mega thread Favourite Musicians or Band

I can't pick a favorite band, reason being is I'm into classic rock/hard rock/metal. Kind of hard to choose.

What about specific groups

I listen to a lot of Def Leppard, AC/DC, Metallica, Iron Maiden. Pretty much anything from the Beatles to Nirvana, and anything in between.

The thing is, that genre is kind of a gray area, because there are so many similarities in genres, typically I refer to it as rock in general.

It is, but everything is so similar, it doesn't really make sense to go by genre unless you want to get really specific.

My favorite genres as of lately would be (and some of these overlap, I know) Progressive Rock, Brass Rock, Soft Rock/Oldies, (British) Folk, and most genres of Classical.

My top favorite band has been Chicago (before the 80s) for several years now.

Band - The Beatles.

Genre - Jazz (but so very very slight edge over Metal, Folk, Ska, and 90's Punk/Grunge)

I bet I'll be hearing the Beatles a lot lol. My father's been obsessed with them for ages.

Pink Floyd seems to be rather popular among us as well.

Stewart Copeland's my idol for Percussion put a real middle eastern spin on generally Caribbean based music, and yeah, composed the soundtrack of Spyro.

I was wondering what the musical tastes of our fandom encompass so I'll ask a simple musical question. What's your favorite band/group/artist or genre

My personal favorite genres are Progressive Rock, New Wave, Art Rock, Space Rock, Reggae Rock, Alternative Rock, and neo-classical.

My favorite band is probably The Police(as you can see from my avatar)

Your Current avatar..............is my answer, lol.  They are my favorite band, :)

As for genre's, i like:

  • New Age/Electronic (look up Isao Tomita)
  • Soundtracks
  • 80's pop, rock, dance, disco.

I'd have to go with Simple Plan. The reason is because these guys have always been there for me. I can relate easily to most of their songs, and they've also helped me cope with my everyday challenges. They've also helped me to stop cutting myself as well. This band has actually saved my life a number of times, and I love them more than anything for that.

I don't really have any reasons for my other favorites, other than just liking them. They are really good towards their fans though, so that's probably why. Some of them include We Are the in Crowd, All Time Low, My Chemical Romance, Black Veil Brides, Of Mice & Men and many more. Some of them I grew up with like My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy, Simple Plan and Green Day too.

death grips

1. originality: every album by them is COMPLETELY different from each other, ranging from post industrial punk to trip hop, they on themselves are already very experimental and unique, but that coupled with how different every song sounds its the cherry on top.

2. cripticism: this isnt music that you cant simply listen and feel like you know all, reading the lyrics, seeing the music videos and overall analizing the entire album is necesary to understand the picture they try to paint in every album,.

3.energy: just like queen, who mind you they didint had that great lyricism, but what made them great was the energy, the live shows they put out were amazing, same with death grips, their music and the way mc ride screams just forces you to get up and mosh pit, and trash everything, it gives you the fever (aye aye).

all of this already puts them ahead of 90% of bands and musicians that exist or existed.

the cherry on top.

4.perfect combination: this is one of those bands that just can take a shitload of genres, fuze them together and actually make it work, combinding death metal with hip hop and acid house and actually make it a banger song is not easy.

I love the band Fit For A King because, first off, their lyrics can strike someone pretty deep if they're not just listening to the sick riffs this band can put out.

Second, they just sound heavenly.

Can't decide between The Who,The Police, and Pink Floyd, all of them true virtuosos and masters of their respective genres. Floyd and The Who definitely have a much more impressive and expansive discography than The Police, but that doesn't compensate for talent. I'm still on the fence between who conceived my favorite rock opera, The Wall, or Quadrophenia.
