carlthehorse 6 March 3, 2014 Share March 3, 2014 (edited) I've had a couple, mostly from driving through rough neighborhoods though haha.Went without eating for 4 days on a 70 mile hike and got dehydrated while at Philmont Scout Ranch. (due to altitude sickness) Countless people nearly hitting me while walking to lunch Have yet to actually get hit or have any serious damage done yet (not even any broken bones) Edited March 3, 2014 by weshalodude
Armin 168 March 3, 2014 Share March 3, 2014 (edited) Well, I was at one of those massive swimming pools, the one's with slides and stuff, y'know? Anyway, so I was at one of them with two of my friends who I shalt dub A and B. We were on one of those slides with inflatable rings, and we go sliding down. There is three mini pools on this slide as you slide down, so we reach the second one and there is a group of older teenage bows. I fell off my rings as I went down, and as I got up I was pushed down by one of the boys. My face was in the bit with water coming down in a really strong flow, so water was constantly in my face, and two of the boys held me down. A was also being held back, but she got them off. B couldn't get the boys off me, so she climbed back up the slide and kicked me out from under the boys. I was really winded and had to go to the health-bit. Got a refund for some reason (I was at the pool for about 3 hours, so it was awesome). Bought chips with refund. I pulled B back from almost getting hit by a car once, and stopped A from choking, so A owes me. It's a triangle of rescue-osity and friendship. NeedsMoreGoth 164 March 9, 2014 Share March 9, 2014 (edited) I had something to say after I came here but reading all of the replies made me change my mind. Nothing I've been through can rival with what some of you guys went through. It really makes you appreciate life, doesn't it? And thinking about how many people were on the wrong side of almost, who could almost be here to say their experiences -.-"Anyway every life in this world is treasure. No people should die without fulfilling their goal. It's good news to see all of you alive today.I could be killed by cars or such. I never was hit but it came close some times. I would start to panic underwater sometimes (but wouldn't call it drowning just yet). Once when I was somewhere between the age of 2-5 I almost fell down from the side of the stairs but I managed to hold on until my mom pulled me up. It wasn't that high of a drop but if I had landed on my head I could have broken my neck. Edited March 9, 2014 by Lux Calibur

Celli 4,337 March 10, 2014 Share March 10, 2014 (edited) I have come close to dying a few times. This one time, I was almost hit by a car when in a parking lot. The person was speeding and didn't step on the brakes. This other time I almost drowned in my own pool. I was underwater and got stuck there because my brother held me under. Looking back on those times, I wish I was hit by that car or drowned. Would have been better that way. Why on Earth would you wish something like that? Wolfstanus 116 March 10, 2014 Share March 10, 2014 (edited) 10 or less feet from being stabbed to death. If I didn't have my pistol on me I probably would be dead. I also drove past a shooting in progress. I could see the shooter. 1 mile wide path of destruction in my home town. Took us a month to find my grandma. Magic Twinkle 204 March 11, 2014 Share March 11, 2014 When I was just an infant, I was told by my parents these days I had a critical condition after my birth. If the doctors wouldn't have helped me that time, I wouldn't be living today. I have asthma, so I believe it was hard to breathe that time so I could've died.Glad to live today. My asthma isn't that bad either, I never get attacks and never take medicine unless I'm going for a physical excercise or something. Cooper testing is more than possible, but the results aren't that great obviously.

Something Floaty 1,334 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 So tonight I was walking from the store down the street back to my house. I was having a cigarette, strolling calmly, not really in any hurry, when I happened to glance up from making sure I didn't step in the mud puddles. About four or five sidewalk squares in front of me was a skunk, standing so still it might have been taxidermied, staring at me in what I can only assume was the cutest possible state of terror ever. We just sort of stared at each other for a while. I know they say that making noise or advancing on them should scare them away, and they only spray when they feel cornered, but as I am violently allergic to tomatoes (the best remedy for skunk spray), it wasn't a chance I could take. So I waited for the skunk to move away and allow me to pass. However, it didn't seem interested in going into the yard of the house it was in front of, or into the busy street, and it also apparently wasn't inclined to turn it's back on me and attempt to move further away. I was a little offended, to be honest. I'm not shifty-looking at all, I've been told I have a really honest face, usually by people I have just lied to. Anyways, the minutes dragged on as I sat there, engaged in the most intense staring contest I have experienced since I tried hitting on the dental assistant during my wisdom tooth removal surgery. (It's amazing how long you can maintain eye contact without blinking while under the influence of heavy medication. She didn't go out with me, apparently silent eye contact while drooling and bleeding is sort of a turn-off. Who knew?). After about three or four minutes, I finished the cigarette I was smoking. I don't usually chain-smoke, but the situation seemed to call for it, so I lit another one. I wished I had had a cigar, it struck me as more appropriate. We were like two duelists, waiting for the moment when the other chose to strike, our breathing becoming more measured even as our hearts raced faster and faster and the adrenaline built up. I considered informing the skunk that the town was no longer of sufficient size to accomidate both of us. Despite being early spring in New England, I expected a tumbleweed to drift between us at any moment. Just as the tension was building to a breaking point, just as I sensed the moment was near for one or both of us to strike (the skunk with his potent chemical weapon, me with frantic, girlish screams while running in the opposite direction), inspiration struck me. I crouched down, in an almost-squatting position. Not quite squatting all the way, but making myself smaller so I could begin to inch a little further back. There was a wall behind me, only a few steps, ringing the edge of the yard and driveway of the house I was standing in front of. Once I was within jumping distance of that wall, I took one last drag of my cigarette and prepared myself. I took a deep breath, tensed up my leg muscles, pinched the filter of my still-smoking cigarette butt between my thumb and the fingernail of my index finger, and flicked it at the skunk like the world's most carcinogenic bullet. At the same moment, I leaned backwards, grabbed the edge of the cinder-block wall, and dragged myself behind it to put it, and the towering bushes atop it, between me and the possible stream of disgusting skunk defense fluid. As it turns out, the acrobatics and tactical planning were unnecessary, as the skunk did not spray before fleeing from the combination of the cigarette butt flying towards him and my sudden explosion of movement. My last glimpse of him was the fuzzy black-and-white tail disappearing across someone's front yard, through their decorative garden. I sighed in relief, picked up my cigarette butt (because littering is bad), and continued with the rest of my uneventful walk. I may not have come close to death in the traditional sense, my friends, but had I been sprayed, my obsession with being clean would have obligated me to bathe in tomato juice despite the fact that it would certainly condemn me to a burning, itchy death. I would certainly have died, albeit by my own choice (a skunkeppu, you could call it), but by god I would have died smelling like soup and not like New Jersey. This was my latest and by far my most terrifying brush with death. I tell you this story in hopes that you too will know what to do when approached by a skunk on the sidewalk in the dead of night. Remember my tale. I have seen death, comrades, and it is...adorable, actually. Seriously, that thing was so friggin cute. 1 Signature created by Champion RD92

Nine 707 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 I was driving my bike to work once in the rain, and the car ahead of me put on his brakes suddenly. I pulled in the front brake just on instinct (I was still pretty new) and the back end shot out and I wiped. I was just stunned (my jacket/helmet/gloves got all the road rash, not me) but I was lucky not to get run over. I wouldn't count this as a near death experience really; just a time I had a much higher than average chance of being seriously hurt. I've been much closer than that, but I'm not too keen to talk about it.

IridscentNionios 1,420 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 I have come pretty close to committing suicide when i was younger. I have hit my head several times when i was yonger, and also have had a concussion but those don't count so much... The only reason i didn't kill myself... i had grabbed the knife in my hand... was because i told myself that no asshole was worth killing yourself over and ruining your mood. Nobody cared... and frankly i don't see anyone caring right now but that's another subject... and i learned not to care so much about others. In the end this cost me... it cost me believing and having hope... i only regain it at times only to lose it later... i have stopped crying... but i feel like i've lost my heart and hardened myself over the years. I look at myself and don't know... i still think it's wrong sometimes but living without hope... is painful. OCs Thorough list of all of them here. Sunset Haste 19 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 It amazes me how strong the human body is, I can't really say that I've had a near dead experience. Only, 'I could've been dead' experiences. I was a carefull kid, I never broke any thing a did stupid stunts. But I had Sepsis once, a pontentially whole-body fatal disease. The doctor discovered soon enough when my mother brought me to after I felt blood clotting under my arm pits, I also had rashes on my lower belly and arms and I felt ill. I had to go on a heavy anti-biotics/ medicine treatment and I've had high fever for about a week and a half. It never returned. The cause? I had a bad rash from some of my millions of allergies around a wart. I bumped the wart open and the rash infected my blood directly. Funny thing is I never worried. My mother did, I had no clue what was going on. I wasn't close to death, but I could've been if I just kept walking around with a rash. Another time I had a scooter (the moped thing) accident, it was very rainy and I was leaning in a corner, before I was aware my wheel slipped under me and I skidded onto the road (I was on a cycle path) if there was a car driving I could've been dead. My clothes where drenched with blood, dirt and rain and my jacket and pants had been torn leaving me with deep abrasions, which I now remember as my pizza delivery scars XD. I've been almost hit by traffic a few times, been panicking under water. And probably some other things, but as I said before, the human body can handle a lot. Icedog68 71 March 25, 2014 Share March 25, 2014 When I was a little kid (idk how old) I was swimming, and then all of the sudden, a kid started freaking out, thinking he was gonna drown. He grabbed onto me and was frantically pushing me down, to stay above water (I don't think he would've drowned, it was more of a panic thing), ANYWAYS lets just say I mighta died if I wasn't stronger than him. Toxic Hoof 92 March 26, 2014 Share March 26, 2014 I had a near death type thing but it was before I was born. I had a twin sister and she was a miscarriage, so it was me and my twin sister, who was no longer alive, in my mothers stomach and as people probably know there are 'sacks' that a baby is in when they are in the mothers stomach (yes I know they are not IN the stomach it is just easier saying that) well the one between me and my sister was sort of punctured or deteriorating which could have killed me if it had opened up so yea I'm pretty lucky to be sitting I this chair typing this very paragraph today and even though it wasn't as serious as a car accident it was still me possibly dying so yea it was a 'near death experience'.
