How to buy pony toys without looking weird.

First off, I've never bought anything MLP related, mostly because I'm an evil socialist, marxist, communist, social democrat etc. and Hasbro is on my "Evil Corporations List". I haven't even watched the show on the hub.

For those of you that do buy pony toys however here are some tips.

First, before you enter a pony aisle, pick up a Transformers or GI JOE toy with you. That way, onlookers and the cashier will think you're buying toys for children in general.

Second, if you are going to head straight to pony toys, pick up the toys in a vast quantity to make it look like you're buying toys for a charity or your sisters or daughters etc.

Third, pretend you're ignorant about the franchise. Go to a store clerk and ask them for toys that little girls like because you're buying presents or something. The store clerk will take you to the girl's aisle and start showing you around. Say the pony stuff looks good because girls like ponies and the manager will agree with you.

Fourth, if all else fails, ask the cashier to gift wrap the pony toy so it will look like you're getting toys for a birthday party.

BTW, no offense to bronies that buy toys, but a lot of the dolls look ugly and not at all show accurate. I don't understand why you'd buy them anyway. Plushie's are cool though.

Or you could be a proud brony and go and buy them without caring what other's think. So what if you get weird looks? You're buying toys, it shouldn't matter what complete strangers will think of you; you may never see them again, anyway.

I embrace looking weird, so I really don't mind the attention I might get by buying poneh toys ^_^

I also just couldn't care less what people think of me. I think that certainly helps in these situations.

Here is my strategy: Grab whatever I want, lately being the brush able figures, take them to the cashier, pay for them, and leave.

This is my strategy and I am usually very self conscious. I have lately become incredibly apathetic towards what others think when it comes to this stuff. I strongly advise others to do the same, despite how difficult it may seem. If you want to buy these things, do so. Having to use these strategies, while they could work, is quite sad to me. I blame society there though.

Also, I disagree about EVIL Hasbro. They are a toy company, they make and sell toys. They are a corporation, they want money, like all corporations.

I don't think it really matters. Most people think you're buying one for your sister/daughter or whoever. Even if I did not know such a fandom existed, I would still think a man buying My Little Pony toys was probably buying it for someone. I've seen many people suggest wearing the full hood, glasses and stuff but that only seems to make people notice you more.

a very simple answer. you have to walk in head held high, and be proud when people ask what are you doing. if someone makes fun of you ignore them and in the words of pinkie pie "smile smile smile"

if you can't do that order it off the internet

I find pony models and toys quite freaky looking as well but the plushies are acceptable to me. I really find your advice really humorous to me and I'm sure if I'm willing to buy MLP:FIM merchandise in the future, I'll definitely take it.

Same here. I don't have many of the toys, cuz I can't really afford to buy many, but I do have the Mane Six. I just walked into the toy shop and bought them, one at a time. Then again, it's probably easier for me being a thirty four year old woman, cuz people probably just assume that I have kids and I'm buying the ponies for them. Wrongo! :P

I don't have any toys of my own :(

I ventured through the pink isle at Walmart to get a Dashie plush for my little brother, (because I'm such a nice sibling) but I've never bought anything for myself as of yet... And I REALLY want a Fwuttershai plushie, and I WANT IT NOW! *Insert Apple Bloom wanting it now here*

Anyone care to donate a few dozen dollars to the Keiichi Wants A Fwuttershai Plushie charity? ^_^

As i explained gotta get strategic, blend in with your surrondings and when the time comes take the shot, grab your pony abd cash out

1. Take three hours sneaking into the store.

2. Take another three hours carefully making your way to the girls section

3. Slowly make your way to the pony toys. This step takes an hour.

4. Grab the toy carefully and slowly. You don't want to attract unnecessary attention.

5. Make your way to the cashier, but don't give away your position.

6. Place toy on counter along with money. The cashier will scan it and take the cash, but won't know you are there.

7. At this point, sneak out of the store and head on home.

8. Mission accomplished.

What do you mean, 'without looking weird'? You should be proud to be a brony! If you think buying ponies is 'weird' you're wrong! You shouldn't mind what other people think of you and what you're buying. Seriously, just walk up to the toy, take it and pay for it. Who cares what those strangers think of you? You'll most likely never see them again anyway.

Easy, just don't wear the clown nose and the fright wig this time.

Seriously though, I just buy them with other stuff and use the do-it-yourself checkouts. Nobody really looks at what you're buying.

Meh, I don't care how I look. I think its funny that a scary giant like me buys MLP merchandise.
A few times, the cashier has started a conversation with me about about MLP and Bronies in general. This nice old lady cashier that works in my local supermarket actually told me to be proud and not care what anyone thinks :3

I never said the opinions of strangers matter, I'm just saying this is how you should do it if you don't people to think you're weird in general. You should be proud of being a brony and all, I just made this for the lulz because I heard many bronies who are caught buying pony toys are often a target for harassment later on.

BTW get this, I was at the market today, and I heard a couple telling their daughter not to go to the pony section because of "strangers".

Who cares?I mean, who really cares? It's your purchase, and you're money and you should buy what ever you want without the fear of looking weird. You'll never see these people again, and if you do so what? You bought ponies, and what's the worst they can do? Make fun of you for buying the coolest toys known to man?

I like wearing my Brony shirts when I'm buying toys, the cashier once said "cute shirt" when I was buying a Brushable.

Enjoy the experience. If people give you weird looks, than thats cool. When I was at 'Big apple Ponycon', I spent some time in the area outside the convention, and sometimes regular people curiously looked on at all the ponypeople at the hotel. I overheard one little kid ask her parents "Is that a costume party?" and I just got a big grin on my face.

This is me:

I'd strut into the store, head straight to the pony section, grab all of them, and demand to give the store my money, and hold all of them until I get home. (( COUGH COUGH I'll put them in the passenger seat when driving if you were thinking of me driving home, with a car crash. )) It wouldn't look weird since all my friends already know I'm a pegasister anyway.

My old strategy:

>Be proud.

>Walk into aisle.

>Grab what I came here for.

>Check out and leave.

Or, as I've taken to doing, just alleviate all the gender stereotyping and buy all my pony stuff at Hot Topic.

Well, the cashier probably thinks you're buying it as a gift. More adults than children actually pay for things in a toy store anyway.

I guess not wearing pony clothing is a good idea.

I used to care about this a lot, but now I don't give a buck anymore. And I can't avoid looking weird when I'm sorting through blind bag numbers for five minutes. Some stores have the blind bags on the cashier counter though, and in that case I just leave the store.

Those are all very great strategies. The last time that I bought a pony from Target I just picked it up as soon as I can and went to the cashier. I am short and I look younger than my age but it doesn't matter the store is only concerned about getting my money. However recently I just buy ponies from EBAY because I see these releases that are not out yet and they look so adorable that they would look good on my book shelf

I haven't really bought any pony merch in a store not because I am self conscieous but because there isn't anywhere near me that I am aware that has any good pony merch so I order stuff online. But if I were to buy anything pony related in a store I would just do the same thing I do when I buy anything else, take what I want pay and leave. All of these efforts to go out of your way to make yourself look less creepy are actually going to do the exact opposite so there is really no point. If some troll wants to hate on me then well the joke is on him since I don't even give a damn.

Step 1: Walk into toy asile

Step 2: Stand around as long as you need to decide what you want(or if they even have what you desire in stock)

Step 3: Grab the desired item

Step 4: Proceed to check-out and make your purchase(if not using a self-check-out, feel free to make small talk with the cashier during this step, I've had interesting conversations on many things this way, especially when I happen to be buying a video game that like at the same time)

Step 5: Go home and enjoy.

I dont really care when someone sees me with these sort of things but if i were to hide it i would probably pretend im on my phone talking to my mom, friend, sister or someone and be like "are these the toys you wanted?" *Saying it a little loud so the clerk or people around you hear* and i would carry on the conversation saying "Ok so i got the (Name of toy) for (name of person) do you think they're going to like it?." and yeah stuff like that

but I dont really know i usually just grab my things, pay and go
