Obsidian, I'm sorry, but you're overreacting a bit - yes, we may not win, but we can still drive it home. You shouldn't let a few bad eggs ruin this for Rarity - she deserves every bit of love and attention she can get, and you shouldn't take that away from her to "spare her the humiliation" when this is just a fun competition to begin with

 

She gets love and attention in here, she needs no "love" and "attention" from those cavemen that infest the fandom. The only way Rarity will stop getting hate is not to draw attention to her, so these competitions are the completely wrong way. Maybe we should just ask the organizers of the polls to not let Rarity participate, this way everyone is happy. Raritys fans because she will not be bashed and her haters because there are no inferior caracters in their little mane4 party. They can then pat each others backs and celebrate how great friends Fluttershy, Twilight, Rainbow and Pinkie are... How tolerant and friendly everyone is... How evil the brony-haters are. And how everyone in this fandom sticks together.

 

And i had fun the last time until the haters started their "fun", thank you very much.

 

 

@@Obsidian Sky, don't let people's idiotic insults keep you from supporting the character you love.  There are always going to be people who take things like these forum polls too seriously and throw around insults, but you can't let them control who you are.  And if you don't want to listen to me, listen to Rarity in Simple Ways... you can't change who you are to make someone else happy.  You have to stick to who you are above everything else.     At the end of the day, there's always going to be jerks, and whether Rarity wins or not, the jerks will still be there, so you might as well show off Rarity's popularity on the forum.  Sure that might make someone make a rude comment about Rarity, but it might also make someone take a second look at Rarity and realize how great she is.  I think that's worth fighting for.

 

It's nice to see those motivational speeches, the sad thing is you never see these people that throw big words out there when the bashing actually happens. Where are you people when it actually matters?

And i don't want people to take a second look at Rarity, because no one will start to like her because their favorite has been beaten in a competition by that "greedy bitch".

 

The only reason Rares got so much less hate this season is because they have no ammunition, does not mean that they will not be back in full force next season...

I don't know how encouragement is supposed to help, it changes nothing. The haters are out there, they are the majority and they just wait to have a trigger to jump on us again.

 

Maybe the encouragement would have worked if i would still be able to think that this fandom has a good side to it.

I was enthusiastic and optimistic in season one, everything that remains now is frustration and disgust.

Precisely today i've gave an speech about Applejack's situation on the World Cup,on the Applejack Fan Club

 

I'm talking directly as a fan of Applejack,who won the March Madness Tournament against all the things...

 

We could think the same as the Rarity fans...More Applejack Fans=More Hate

 

But we've going through the same hate cart as Rarity fans,and winning the championship didn't made more hate.On its place,it made people to think again about Applejack,and on her roles.

It resulted on more Applejack love,and an increase on the fans,and even people started to like Applejack more,putting her on a high tier on their "Favourite Pony List"

 

What i'm saying is that don't say that "If we win,we'll be more hated".

Unless you fight against Applejack,you have powerful allies on your side,and not even the Rainbow Dash fans will be enought to stop Rarity.

 

I only ask for 1 thing.We all want a fair competition,to not repeat the same errors from the March Madness.

 

If you're going to say again that "I'm wrong",think that both Applejack and Rarity fans were and are passing through the same situation...

Maybe if you quit looking at every aspect of the fandom as some giant best pony war, you could get a little enjoyment out of it.  Every post you've made is lumping people into giant groups and you're attacking them like everybody who doesn't think Rarity is best pony is out to get you.  I tried to be supportive and instead of replying to me as a person, maybe using my name, or just saying "you", you instead replied to "you people".  You're constantly referring to 'the haters' like there's a giant Rarity hating cult who has no purpose in this fandom other than to insult Rarity.

 

Yes, there are people that hate Rarity, and that's terrible.  But until you can get past the fact that they are out there and move on you won't ever get any enjoyment out of this fandom.

You want to talk about hate in a fandom?  I've been called a retard, compared to Hitler, had personal contact information leaked, and things I can't say on this forum for fear of getting banned for repeating them said to me.  And why was that?  Mainly because I liked the 80's chipmunks instead of the cgi renditions.  A friend of mine in that fandom had a detailed description sent to her on fanfiction of how that person would murder her over her views about the show.  I used to be an admin of a Chipmunk forum... when I quit our ban list was longer than our list of active members.  I have seen my closest friends have every aspect of their life eaten up because they were so focused on defending their favorites in the Chipmunk fandom that they couldn't focus on anything else in their life.  That's what I was dealing with.  

 

Maybe I just have a diluted view because of what I dealt with there, but to me this fandom is paradise.  You need to stop letting these arguments consume you or they will do just that.

The situation is not the same for Rarity and Applejack... Applejack gets ignored, Rarity gets hated.

 

People saw that Applejack did well in the competition, wondered why so many people vote for her, and found out how great a character she actually is. Look Simon, this is the first mayor fandom im really invested in, maybe invested way too much, so i cannot really compare it to other fandoms. But what i see here seems horrible to me.

Maybe i was deceived with the whole "Friendship and Tolerance" bullshit that obviously does not exist. In which i really believed some time ago, to be completely honest. When i joined i actually thought that phrase had some meaning. I was naive, and im still way too much so.

 

I don't have a problem with people that don't have Rares as their favorite, or people that even dislike her for comprehensible reasons, but i have problems with people that just flat out hate her.

And yes, i think that Rarity has way more haters than every other mane6, i don't think that they are organised, but i think they are more numerous than people that actually like her.

 

We came from the opposite side of the spectrum, you and me, you basically came from a fandom that was hell, and when i came here i expected heaven...

I was mainly addressing me being addressed as "you people" instead by my name.  And I'm all for healthy argument... I was one of the heads of my debate team and just graduated from law school... I thrive on healthy argument... but at the point when you're saying that there's nothing good in this fandom, it's not healthy anymore.

I can concur with that.

 

There are plenty of things good in this fandom. It is just the fact that there are so many negative stereotypes, within and outside our group, that it is obscuring what good is there.

Well,it's true...

Rariry hate has been practically became a part of the fandom...on the past

 

Look well at how Rarity fans are now.When Ghostie first entered the forum,it was bad to be a Rarity fan.He changed that,and now everyone is happier.

 

And Applejack fans had a seeming problem with the hate,and the "Background Pony",even reaching a point where an Applejack toy is exchanged for a DJ-PON3 toy(McDonnalds)

 

Maybe you have settled that idea on your head,and it'll not change soon.

But you need to have faith...Nowadays,less and less people shows Rarity hate like it was on the past,and people is learning to accept Rarity

My admission; when I first started watching the show, Rarity was a pony I did not care much for.  But over time, I have started to warm up to her.

 

If I met her IRL prior, I would have rolled my eyes and thought 'oh no, not the overdramatic one.'  But now I would welcome her if we did meet.

Alright, enough.

 

I've told you time and time again you're welcome here, just as is everyone who is willing to show appreciation for Rarity, whether she's their best pony or least favorite. If someone can show appreciation for Rares, than they're always welcome. Rarity Paige Belle used to be a Rarity hater, and, so have others who post here. They're welcome here, as are you, regardless of how you perceive others to be feeling about your behavior.

 

No one is frustrated with you, and no one dislikes you. Everyone wants you here - people just disagree sometimes. That's a fact of life. We disagree in this fan club every now and again, and that's normal, given our size and the amount of activity we experience in here. We make up nearly half of the posts in the new fan club subforum.

 

If you don't want to participate in the Pony World Cup, no one's forcing you to do that - I don't think you've realized that you don't need to post in there to participate, personally; you can just go in there and cast your vote for Rares when she's in a match and not read anything anyone has to say. Voting against her to spare her the humiliation is kind of you to do, but unnecessary. If you don't want to go in there at all, that's fine too. No one is forcing you to do anything, I was just worried that you had received the wrong impression of how these tourneys usually work because the first one you experienced ended up with a flame war due to other members' posting inappropriate pictures. They usually don't work like that, and the person to blame for spamming that awful, offensive stuff was both A.) scolded for his behavior accordingly and B.) admitted to not being used to the nature of these kinds of forums, being more used to the nature of /mlp/. While that's certainly no excuse for him to behave that way, I highly doubt it'll happen again.

 

What you need to do is just sit back and enjoy yourself. Don't worry so much - browse some Rarity fanart or read a Rarity fic or something along those lines I know that has somewhat of a calming effect on me, and I know a few good ones if you need help picking a fic out or a place to find good Rarity art

 

Now, settle down, it's not as bad as you think. This little enclave has been carved out for Rarity fans to have a bit of a sanctuary away from people who behave in the manner that you claim them to, and it needs to remain a happy, positive place for that reason
