gaming Pokemon X and Y Discussion Thread

I see. While we wait for the Pokebank, we can try out what other Pokémon are best at. Some are best at sweeping while some are best at taking hits.

Yeah. There's a good variety of Pokemon in this game, about 450 are catchable amongst X and Y alone. It's really quite impressive.

That is true. There's like a countless number of different Pokémon teams we all see. I wonder what Pokémon you would have in your Pokémon team if you choose to play competitively?

My main team is Gredinja, Charizard, Sylveon, Azumarill, Roserade, and Snorlax. They're all level 100 with max EVs and most of them have max hearts on Pokemon Amie. I'm not the best EV trainer, so I can't say I'd be very good but I have won a few online battles. Haven't really gotten much of a chance to battle online because I'm more interested in being a collector than actually battling but hey, beating a bunch of people in Pokemon battles isn't as much of an interest for me. x3

Ah, I see. Still, that's a very good Pokémon team you got there. All I can say is, good luck on registering all Pokémon in your PokeDex! Like we always say: "Pokemon! Gotta catch them all"!

I'm kind of the opposite when it comes to that. Catching every pokemon doesn't really hold much interest for me. I'm more for finding specific pokemon and training them accordingly. That is why I choose to restart my X a few times to see which starter is best for me. While Frokkie and Fennikin are good, Chespin is the best for me. And defensive pokemon are what I like.

Thank you very much. I do enjoy my team and yeah, heehee. x3

Ah, that's nice. I do like Chespin but I don't think I'll be able to start with it for some time now, as I've already decided a long time ago that I'd start with Fennekin in Y.

I see. I chose Froakie as my starter in Pokémon X and Fennekin in Pokémon Y. For the Kanto starters in both versions, I chose Bulbasaur and Squirtle.

Am I the only one who hasn't played in weeks haha, guess I got bored of the game since I played it to death the first week it was out.

Might consider buying Y version just to do it all over again but the right way this time.

My best friend at school is criticizing X and Y because of Honedge, Boo Boo Keys, Garbodor, Vanillish, and other Pokemon.

Apparently he's too cool to get out of gen 1, and hates on the others because there are "objects" and "robot" Pokemon rather than animals...

He's butthurt. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Yeah, he should try telling Xerneas and Yveltal about what he said. But still, everypony has different likes and dislikes so we shouldn't argue about it.

i dont blame him to be honest. I'm not a fan of pokemon based off of dead objects like a key chain or an ice cream, but that's just me, I feel like its lack of creativity. I don't mind "robotic" pokemon because im a fan of Porygon and Metagoss.

I can see, sort of not really, why people are buthurt about a lot of the newer pokemon because of their appearances. But answer me this. What makes a pokemon a pokemon?

Aww man I wish I could play Pokemon X or Y. My dad was more interested in getting Call Of Duty Ghosts. I've never been up to date with the games since Diamond & Pearl and I'm not an expert.

Though I have to say; I love the mega evolution.

Haven't been playing as much lately, I did finally manage to train up a few things though, most notably a Goodra. It's weird though, I've seen people use it in a couple LPs but I never noticed how... drippy... it was, and its Pokédex entry indicates it's friendly and that it gives its trainer slimy hugs... so gross, yet so adorable...?

Anyway, I only have to train up a Skrelp yet and then I'll have all of Gen 6's Dragons, because dragons dragons dragons. :yay:

I also really need to get in the Battle Maison more, because I need more items.

I've just been milling around in pokemon. wonder trading and chateau stuff. I think I should start working on my final team now but I need a larvesta.

I've been thinking about what should go into my final team.

I want:

chandelure - shadowball, flamethrower, psychic and energyball

volcarona - fiery dance, bug buzz, quiver dance and possibly hurricane for the last move

zoroark - night daze, extrasensory, flamethrower and nasty plot

aegislash - iron head, shadow claw, knight's shield and sacred sword

I'm worried there might be some balancement issues

anybody have any suggestions for the last 2 slots?

I'd go with Dark Pulse rather than Night Daze for Zoroark, there's virtually no difference between the moves other than Night Daze being not much stronger and not 100% accurate. Also Shadow Sneak rather than Claw on the Aegislash, it loves its priority(I've 2HKO'd a Blaziken this way, for instance). And maybe Hidden Power Rock if you're able to get it on Volcarona, but Hurricane is fine as well.

Other teammates are up to you really, a Water type would be good though- perhaps Vaporeon or Blastoise(could be your Mega), and for the last slot another physical attacker, I'd recommend a Fighting or Dragon type for that.

I haven't been playing the game for a while now, but honestly I did get a bit bored with it all, I had finished everything including the post game in around 6 days.

The Looker side quest was quite nice to play through, and it was a good game, but I became way too OP too quickly.

I got a Level 100 Sylveon shortly after the Pokemon League and destroyed everything, Fairy and Ghost types are the two OP types and really should be countered somehow.

I've been working on getting some shinies, and I've gotten a Drifblim, Hawlucha, Working on getting an Eevee, Politoad, and a few more.

hmmm ok then, I have a blastoise right now I could use that or breed it.

why would volcarona need hidden power rock? is it for flying types?

Yeah a bulky Water is good for about any team, and Blastoise is certainly a good choice in that regard. ;)

And HP Rock is good on Volcarona because otherwise it has trouble against Fire types, Hurricane is alright for it too though, either or should work on it.

I think I lost confidence on my competitive battles. It's probably I took a loss back in D/P/Pl days when my opponent took a defensive stance by using toxic spikes, protect, substitute, and etc. The only 2 Pokemon I recalled correctly was a walrein, and tentacruel. I just couldn't fight back since he annoyed the strategy out of me.

Romancing the Ladies - Pokemon Wifi Edition:

I had plans with my girlfriend tomorrow. I needed to confirm if she was going or not. She was not on Skype.

What did I do?

Started a triple battle with her brother, and named the first three pokemon I sent out: "Can you get", "[Name] on", and "Skype pls?c:".

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

I understand what you meant. Some trainers use defensive teams to emerge victorious. However, don't take that loss too seriously. Did you know that trainers learn to make their teams better when they lose?

Don't regret your past. Learn from it. Regrets just make a person weaker. Good luck and keep getting you and your Pokemon stronger!

After a trip to the Battle Maison, and searching for Serena, I decided to check out the cave in Pokemon Village. Somewhat expected Mewtwo to appear there (like a parallel to Cerulean cave), but not so immediately xD  It certainly added shock value :P

I've captured him with the dusk ball before, but want to get him as modest or timid natured, good IVs, etc. Do you all recommend using the master ball here? He's one of the few, if not the only, legendary I plan to raise.

It'd certainly speed up the process. Plus, the master ball suits him img-1369822-1-UNZJLhS.png ....yeah, just talked myself into it derpy_emoticon2.png

Gonna post it anyway vsTALhM.png

Go catch some Ralts or Abras, then breed them for the nature you want. Then breed the one with the nature you want to get a Ralts with the nature you want that has the Synchronize ability.

If the first Pokemon you send out has Synchronize, then the wild Pokemon you encounter has a high chance of matching the nature of the Pokemon. Good luck.

That's how I got my Mewtwo with the right nature.

I meant to ask if that still worked xD Thanks for the reminder and confirmation :)

I had a box of Umbreons(to-be) in Black 2 for that job, so will reform that team here img-1369822-1-UNZJLhS.png

Thanks again!
