I don't like the socks. They're tacky and unnecessary and stripes are the worst pattern I can possibly think of. Also, this may be a coincidence, but a lot of the sock pony pictures have a context that isn't quite to my liking.

 

While I'm on a hate-spree, damn every image that has fur tufts on ponies to hell. This and the socks are my two biggest peeves when it comes to pony art.

I personally don't tend to relate socks to sexual themes, so I don't see the "sexiness" aspect, however they do look cute, and the socks can also add alot of colour matching and contrast to construct the overall picture. Plus, you can practice folds with them :3. I don't see why anyone would hate them, because most of us (I assume) wear socks rather often.

I dont really get why its so prominent in the fandom, but i "get it" in that i realize some people find it sexy. I'm pretty neutral on it I guess, but sometimes I get to thinking and realize that there are a significant number of people that find horses in socks to be sexually attractive, and that's a little bit weird, but I just never really notice how weird it is from being in this fandom

I find it amusing that people have latched onto this seemingly totally random thing. It's like the juicebox meme.

I actually like them when they're done right, they can look really adorable sometimes.

 

However, something about them sometimes makes things look a little bit to sexual for my liking.

 

Maybe its because it makes them look more naked by only having 1 piece of clothing as opposed to just having nothing on and it being totally normal looking. Idk its a weird way of thinking, but somehow it makes sense to me, not sure if my explanation of it makes sense though.

I own real horses and they actually do have socks, which are white markings on the legs. Wierdly My Little Ponies don't have socks, stockings, stars or blazes on them.

 

Real horses also wear things like splint boots around their legs. So ponies in socks? Kinda cute. Nothing against the concept. Heck My Little Ponies wear dresses and arm bands and all kinds of clothes for fashion purposes so why not socks?
