RD's Parents

Well, I was thinking that everyone has heard of RD's Parents before. And do yo know why I think that? You'll find out.

 

When I saw someone's avatar on the Friendship is Magic Forums, it was RD as a filly and Firefly. I started to think. I was thinking, the creators could of made Firefly RD's Mother. I think it could be true. Opinion?

They could have, and it would be fitting, considering Twilight's mother being based on G1 Twilight. She's already her mother in the headcanons of many people.

Rainbow Dash was originally going to be Firefly in the show. However, Faust could not use that name due to copyright issues. So if they couldn't use Firefly then, they wouldn't be able to now. Maybe they could use the design and use a different name though.

 

I always assumed that the blue female pegasus next to Rainbow Dash in this image could be her mother:

 

 

Now I know, she doesn't look anything like Rainbow Dash and whatnot (neither does Firefly) but this mare does have Rainbow's rose colored eyes if nothing else. It just means Rainbow Dash took more after her father, which I guess isn't surprising seeing how she's very tomboyish. I could be way off track, but it's just my theory. Firefly's design has been popularized as being Dash's mother in the fandom, so who knows? I wish the writers and storyboard artists had given us a clear look at her mother.

I always assumed, for whatever reason, that Rainbow Dash was the only child of a single father (maybe the mother died, left, I dunno). Would explain why she doesn't seem to know how to interact with Scootaloo effectively (no siblings growing up) and, like @@Sugar Cube said, why she's so tomboyish (obviously took after her father).

Well her father has been confirmed and shown in an episode already basically.

 

Her mother hasn't been totally confirmed, but its been speculated that the mare next to her is her mother. Even if they don't resemble as much.

 

Then again she could just not have inherited much of her mothers looks.

 

For now I think the mare is the closest thing we have to her mother, her father is certainly confirmed though basically.

 

Now where they are now, who knows, i assume they just live in cloudsdale and just don't visit often.(Even Rarity's parents don't visit a whole lot it seems.)

There was one scene in which Rainbow Dash was shown with some ponies which could have been her parents (Below), but her mother isn't really definitely the pony shown, so you could be right about the mother!

We could assume that fyre-flye was rd's mother. But Lauren faust wanted to use fyre-fly as rainbow dash but ran into some copy right problems. So she put fyre flies brain in rainbow dashs body. So in a way. I guess she is rd's mother.
