longgone 873 September 16, 2012 Share September 16, 2012 The first time I read it, I hadn't cried that much since my grandpa's funeral lol. It's really the only fan-fic I've ever read..that is..besides cupcakes. Not much of a reader, but I do have a fluttershy fic on my pc incase I ever feel like reading . Zerul 555 September 16, 2012 Share September 16, 2012 (edited) When I read it,it was a little sad but nothing over the top. The reading however, gave me feels that lasted a few hours. The music the guy chose for it was so fitting Edited September 16, 2012 by OdinForced 2 "Why, am I not royal enough for you? Ferret Girl 2,642 September 16, 2012 Share September 16, 2012 I cried a little, and then I was thinking about it the rest of the day... Then I read the sequel, and I grew happy again... Seriously read the sequel... WHAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!! WHAT SEQUEL???? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? I command you to spill your beans! As for the OP's question... The beginning of the story itself was enought o make me feel very emotional, there wwere several moments where I let out tears, not only in the sad moments, but in the awww, loving moments. By the end, I had a waterfall coming out of my eyes, and awkward stares from my nine year old sister who couldnt leave well enough alone. It truly is an emotional piece and I love it. But I must say that the ending, with the main six, although touching, fells as though it was rushed through and not written as well as it could have been. Dusty Soul 2,614 September 16, 2012 Share September 16, 2012 WHAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!! WHAT SEQUEL???? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? I command you to spill your beans! There is this amazing sequel that makes the story feel complete. It is just awesome, I'll post the link... http://www.fimfiction.net/story/5284/My-Little-Dashie%3A-A-sequel It is just amazing... talkingmuffin 32 September 16, 2012 Share September 16, 2012 WHAAAAAAAAAAAT!!!!!!! WHAT SEQUEL???? WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!? I command you to spill your beans! There is a sequel but its not written by the same author, so tbh, I don't consider it canon (funny ain't it). Initially when I first read the story, I read it reluctantly since alot of people were talking about it so I decided to give a read. While there is big chunks of plot holes along with parts that the author just forced himself to the story to continue it some scenes were placed together pretty well. For example, the section where they are under the tree was pretty moving even with said flaws above. Also, I have to admit nothing was more fitting than this line with that background: "D-dad... Do you still love me?" I have to admit, that for some mystifying reason, that opened my tear ducts for a good while. Another I have to applaud is the final part with the letter. Never before did I cry so much over a fan fiction when it goes through all the heartwarming memories in the letter. Though, While touching, it would be even more potent if it could be related as a passing away of a loved one since with this father daughter bonding metaphor, nothing would be more emotional.
Midnight Seeker 302 September 16, 2012 Share September 16, 2012 First time I read MLD was . . . interesting. I'd seen a picture someone had made on Deviant Art (the photo of Rainbow Dash hugging her human father), and thought I should check it out. It's worth noting that at that point, I was in major denial about liking the show and suffered bouts of whiny self hatred (It wasn't til later that I found out that the dark forces where cool with me loving My Little Pony). I was a fan of Cupcakes, Sweet Apple Massacre, The Experiments of Twilight Sparkle and Silent Ponyville. I read My Little Dashy and found myself totally enthralled by the story. By the end of it, I was in tears. It wasn't till a little later that I admitted to myself that I really did love the show, but I can say the MLD helped. 1 Avatar of OC by the lovely Skullgal56
Lost 1,411 September 16, 2012 Share September 16, 2012 I just finished listening to it being read by mic the microphone, it's a rather good story, sad, but it didn't bring me to tears, although it did bring me close. So far the only thing that has made me shed a tear MLP related is the "save derpy" video, every time I watch it I shed a few tears. 1 Your friendly neighborhood alcoholic motorcyclist Life is too short to worry what others think of you, be creative, be weird, live life. It is no ware near as good as the first but if you are feeling really sad than it kinda helps take the sadness away. Well it was inspired from a comic someone made. So I wouldn't say he was delusional, He just wrote a more "in-depth" story version from this. You're not the only one...despite my feels, I still think it's really overrated and rather unoriginal. Oh well great story. Not as sad as Rusty's Quest though.Rusty's Quest seriously had me depressed for an entire day, and a little after that too. For me, I was bored on day and had seen some people reference MLD on MLP clips on YouTube. I'd read Cupcakes a little while prior to this, so I didn't know what to think. I read the story but I didn't cry...on the outside anyway. On the inside, however, saddest I've ever been. Right after reading the story (and a few moments of mentally debating with myself), I started watching the show, starting at Season 1 Episode 1, and I can't remember how many episodes I watched. Overall, the story was excellent and, without it, I might not have even watched the show. So huge thanks to ROBCakeran53 for making me who I am today! On a side note, as a sort of tradition, I plan to re-read the story each year to celebrate the day I became a brony. It's just my way of celebrating, although I do want to see if I'll cry this time. Also, I think that day will be a day I can really reflect on the past year and everything that's been accomplished in it. Here's a brohoof to all my fellow bronies! /) Edited September 16, 2012 by whoovesfan7698

PonyEcho 1,610 September 29, 2012 Share September 29, 2012 well the first time i read did my thoughts were 'meh not bad......' then i gave it a second read to kinda analyse it because i like to review things and notice it kinda sucked mainly because it fell like their was a lack of creativity near the end and the Celestia and Mane 6 Cameo cheapen the story, and the beginning and the end are the same 'oh i'm sad i'll go for a walk' along with some other issues. 1 my DA http://heavyecho.deviantart.com/ check my stuff out the Anime Club http://mlpforums.com/topic/48196-the-anime-club/ plz join us
Redthir 42 September 29, 2012 Share September 29, 2012 I was hugely impressed by the story, personally. Maybe it's just because I'm a Rainbow Dash fan, but nonetheless I felt that it was incredibly well written - and I was consistantly shedding tears. Putting aside the fact that RD is my favourite character, choosing her added so much meaning. A young man who has little to live for, in a decaying world where nothing is good and all borders on oppressive. Rainbow Dash to me is a symbol of freedom, with her "There's nothing I can't do" type attitude, and of course her supreme flying skills to roam wherever she pleases. I hope my post makes sense. Lightning Fluttershy 1,845 September 29, 2012 Share September 29, 2012 MLD was the first fiction I ever read, but not the best. All though I did cry while reading it and I enjoyed the story and writing, there are better fictions out there. Want a sad yet beautiful fiction? Go read Yours Truly by Thanqoi. Possibly the best written, most beautiful story I've ever read. It made me cry and feel emotions for the characters I had never felt before. Vanguard 123 September 29, 2012 Share September 29, 2012 I loved MLD it was my first fan fic i had ever read, and i'm glad it was, i'm not an emotional person especially on fictional thing and it actually made me cry a little (the first fictional story ever to do that) it is one of my favourates right next to University Days. Cherry Blossom 864 September 29, 2012 Share September 29, 2012 I really did cry a bit, but I easily tear up a lot anyway. The story was truly sad in my opinion, but I did like how the concept worked. Jokuc 8,176 September 29, 2012 Share September 29, 2012 Felt like formal. That fanfic is waaaaaay overrated. Seriously. It's not as sad as people say it is. And the people who says you're not a true brony if you not think that is sad, wtf guys? Let people have their own opinion. It wasn't that sad imo.
