Favorite Woodwind Instrument?

My personal favorite would be the Clarinet, since I used to play it in 6th-8th grade; it was quite a lot of fun.

Probably the Clarinet.

 

I've always liked that instrument. I wouldn't say it's my favorite instrument, but it's probably my favorite woodwind instrument.

I guess... the flute? The sideways one, at least. It's just so cool. Very easy to play and has a very soothing sound. Also, it was the first instrument I learned to play (although it was the one which stays in front of you ;P )

I would have to say the Sax. It's so smooth sounding and I like the way it looks. I played Clarinet in school, but I always wanted the Saxophone.

The bagpipes are one of the best instruments out there. I absolutely love the bagpipes, they have such a great sound, if played by a well-practiced musician.

If I had to have a second instrument... it would definitely be a saxophone.

Maybe flute, ocarina? OMG there's too many great instruments, you can't just pick one.

I don't play any intruments, but I love the smooth sounds of saxophone. You could put a saxaphone in any song, and I'd listen to it. It's one of my favorite intruments.

Anyways, if I had to pick one, it would probably be tenor sax. In band, that section hangs out with us, and I really like the tenor sound. Plus, saxes are cool.

 

Not as cool as trombones, however.

 

And it's definetly not clarinet. All trombones despise the instrument that is a clarinet....if it's even an instrument....0.o

I love the Saxophone ! I love the color gold plus the sound the instrument makes is awesome. I think I'd definitely pick it as one of my top 5 favorite instruments.

The saxophone. Specifically, the alto saxophone. And yes, that's because I love to play it and listen to it. Second favorite would be the soprano sax -- one of these days, I'm going to pick up that instrument; I swear.

I say clarinet, because I played it. but now I got 100 xp( :-P ) so I'm now a Base Clarinet, its like if a saxophone and a clarinet had a baby, and it turned out sexyr than both parents combined..... B-)

The Clarinet is interestingly enough one of the hardest instruments to play. Personally, since I'm new to the Sax, I find the Sax harder, but anyways...

 

I'm a avid woodwind enthusiast, and I play the typical Bb Clarinet and Alto Saxophone. Those two instruments are without a doubt the prettiest sounding ones I've come to know. And my favorite.

My answer's already given, all you have to do is look at my signature. =P Those three are my favorites. Bassoon, Tenor Saxophone, and Oboe. Although I'd probably put the English horn over the oboe.

 

The bassoon is my main instrument, I'm not quite as obsessed with it as I was back in the day, but I still love it and will stick with it.

 

The saxophone, I love it to pieces, but I'm VERY picky with how it is used. I love it played naturally. I can't stand the way most classic rock artists play it. Which may come off as shocking, but it's to the point where it just frustrates me. I find it funny that a band like Streetlight Manifesto which is more influenced by punk and being well, loud, knows how to handle the saxophone and saxophone solos perfectly.

That's saxophone. It's beautiful! I really can't stand the growly "lets go as high as we can" saxophone solo style of most (but not all) classic rock songs. =/

 

Anyway, the oboe... I realize nobody voted it before me. =( It's a very beautiful instrument that I pretty much like all around in music. But the English horn/Cor Anglais, when one hears it they may not recognize it being a different instrument than the oboe. Personally I think that has a much prettier sound than the oboe (which is already very beautiful). For those who haven't heard one, it plays the main theme in this FMA:Brotherhood piece after the string intro.

As a clarinet player, i'm of course quite biased for my instrument. I also love the oboe, but only if the player is exceptionally good. You can't half-ass the oboe (well, the same could be said about any instrument) but especially the oboe because it will always be heard and when an oboe sounds bad, it sounds BADDDD. But it can also be the instrument of the gods when played well.

Saxophones are also extremely awesome instruments. It seems like the saxophones is one of the best woodwinds for conveying style and emotion with the way they can just let loose the stylistic growls and pitch bends. I think the word Loose is the best way to describe a saxophone's sound. Loose and natural. Clarinets can do it too but its a lot more difficult for us.
