Thoughts on Twilight's friends becoming Alicorns?

No I wouldn't. It devalues the status of being an alicorn. its like how a character struggles to become stronger, only everyone else to do the exact same thing with no trouble at all.

 

Besides, some of the characters have no need of alicorn powers so why give them to them Rainbow wouldn't use magic to fly faster, AJ wouldn't use it to harvest Apples as it would remove the enjoyment of the hard work she enjoys.

Agreed. Especially the part about some not needing it. Not like characters such as RD or Pinkie need anymore powers than they already have. And Rarity would simply whine about not having fabulous wings.

That would probably ruin the whole purpose of becoming an alicorn, lose it's value, and instead of earning your ascension it would easily be gift wrapped to you. The other five don't need to become an alicorn as well because, they are already happy with who they are and have no need to become royalty.

No. Everypony has pretty much stated it already. It would take away the value, and it would really be pointless. Although I wouldn't put it past Hasbro to do it anyway, so that they can sell 5 more toy sets.

Oh yeah, same here... It's really weirdo made up now. It's at the right upper corner, but don't search like that directly.

 

Click on the search icon in the right top corner -> Press on the wheel next to the search bar thingy -> On the third row, click "Only Search in Titles" and write what you want to search for at the top search box.

I get that this way Twilight is overrated, but the point is that she deserved such a reward. It's not for everypony. With all mane 6 turning into Alicorns...

 

1. The whole point of "royalty" in MLP would be ruined, making it seem like literally everyone can enter it. I do realize mane 6 aren't "everyone" and that they are indeed very special, but they are still 6 ponies. All in all, not that many royal princesses are in Equestria at the moment.
2. The mane 6 would have to part. They can't all rule together. Maybe 2 or 3 together, yes, but all 6? Just no. And they'd be all to busy to meet.
3. The whole show would become pointless.

Personally I believe that MLP is heading towards having all of the mane six become Alicorns and replace Celestia and Luna.

It does make sense if you look at the thing as a whole. (about to dive into deep head-cannon and theories)

 

Princess Celestia knew that since she no longer controlled the Elements of Harmony that she needed to find ponies who could wield them. So she began searching for the ponies destined to save all of Equestria. She set up the school for gifted Unicorns for the sole purpose of finding Twilight. She began training Twilight herself once she found her.

I would also be willing to bet that Celestia had found the rest of the mane six by observing them from a far (what do you think that telescope was for?). She arranged for those who already didn't live in ponyville to somehow make a living there. Rainbow Dash and Fluttershy both hale from Cloudsdale, and somehow ended up in good ole' ponyville. Pinkie Pie also was raise outside of ponyville, but somehow ended up there.

On the 1000th year after banishing Luna to the moon Celestia arranged to have the Summer Sun Celebration in Ponyville and sent Twilight to check on preparations. It was already arranged by Celestia for Twilight to meet up with each of the other elements who were all in charge of one part of the preperation or another, with the exception of Pinkie Pie, whom Celestia trusted to find Twilight without any help.

Celestia would have been counting on Twilight to discover for herself that her new friends were in fact the Elements of Harmony. Why else would she have left the task of defeating Nightmare Moon to Twilight? Her famous line directly after MMN's defeat was "I knew you could do it" That just screams of Trollestia's devine planning!

Now that she's found new bearers of the Elements, she won't want to let them die and leave Equestria without it's best form of defense. She needs all six of them to become alicorns so they'll always be around to save Equestria. Besides, She's much older than a 1000 years old, I'm sure both she and Luna would be looking forward to the eternal rest of death, knowing that their beloved kingdom is safe forevermore. 

That would leave Equestria to be ruled by a total of 7 princesses in the end, unless Cadence gives up her Alicornhood so she won't outlive her husband and any possible children. 

 

Which I know that is whole theory is pretty far-fetched, but if handled properly, I'm sure the team could pull it off, and they could still keep the show running even with all the mane cast as princesses, by having the CMC take over as the mane characters of the show, possibly as adults and follow their adventures.

Honestly, there's almost no contest that this would be a bad idea. As Hawkflame said on the first page, it doesn't relate to any of them, except Twilight, of course. None of the others have the 'spark' that was bespoken of in the season one premier, nor that was referenced in season two's premier. It just wouldn't make much sense.

 

As a side note, it'd probably jumble up their ambitions quite a lot, as well.

 

(Edit: It would also seem like headcanon would take effect, as all of the mane six becoming alicorns would be delving into the realm of fanfiction a bit too much.)

if you read the MLP crystal heart spell chapter  book she is tells twilight about how she became an alicorn and that she was a Pegasus beforehand ( and im 98% sure these books are canon)

I'm indifferent about Alicorn Twilight, first off; you knew it was going to happen eventually. She was being groomed to be a princess one day. The only problem I had with it was how soon they did it. I hate talking about the end of this incarnation but...I think it would've worked better had it been a series finale. It can be saved, though, so I'm not complaining.

 

But, if one of her friends becomes an Alicorn, they ALL better become alicorns.

 

But, personally, I'm not too big on the idea of any of the others besides Twilight becoming an Alicorn. Plus, dude, I already think they sorta botched Twilicorn by doing it too early; that's for much later on in the series.

 

So, basically...the writers are grasping for an interesting plot twist without concern of how it affects the series in the future.

I think a past gen has done this before....With this gen, I do not see it happening. Becoming an Alicorn Princess was Twilight's destiny. It actually makes sense with her. The other 5 don't really fit that same destiny, it just is not in their character, to me at least. Rainbow Dash for example, her destiny is clearly, to become a Wonderbolt someday or at least I would think it is, so, that does not fit into that equation. The others are the same way, with whatever their destiny might be.

It would be very dissapointing to me to see this happen, and I will go mad as a hatter if it happens by the end of this season!  In fact I'm foolishly holding out hope that Twilight returns to normal, and Celestia says something like "when the time has come that your are needed as a princess you will ascend once more" or something along those lines. What's Twilight even the princess of? friendships? Rarity the Princess of Fashion would be just plain silly!
