Favorite Smash Bros Characters?

Danze

Recommended Posts

So I recently got into playing Super Smash Bros again, and I was wondering what y'all's favorite characters were.

It's been a while since I played the N64 smash bros, but I think Link was my favorite character in that game, just because I was a big Zelda fan mainly.

For Super Smash Bros Melee, Sheik is my favorite hands down. I love her speed and move set, she's quick and can apply a lot of pressure but has some hard hitting smash moves great for K.O.'s.

I haven't played Brawl as much, but I think my favorite brawl character would be Falco. I love his look and move set aesthetically, and he's fast and fun to play. I especially like the changes they made to his down B and how it acts like a short range projectile, it just looks quite awesome.

Honorary mention overall - I never played Mr. Game and Watch much, but I loved his look and wacky/comical move set, as well as his ridiculous and unpredictable RNG hammer attack. I would usually only play him if I wanted to troll though. happy.png

What about you guys?

All jokes aside, Toon Link has to be my all time favorite. Samus and Mario are really, REALLY, close to being my favorites, but Toon Link is just baws.

First two, Link hands down.

Brawl, Samus.

I don't know why, but I kinda like Brawl's Samus better than the other two's Samus for some reason ._.

There already is a Smash Bros thread about this kinda stuff, just letting you know in advanced.

I didn't pay the original very often, but when I did, I played as Captain Falcon, due to my love of F-Zero at the time. He was fast and powerful.

Melee was cool, and had an awesome fast pace engine, which will unfortunately not be in the next game. Ice climbers added a new kind of mechanic to the gameplay, because you were playing as two separate entities that made similar attacks. Mewtwo was all floaty ninja kind, and I like that.

Brawl, was the game that made me absolutely love the series. Like Calirolls above, I love toon link, because not only does he have the same sort of move set as him, but he is faster, cartoony, and has some better specials. Even though he does less damage, hes still cool. I also liked Sonic (YOU"RE TOO SLOW) due to his speed and homing spin dash. I used to own with that.

Now......For the new game......

When i saw the villager in the trailer I thought 'this is gonna be awesome!' but then I saw the megaman trailer. I was amazed. I'm not sure about the wii fit trainer, because little mac would have been more of a fighter (come on, he's a freaking boxer!). I can already tell that "Fell the burn" Is going to be the new "You're too sow"

Captain Falcon, because FALCON PAWNCH! And because he rapes in Melee

Snake, because I'm a biased MGS fan

In Brawl I like to play as Toon Link and Marth. I used to use Falco and Wolf but then I stopped using them for no reason why. Anyone else think that the idea of getting rod of characters is dumb? Why not just keep them?

If Villager counts at this point, him. He's just so awesome. UwU

But if he doesn't, Toon Link and Pikachu are my best characters. I whoop butt with them.

I Thunderbolt the heck out of people when using Pikachu.

And one word for Toon Link: arrows.

Donkey Kong, all the way.

People underestimate this ape because of his lack of speed, but I assure you, where he lacks in speed, he makes up for in power. I can get a kill at a mere 30% with Donkey Kong. He's pretty dang powerful! He's also one of my all-time favorite Nintendo characters, so I just like using hum.

I also like Luigi. Flaming uppercut is amazing, as well as weegee missile.

N64: Eh, they're all more or less the same to me

SSBM: Sheik, Marth (he's probably my favorite ssb character. so much style), Captain Falcon, Falco

SSBB: Lucario

Captain Falcon: Today, tommorow, and forever!

Even though I suck at Smash Bros, Captain Falcon's my favorite. A fast and powerful character is all I need.

Y'know, I've been on this site for almost ten years and I've never had a proper signature. Ain't that something?

N64: Fox

Melee: Ness, Young Link, Fox

Brawl: Sonic, Fox, Ness

Fox would be my favourite overall. Even though Fox wasn't very fast in N64, I believe I am more effective with speed than power.

I was also quite skilled with Ness. I started playing him when I fell in love with EarthBound, and now I am quite experienced with him.

I used to play Sonic a lot, since I was really excited that he was in Brawl, and of course, I basically became ruthless with him!

I liked Young Link because, like I said, I prefer speed over power. I don't care if people are worried about clones, I still want Young Link back, even if he replaces Toon Link!

Since the first game I've always loved Yoshi and have beaten people in tournaments with him throughout Brawl.

However when I unlocked Ness in the first game, he quickly tied for favorite.

Then I started play LoZ games and Link had a special place in my heart as well.

So in order of the 3, it'd be.

1. Ness

2. Link

3. Yoshi

I just wish I could play the Earth Mother games...

Well there is Toon Link, right? You can use him, instead?

But I agree with you, I prefer the speedy characters over powerhouses.

Toon Link was actually my 4th in Brawl. I enjoyed playing him as well, but I just like the Ocarina of Time Young Link more than the Wind Waker Toon Link.

I would still use Toon Link if he returned, though. I would just prefer Young Link.

I can't really say for n64 and melee just because I never got into them. However I got really into brawl and my fav char in Brawl was Lucas, which surprised me because I never heard of him before. I was intending to like link Link the most however he turned out to be one of my least fav chars to play :P

Try an emulator that's how I got to play them. For Mother 3 you need an English patcher as well but if you look on YouTube there would probably be a link to it :)

I have multiple characters that I cycle through during matches, but the one I enjoy using the most is Game & Watch. He's a character to flummox his opposition; you can master direction on his disjointed hitboxes and pull off moves that your opponent will never see coming; his forward aerial will either send characters flying, or if you do it from above it works as a meteor; a powerful one at that.

He comes up short on the projectile side of things, but his smashes and pretty solid move pool more than make up for it. G&W's down tilt is one of the most effective edgeguards in the game, and his down smash affects either side of him at once, instead of one side after another like Toon Link or Captain Falcon. His Oil Panic is also wonderful; fill it up, and you can use it as a ridiculously useful momentum cancel; it can save you from smashes at as high as 200%. His Up+B is also one of the better vertical recoveries in the game, and to top it all off he can spike with his down aerial.

Plus, outside of competitive play, he's equally as entertaining. I love using Judgement; it's like a mini-lottery, hoping for a 9 each time and playfully raging when you draw a 1. And the concepts of his moveset are also comedic; I've not seen a character use an octopus as a weapon (backwards aerial) or use a bicycle pump (rapid attack). It's pretty funny.

Yeah, Game & Watch is definitely my favourite. I take to his style of combat very aptly. When I'm on form with the guy, my opponents be running! I'll be using him for the Smash Bros. tournament up at BUCK this August.

In the N64 era, I loved playing as Kirby~ I still hadn't much knowledge of any of the characters in the game, but Kirby was just so... adorable... and he eats people and digests them in order to absorb their powers, WHAT'S COOLER THAN THAT ?!

As for Melee, that was, in fact, my least played game in the series... But I continued playing as Kirby, and also fell in love with Falco, Mewtwo, and Roy~

In Brawl, I have no idea why, but that R.O.B. character had something that made me love playing with him... I vaguely remembered him in the NES, but still I kicked flanks so hard with him~ ...Besides him, I also loved Lucario.

Now, in the fourth game that is coming out... Probably Megaman is my favorite newcomer until now. I have a bunch of other characters that I wanted to see, but for now, I'll stick with Megaman. :3

In Melee, I liked Link, Ness, Samus, and Zelda the most. Brawl I'm more partial to ROB, Link, Samus, Ness, and Lucas, so really, it's not that much different. *laughs*

ROB can totally pwn newbs if you just spam his upwards punch a bunch.
