Anyone else feel this way about Minecraft?

So; I was sat around, minding my own business playing Trouble in Terrorist Town on Garry's Mod. All of a sudden, a party of about 10 kids joins, and the first thing they do is Rock The Vote (They basically force us to change the map.) Meticulously after that, 10 votes straight away are allocated to the Minecraft map. I've always been forced to play this map, and the admin can't do anything about it, so we were forced to play the Minecraft map for AGES.

This, coupled with my house being frequently invaded by my two younger cousins who are always forcing me into letting them on Minecraft on my 360 (They sit next to me and yell "MINECRAFT!" until I do), has just made me despise it now.

It's a little kid magnet now, and I hate a game that I once loved because of whinging little kids!

(Note that I don't hate my cousins, I'm directing this more at the legions of kids on the Internet)

I guess the real purpose of this thread is to ask; Has there ever been a game that moaning children have made you hate because they suck the fun out of it? I really do believe that video games are today's babysitters.

The majority of the Minecraft community is pretty good, however I guess the game does attracted alot of younger kids. Maybe it has to do with kids like to build stuff idk.

I like Minecraft, I mean I don't play it extreamly often or anything, but its fun to play every once and a while, especially with friends.

I guess the way Minecraft is made its fans are more subjected to being younger kids.

Then again theres alot of younger kids who end up playing COD, so maybe younger kids are just involved in everything now.

My little cousin likes minecraft, although he also likes COD, and Skyrim, and Zombies.. Yeah so normally one of those overrids his minecraft desires. Not that its any less strange for him to be playing COD or skyrim, but ya know :P.

I don't let a community for a game determine whether I play it or not. Besides I was apart of the Minecraft forums pretty actively a while back and there community is pretty good overall, its got a bit worse lately, but its still better then some places I've been.

Like all fandoms I guess they have their disadvantages.

Little kids in multiplayer games are almost always annoying. Sadly, this is a fact of modern gaming. And any group who comes onto a server and then forces a map change through sheer numbers is annoying as hell, not just MC kiddies :/

Anyway, I like the older MC community. The ones who get on reddit and have intelligent discussions with Jeb and Dinnerbone about new stuff that should be added, mod makers, and helpful people on forums. I still play MC every now and then. Mostly just Creative for fun builds, or Hardcore to see how long I can last as a nomad.

I should add that my 11 year old sister plays a lot of MC, and she doesn't annoy me in the slightest (well, she does in other ways, but not through MC).

Kind of sounds a lot like first person shooter games to me! I often poke fun at my friends for being beaten by nine year olds, but it's all in good fun though and it gives us quite a few laughs.

Ok, seriously though, I haven't really experienced that. I started enjoying minecraft again after figuring out how to use the magical tool world edit and started playing around with everything, like making huge underwater tunnels and underground towns. It's sort of like the city of ember with a moderately large village in the middle, but massive unlit tunnels that stem away from it in every which direction for ages. It would be a fun idea for an adventure map, really.

I'm more of a fan of building things like that as opposed to survival mode.

I think this basically happens to a lot of games. I remember buying TF2 a few months before it went F2P. You'd rarely find annoying 8-year-olds with mics anywhere.

Since it went F2P, well, basically any server has at least one of those kids.

Now, about Minecraft. I can't say I've really noticed it, aside from the occasional clueless player who doesn't even know where to start. I should however add that, I've met several young players online (12 years or younger) who act sensible and don't do stupid things like force map changes or spam the chat with useless stuff, etc.

A lot of people I know have had this experience. One of my friends said an Admin that was like 10 years old kicked him for no reason. I don't know a whole lot about GM. It might just be better to find a new game.

on the contrary, me and one of my friends have played mincraft with his little brother, and the things that kid has built have been amazing.

I make a house out of lapis, he makes a castle out of diamond with a dining room made of gold and a huge theater.

This is the exact reason why I don't like Minecraft. It has been invaded by whining spoiled 10 year olds and in my country, you're worthless on Youtube if you're not a "minecr*pper" as my friends usually say it and everyone wants to force it on you. It's kinda like how a trolled and loved/tolerated MLP hater feels really.

The weird thing is...I totally used to be one of those annoying little minecraft kids. I am so embarrassed about my minecraft obsession.

Now I sometimes play it but I find it really boring and I only really play it when i'm watching a movie or something.

But I do know what you mean by...kids loving minecraft...allot.

I have a friend who is a super duper nice kid but we're kinda drifting apart, i'm sixteen and he's only twelve. But I still invite him over because I don't want to be a jerk and say 'no I never want to see you again'

Anyway, he reaaaaaallly likes Minecraft and when he comes over...that's pretty much all we do...play Minecraft...

I never really got into the whole Minecraft craze. Never played it, and probably never will.

Though I do find that some little kids can be annoying while playing games. Though to me, being 22 years old, some of the forum could classify as little kids to my eyes. Especially in chat. Though I don't hate little kids playing, if they're cool, its the ones who whine and just wont be quiet.

Just about any online shooter that's on Xbox and is generally played. Little kids just annoy me in general when it comes to online gaming now matter the game's rating or how mature they are.

First it was CoD that I noticed they'd take over somehow, but as I don't find Minecraft that interesting at all other than maybe for a few hours at a time (I seriously don't see how anyone can sit there all day, let alone multiple days in a row.), I have only noticed its talked about by them a lot, haven't actually seen then online on it.

Though, I wouldn't say I hate those games due to them.

I do run into a lot of little kids on the servers I play on. Fortunately, I hunt down pro-grief servers and play on those. Also fortunately, these kids don't seem to realize that the server is pro-grief. So basically, the little kids are cheap entertainment for me.

Every community has them. I've never heard good things about Gmod online and with how much lag there can be and as such I never understood the point of it outside of greiving. I usually disconnect or mute them when I do run into them in TF2. As for minecraft, I've never played online on a pub, it was always just me and a friend using the lovely .exe and as such its been largely untainted by little kids. Not that it would be anyways. I can ignore text far easier than a microphone spewing low quailty gargle into my ears.

I can neither confirm nor deny myself being the cause of electrical related malfunctions. Anyways, you wouldn't happen to have a jar of replacement magic smoke would you?

Trouble in Terrorist town is an awesome mod. I don't mind the Minecraft map, it's pretty good to sneak around as a traitor.

As for your cousins just give them.....................................................................................................................THE STARE!

Yeah, I can vouch for that. But that's not why I hate the Minecraft community. The real reason is that you HAVE to agree with them about anything. And the fact that they glorify Notch and Mojang in general.

And just try to say you don't like MC. Just try it.

That's the thing with games, everyone loves them at all kinds of ages.. now I don't mind kids.. as long as they don't yell... or ask for stuff.. or scream.. oh please don't scream.
