they are idiots for leaving considering it was there from the very beginning. ONE she has unimaginable talent and magic that made even princess celeste worry about her, TWO she found the last element of harmony: magic THREE her element of harmony was a tiara FOUR she is a natural born leader. if you look at all the facts it wasn't really surprising that she became a alicorn  but it was surprising that she took so long  to become a alicorn

Becoming an Alicorn isn't the problem....it's how they executed it that is the problem...

 

Personally, her becoming an alicorn should have been a grand finale...the last episode (or 3 parter or movie) that ends the series...How in the world can they go out with a bang now that Twilight is one of the most powerful ponies in Equestria...I mean, can't get any bigger than that?

I've done a bit of thinking.

 

Say there's around 1000-2000 active members here. This is a good sample size for the entire fandom. 1500, maybe. Did a bit of digging around and found that 40 people have left because of Twilicorn. So, this means that 1 in every 40 bronies has left the fandom. This equates to 0.025% of bronies, or 9 degrees on a PIE graph.

 

If you go on word and chuck that in a graph, that's a big blow to the fandom. :S

 

I don't doubt that most of us are staying, but I;m wondering at how you arrived at 40 people leaving the fandom.  If you base it off of what they say in their posts, not everyone's going to *announce* that they're leaving before they do so. 

 

I'd wager that at least 90% are still sticking around, though.

So.... here we are. Twilight has become an alicorn. One of my best friend betrayed me, not only has left the fandom but he has become a hater.... Now tell me, there were other bronies that left or have become haters for this? If I can say, it is very stupid to act like this...

Well, he's still a brony but HATES us because of something that happened in the show. That means that he CARES for the show even though he hates anyone associated with it.

People leave fandoms all the time, whether it's because of an event such as Twilicorn or Derpygate or they just don't feel they're connected to the community anymore.

 

I think it's fair to say that the majority of bronies are probably more into the community than the actual show itself. The show certainly got them into the fandom but they stayed because of the artwork, music, fanfics or the forums they are a part of.

 

I'd say that Twilicorn is not as big of a deal as the Derpy incident because it was a choice made by Hasbro from the start, not a change to something that was inspired by the fandom. Therefore if you're leaving now it's very likely you weren't involved much in the community to begin with. 

 

I'm not going to condemn the people that leave, it's really up to them even if I don't think Twilight becoming a princess was that much of a big deal.

But Hasbro did pull the strings on "when".  If they did it right, it would have been a more fleshed out story instead of a 1 episode musical that went too fast even for kids to understand. 

Well, that's were your wrong.. The writers had actually agreed to make the episode a musical a long time ago. Although, i agree with you.. It was way too fast.. It should have been a two parter.. But you can't forget that this episode is actually supposed to be a three parter, the next parts are in season 4.

 

This is how i would have done it..

Explanation of how the cutie marks got switched.. It would be a whole episode just about it happening..

Then the next one, she tries to find a way to fix the problem.. It would be a little bit more difficult then just put the elements of harmony on them..  She would have needed to find a way to time travel and fix everything.

Then the next episode.. after she has fixed everything.. She would have become a princess.. Or not if it was possible..

 

I honestly don't really care. I was happy with the episode.. It was better then i thought it would be. I know it was a little bit rushed.. But i trusted the writers.. If you want to blame someone for it being a musical, then you have to blame the writers since they agreed to it, i remember reading somewhere at EQD that the writers agreed to make it a musical at around the same time they agreed to make her a princess.. They wanted to do it through a musical.

 

There is really only one thing you can do, and that is trusting the writers. Lauren Faust trusted the series to them and i believe that they will do a good job with it.

The people that left the fandom are worse then the haters they didnt even give alicorn Twilight a chance, Shes only had 3 minuets of screen time and apparently that is enough for people to decide they suddenly hate something they loved. I absolutely hate this idea as well, but here I am. Still in the fandom. Sure it is the biggest changes in the show but there's more to come in season four on how Twilight will handle her new position as a princess.

i agree about the finale being way too fast because watching the episode felt like it was 5 minutes long they should have made season 3 26 episodes and made episode 25&26 the 2 part finale

Me, I'm sticking around, if at least so I could laugh and say "I told you so!" when the series crashes and burns because of Twilicorn.

 

 

...Nah, even I'd stick around for more than just that.  This series has too much good in it to be completely sunk by one potentially troublesome concept.  And who knows? Even I'm not 100% sure that it *will* turn out badly, even though I think it could be a tough path to travel down for the writers. 

 

I think that if anyone does leave the show for good, their interest/faith in the show was probably waning to begin with.

Honestly, guys...I think this is just over-reaction, and Imma bet that when Season 4 comes around, some of these bronies that left will want to come back and will be like "OH TWILICORN IS AWESOME YAY." 

 

As for myself, Twilicorn converted me to an even bigger brony than I was before. So this is more beneficial.

Doesn't matter to me how many bronies left the fandom because of Twilight becoming an alicorn. I find it very sad, but it's just how people are when they see something they don't like. I'm pretty glad that they left, we keep growing.

I just did a little bit of looking around. It's not an exact number, I'm just basing it on sample sizes, actual numbers, and estimates. Still, .025% is a troubling number. It could be less, but at the same time, it could be more.

Still, I agree, leaving the fandom because of something like this is sad. But, it goes to show the character of the person, and whether the affection they show towards something or someone is true, or just skin deep...

If their love for the show was so weak that something like this turned them into full blown haters, then maybe the fandom is better off without them after all.

 

We may lose some friends to gain some enemies, but in the end, 

we'll love them for who they were, and tolerate who they've become.

Well, in my opinion, it'll be pretty hard to be up to par with seasons 1, 2, and 3... Mainly because Twilight will feel like a Mary Sue unless the writers are geniuses.

I can't really say why this whole "butthurt" is going on.. But for me it was because i thought this was only done because hasbro wanted to make a new toy too sell. I then found out, and you can check my other posts.. That this had actually been planned a "long" time ago, Lauren Faust actually wanted it too happen.. Twilight becoming Princess Celestia's successor. Maybe, those who became "butthurt" over this, didn't do any research on the matter, afterwards..

 

The only thing i think most people are unhappy about, is her becoming immortal and the balance between the mane 6 is gone.. 2 earth ponies, 2 pegasus and 2 unicorns.

Although, like you mention, it's not like Equestria blew up or anything. Though i am not fond of the idea of her becoming an alicorn, i do not like that the balance is gone and if she has become immortal, well im not sure that she has become immortal.. But still Twilight is still Twilight.. So hopefully everything will be just fine.

 

Im still here, i trusted the writers and after i found out that this was actually something that the writers and Lauren Faust wanted to happen.. I found a way to accept it. I was never going to leave the fandom because of a one episode though, there was no reason overreacting over this, people should have just watched the episode, then draw a conclusion from it.. Although you can't since it's a three parter.. So people actually have to watch the other two.. Then they can come to a conclusion.. And take sides, whether making her an alicorn was a bad idea or not.. Maybe it was, maybe it wasn't.. We will just have to wait for season 4 too find out.

Honestly, I think fans of the show owe it to themselves to at least watch the season 4 premiere before writing off the show already just because Twilight is now an alicorn. Believe me, I don't like the idea of Twilicorn either, but I'm not quitting the series until the show's quality plummets, and that hasn't happened yet. Don't worry too much about it, the fanbase will still continue to grow and I'm sure a lot of fans are just frustrated. A lot of them will probably come back with their tail hanging between their legs.
