music Your Favourite Relaxing Piece of Music

An Old Head

Recommended Posts

A lot of us Bronies seem to be into rock 'n roll and dubstep - but I think we all love a piece of music to chill out to. What's your favourite to do so? Can be from anywhere - artist, video game, TV show, etc.

Here's my favourite - the Boat Quay Town music out of Maplestory.

Post yours! (\

I find most music that has a straight rhythm to it very soothing and relaxing. However this seems to cover most of the ponystep songs.

Believe it or not, I'm actually quite calmed by progressive metal pieces! This one especially, it has this dark aura that just let's you release all your problems. I'm one of those guys that rely on music for most comfort, without music I would be nothing XD

Dude I love ambient and IDM, that stuff is way better than crappy Dubstep wobbles

If you don't believe me, then listen to this Aphex Twin album

Easily one of my all time favorite albums

And also this Squarepusher song is incredible

Despite how much I love Taps and think that he's the greatest brony musician

He has tracks that are way more atmospheric and relaxing than that one

But still that one is a good example of what he can do

This is another reason why I love the band Foreigner so much.  Along with their hard rock songs and power ballads, they can make something like this.

Do I even need to say anything about this?  Just listen to that guitar, and the fact that it's Eric Clapton.

I love to listen to music.  But music to relax to?  I have plenty of artists and bands for that.  I'd recommend The Rippingtons album, Modern Art for some good relaxation music.

Oh yeah, I agree. Aphex Twin is a wonderful artist. I love me some ambient every now and then, 'specially Ptolemy. Tha's another favourite of mine from him, though I don't think it's on Selected Ambient Works.

This might be weird for what calms me down, but this song really does calm me down.

And trust me, even some hardcore stuff can be relaxing to some.

Yep Tha is on SAW 85-92

I'm happy that I'm not the only one out there who knows Aphex Twin

Seriously there's a reason why Richard D. James is on my list of people who inspire me

I'm gonna put an Aphex Twin song as the song of the week, I think that's a good idea

My personal faves from SAW 85-92 are Xtal, Heliosphan, We Are The Music Makers, and Pulsewidth

The song "Music of the Night" from the Phantom of the Opera is really relaxing to me. I listen to it on repeat every night; it's like a lullaby. I can just close my eyes and get lost in the song.

Oh, nonono I didn't misspell "That". There was a track called "Tha". The track Tha, is another favourite of mine from him. n.n

I love those four as well - another one from SAW 85-92 that I like (it's more scary than relaxing though) is Hedphelym. It's got that twisted siren feel to it, I feel like I'm a war zone when it's playing. :P

Yeah I noticed that

But anyways Tha is from SAW 85-92 as well

And you think that Hedphelym is scary?

Wait until you hear the stuff from SAW Vol. II

That stuff is the real nightmare giver

My favourite relaxing music would currently be these two:

They're quite calming and put me into a trance-like state. I sometimes like to listen to some serene OSTs from animes and games as well.

Some of my favorites:

When I want to listen to chill out music it's mostly post rock and soundtracks. Artists such as Hans Zimmer and Sigor Ros are my favorites smile.png.

Guys...I've got the most relaxing thing ever...plus this game is like one of the best ever! It's a very nice peaceful relaxing song i think :3

Oh man, I remember that game. The nostalgia!

Also, Bop Alloy makes some pretty chill jazz hop. Most jazz hop is chill anyway, but Bop Alloy is chill-er. Their second album has an instrumental release for all it's tracks, which is beyond normal levels of chill. Plus, Substantial worked with the legendary Nujabes, so he knows how it works.
