes no sense. 

 

Why did future Twilight JUST HAVE to go back it time to tell Twilight not to worry about anything? Why? Past Twilight had no clue that anything bad was happening, so she wouldn't probably worry about anything. I also hate how they show that scene where future Twilight is trying to talk to past Twilight twice, but I guess it was for younger audiences and people who hadn't been watching the episode at the beginning, so I can't really complain about that. Thinking about the time loops that Twilight conjured up in this episode gives me a headache anyway. 

 

Canterlot Wedding part 1 was a good introduction that leads up to one of my favorite episodes. It was emotionally touching as well, and the ending of this episode had to be the most heartbreaking thing that the show has done so far. I guess I could complain about why Twilight's friends couldn't believe her about Cadance despite the events of Lesson Zero (maybe the events of It's About Time made them trust her less) but really, it's for emotional tension anyway, and it works well. Also, I may have preferred if at least Shining Armor was introduced beforehand, even if just for a really short scene in another episode. I like part 2 way better, but I still loved this episode just due to the emotional aspect. 

 

Canterlot Wedding it is.

It's About Time is actually at the bottom of my list with all the FS, PP, and RD episodes. I do like Evil Cadence/Cadance a lot, so that's gonna be what saves the episode despite it's absolute cheesy-osity.

 Time was a fun episode, but I'm unclear as to why Twilight didn't realize that what happened before was just going to happen again when she warns past-Twilight.  

 

Because if she did, it'd create a time paradox. The only way for her to be in that situation is if her future self told her about the Canterlot archives... but if she decided not to travel back in time, her future self wouldn't have told her about it. Either Twilight is an idiot or the entire episode never happened.

Canterlot Wedding Part 1, no contest for me. I honestly didn't like It's About Time at all, it's probably my second least favorite episode. However, both of the wedding episodes were great, and the cliffhanger at the end of part one was one of my favorite MLP moments of all time.

I'm voting for A Canterlot Wedding Part 1.  It's About Time was a fun episode but it's not as important to the overall advancement of the MLP storyline.  But in addition to that, I thought the Wedding episodes were fun in their own right.

I vote for It's About Time, because we get to see another side of Twilight we never seen before. Plus, it wasnt weird at all. A very good episode imo

Have to go with It's About Time for me. While I enjoyed the beginning and end of Canterlot Wedding, the first part really dragged once "Cadance" showed up and the rest of the episode was spend both confirming yet disproving all of Twilight's claims until the reveal at the very end. Now that I think about it, both these episodes (and Lesson Zero) involve Twilight becoming kind of crazy and losing it for a few moments, though of the three I think "It's About Time" did it the best and therefore gets my vote.

Today's Matchup: May The Best Pet Win VS Swarm Of The Century

Hum, a little trickier than yesterday. Swarm of the Century was a good all around episode. Very well balanced between the mane 6 in importance and screen time which is something that I think season three needs more of. They learned to respect Pinkie Pie more, which is nice since she is second best pony.

 

May the Best Pet Win however had an excellent song and moral, Tank, some great visuals, Ride of the Valkyries and of course the Best Pony took central stage.

 

Roughly even for me, but Dashie wins ties. May the Best Pet Win.

For me to vote against a Dashie episode is rare, but I have gained a new respect for Swarm of the Century since I watched it again last month. Pinkie knew what she was doing all along but nopony realized it. xD  Despite her silliness, she is intelligent and has great intuition, and I don't just mean Pinkie Sense. I hope we see more of that side of her this season.

If I may quote the Super Smash Bros. announcer, "NO CONTEST."  Swarm of the Century was a great episode, but it doesn't hold a candle to May the Best Pet Win.  I stand by my earlier comment of, "A Fluttershy/Rainbow Dash duet is superior to, well... everything."

May the Best pet Win in my opinion. It sure had one of the best songs of season 2, at least i think so. Don't know about others but to me it was much more engaging than The Swarm of the Century.

I don't really care much for Swarm of the Century. Pinkie annoyed me because she couldn't just outright say, "Okay, so I know what to do. We're going to lure them out with music. I need all of your help". I guess that would screw up the moral, but it still bugs me that Pinkie couldn't just tell her friends her plan.  

 

May the Best Pet Win has an awesome song, moral and hilarious moments with the pets. Rainbow bugged me a bit when I first watched it, but rewatching it now that I like Rainbow more made my respect for this episode go up. Still, why did Fluttershy go along with the animal contest? You'd think she'd be scared that her animals would get hurt, but nope. She acted like it was an awesome idea, which I think was slightly out of character for her.  <_<

 

Over that that, May the Best Pet Win wins with flying colors. Not literally.

I loved May The Best Pet Win and the episode following it because I love narcissistic, self centered Rainbow Dash who has a soft side! Also, I actually enjoyed Fluttershy in an episode not focused on her. That alone deserves praise.

 

Swarm Of The Century was another one of those forgettable Season 1 episodes to me.

Definitely May The Best Pet Win. It has one of my favorite songs in it as well as the fact the it's a Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash episode! May The Best Pet Win left a big impression on me while Swarm Of The Century was more of a 'ngh' episode for me. So definitely May The Best Pet Win.

May The Best Pet Win, wins this round. Swarm of the Century was legit, but it didn't hold a candle to the pets good performance in a episode.

While May the Best Pet Win has a great song, the rest of the episode was extremely forgettable, boring, and mildly out of character for Rainbow Dash. Season two had four to five very iffy episodes, and MtBPW was one of them. It's a completely different case with Swarm of the Century, where it was zany and chaotic, but still had a much better told, more interesting story.

This is... yeah. More difficult than round four and now I'm really having trouble thinking which might be that little bit better than the other. Swarm of the Century had a pretty damn big impact on me with the ending how Pinkie somehow knew what parasprites were and Twilight didn-... wait... WHAT? Pinkie knew what parasprites were but Twilight didn't? Feh, that didn't really bother me, and yes, I did realise that fact before I even started writing this comment. Still, it was simply hilarious when everyone panics and Pinkie's just chilling and ignoring everyone to get as many instruments as possible. "Don't worry! I'll save you!' or something along those lines and 'saves' a flute instead of Rarity. That one cracked me up.

 

Then... May the Best Pet Win.. ahhh. I knew where it was heading. It was too blatantly obvious where it was heading. That tortoise will win! That tortoise won! I am now psychic! Still, same as with Swarm of the Century... it didn't bother me all that much at all. I was hoping for that ending. If, for some reason, it didn't end like that... well, what exactly is the point of the episode? It was humorous/kinda upsetting watching the tortoise try its best in something that's, well... impossible for it. I kinda feel like it's the Hare and the Tortoise scenario for some reason. Basically since every other pet is faster than the tortoise is and that the tortoise is... well... a tortoise and happens to somehow win against all odds.

 

Anyway, Swarm of the Century has one of my favourite background music. Seriously, how can you not bop your head to it? Yes, I'm talking about the 'Pinkie's Parasprite Polka', and it will be permanently etched into my memory because of the ending where's the parasprites are all bopping along behind her. There's just something about that scene that really touched me.

 

At this point I'm still trying to decide which one to vote for, but I think I'll give the vote to May the Best Pet Win simply because it has more depth to it than Swarm of the Century. Rainbow Dash's disgust of Tank and having to come to terms of just what sort of personality Tank has which none of the other pets displayed... it was a very nice scenario and really drives into people's heads that looks don't equal personality.

Today's Matchup: A Dog And A Pony Show VS The Cutie Mark Chronicles

Cutie Mark Chronicles. Loved the Mane 6's stories on how they got their marks. It made me want more stories of the lesser ponies getting their cutie marks.

This is a tricky one because I enjoy both episodes in different ways. A Dog and Pony show was a quest-adventure episode, and The Cutie Mark Chronicles was more of the ponies' history.

 

Cutie Mark Chronicles wins it al fin y al cabo. At first I thought it felt it had a "One pony to the next" sort of feel, but I loved hearing about all of their stories :3

Cutie mark chronicles. Because it gave so much background information, and the stories where very interesting, not to mention all Filly versions of the mane 6 where adorable .

 

Also the "AND THATS HOW EQUESTRIA WAS MADE" Thing is.. I just love that quote sorry .

 

Dog and pony show was cool to, but Cutie mark chronicles in my opinion was just so much better.
