This is my first time using both PS and AI in my art.  I cleaned up and colored a sketch from an artist named TeddyB.

 

The original is below the image, to compare.  Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.

This is really nice man, great job. I'm good at sketching and inking, but whenever I try to draw a pony, I fail. Just can't do it, I guess. What pencil do you use? I just use an old 0.3mm Pentel mechanical pencil. I've tried Faber Castel and Zebra, but they're not as great as people say they are.

that reminds of a image I was saw.. I saw I know it from some were. looks most like a display picture actually. I just can't put my figure on whos though. sort  of anywazs

 

btw I would remove the one eye brow from here face ( the one that should be covered by her hair

The original artist, from what I recall was said, had used a plain ol' pencil and some paper.  I usually do that as well.  Though when I go digital, I usually use GIMP and create a sketching tool for that.  It's easy, just take a new tool, make it an airbrush, lower the size to around 10 or until you feel comfortable with it, and lower the opacity to at least 30%.  That always works for me, and it feels good.

Oh, I noticed the brow you were talking about, but I think it's there to show her facial reaction to better effect.  Removing it sort of lowers it a bit, so I kept it.  Thanks though, I had thought about that for a while whether or not to remove it.

I mostly do vectorized images, and have a little difficulty with sketches.  That's not me saying I can't do sketches, but they could do with some work.  Right now I'm trying to update my story on FimFic, but if you can send me a sketch of your OC, I can take a gander at trying.  If anything, a pose of her would work.  Now, if I do this, it might be a while since I'm doing a lot of other things IRL, just so you know.

Despite the shading being a little bit off, I think it looks very good, and almost identical to the reference. Not much else to critique here, honestly. Keep up the good work.

Yeah, it was my first time shading using Photoshop.  It was difficult, since I've never done anything on that program.  If I had stuck with AI, it wouldn't have any problems there.  But I felt the image could do with the Photoshop touch, and that it would better the image as a whole over me using AI like I usually do.  And yes, I noticed some of the light sources to the shading is probably what you were talking about.  I goofed a little, and I missed it before posting.  Oh well, live and learn I suppose.

I used to draw digitally. I used a 9 x 12 inch Adesso graphics tablet and Adobe Photoshop. I haven't drawn digitally in about a year, and I've just been using Pratt sketchbooks, CardStock paper, and copic pads. I usually use Pentel pencils, and micron pens for inking.

I usually just use a pencil and some paper.  Though I've started using Bristol sketch pads for my work since I can transfer it up on computer someday.  I've got a few comics just lying about, waiting to be digitally inked in a nice monochrome look.  As for pencils, it's usually plain #2's, or Staedtler for me.  I also use micron pens, but I think I have another set that I started using since it worked better with Bristol.  I can't remember the name.

 

I was just told a little bit ago that my art was accepted over at Equestria Daily about a week ago, so that's pretty cool to see there. (#12)
