Our fandom is definitely divided in terms of opinions, but not to the point of utter collapse like some of the doom-and-gloom fans claim it is.

There's bound to be disagreements and arguing over everything, whether it be fanfics, episodes, or other trivial matters, no matter what fandom you're in. It's perfectly normal for fans to argue about these things. Even though everyone was disagreeing over EqG and AlTwi back in February, our fandom still held together. I seriously doubt that this fandom will collapse anytime soon, because if we've made it through the Derpy, Alicorn Twilight and EqG dramas and didn't split off, I'm sure we can make it through more (And I'm pretty sure there's going to be some major brony drama in 2014).

I honestly think that our fandom being divided is nothing to worry about because it's only human nature to disagree and argue over things we're passionate about.

An issue is that people who hold opinions on some disagreements that may cause the other side to not look good.

Take Twilicorn, for instance. If you are Pro-Twilicorn than you believe that this change was good and generally that 'MMC' was a good episode. Now to these guys, anti-Twilicorns seem overly critical and scared of change and are just being silly.

Of coarse, on the other hand, the anti-Twilicorns are concerned about the direction the story has taken, so to them, the pro-twilicorns can come off as short sighted folk who care more about "feels" then they care about the quality of the show.

The worst examples of each side would be the Anti-Twilicorn people concerned with "Twilight will leave her friends now that shes a Princess!"(as if that has in any way any chance of happening in this show). And on the other side are some people who are far more concerned with whether or not Derpy got removed from the show, rather than actual show itself.(As if Derpy being in 'MMC' makes up for any issues the episode may have).

Fandom divided? I don't think so. Their is always going to be another opinion, opinion is all about perceptive, and its great so many fans have different perspectives on EQG and Twilicorn, but that doesn't mean the fandom is suddenly falling apart. We just had a half season, people are edgy, and i feel like the more people nit pick, and say the fandom is falling apart, the more people start to believe it. I think people need to get over this hick-up. If the fandom was falling, why did we just have a very successful bronycon? It was recently released November 23 season 4 of MLP is premiering. The fandom is bigger then it was before, i just feel like peoples opinion has been manipulated by saying its falling apart, and the more people say it, the more they start to believe it, when in all reality, its only getting bigger and more diverse. Another thing, the more people, the more opinions, so be ready for that. don't let people convince you that fandom is falling apart, if they do, they win. You say black people say white, you say stop they say go, this is just how people are, it doesn't matter if its MLP or politics. Their are allot of people that believe the fandom is doing good right now, maybe not the best, but allot of people are happy with the direction of the show and the fandom. Its a minority affecting the majority. sometimes its hard to say you like the fandom because their is always someone who is going to say they don't. Its the forums to guys, not everyone is going to say the same thing, i just think people got to suck it up, if you don't like hearing how people hate EQG or twilicorn, don't go on topics about how much people hate it. I truly like the fans, and the fanbase of MLP, never in my life would i guess their would be such and accepting, open minded fan base that is so involved. I just want to say thanks to all MLP fans for truly making this an experience for me, and for anyone else who appreciates the show as much as i do.

So gangsta, on 09 Aug 2013 - 5:30 PM, said:Considering I dropped the "brony" label not too long ago, I see the Fandom as divided, as Abraham Lincoln has said "A house divided cannot stand on it's own", I think it can apply to this fandom.
On one side, you have the ones that absolutely hate Equestria Girls, Twilicorn, and complain about everything, while on another, you have the ones that worship Lauren Faust and Tara Strong, and love Equestria Girls and Twilicorn.
So it is true, that the Fandom is now a house divided.

Lincoln quoted Jesus when he said that.

Omigosh people have different opinions on something!? THE FANDOM IS DYING EVERYPONY RUN!!! AAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Wait... No.

Look OP, I'm going to put this in the nicest way I can: Grow up. Nobody is gonna sit around and talk about how epic win and 20% cooler ponies are any more. There was no, "good ol' days" only, "days in which I was so arrogant I couldn't see anything but good."

If a fandom fell or died whenever people began disagreeing on something, there would be no fandoms.

I can't believe you didn't see this coming. Every fandom goes through this kind of thing, it was only a matter of time before it happened to us. But that doesn't mean it any worse. In fact, a lot of good can come from it. Friendships can be forged from arguments, on either side. People can have intelligent conversations. Et-fucking-cetera.

Also, utopia!? What the hell are you talking about!?

I'm also really fucking tired of people complaining about the Documentary. People put a shit-load of work into it, only to be bombarded with, "GRAAAITSTOOBIASED""ONLY SHOWS THE GOOD!1!1!1"

The point of it was to showcase the good of the community, not to be a daring exposé on Pony Torture Porn Blogs.

tl;dr get out of your fantasy world

AND YES, I AM QUITE ANGRY.

I love and tolerate all. but just because some one is a brony or pegasister does not make them a nice person ive met dick bronies before but one should not be mean for the sake of being mean. there is a word for that we all know it as "asshole" and yes some of our own are some. But that's with every fandom..

The way you managed to write your first statement did make me a little down. Good writing!

Anyways, even though there might be different sorts of bronies out there, even if you define it by whether one likes Twilicorn or not, the definition of a brony still stands: one who watches My Little Pony who is out of the ordinary audience. We will all still count down for the next season/episode; we will all still sing a long (some of us lol) to another one of Pinkie Pie's catchy songs; we will all still cl....I mean, still joke about why Rarity's element is somehow generosity. Whether or not this is true, it's not like we have a label to identify ourselves as a Capulet or Montague to divide ourselves from one another when we meet, so no worries from me ;)

Opinions and criticisms seem to grow stronger every new thing Hasbro releases.

Some do state this, but I remain a loyal fan no matter what the cause.

I did like Season 3 despite being short and a bit flawed, I like twilicorn, despite all the negativity, and I do plan to like and enjoy equestria girls despite all the backlash....

Well fandoms are all kind of divided, cant find one that's not divided. It's sad yes but noting can be really done about it. Some ponies say you need to know this and this to be a true brony or you need to spend this much money on MLP or if you are a clopper then you are not a true fan and blah blah blah.

As for me, as long as you love the show you are a fan, and as for the divided part? ah I'm in my own group its called the "I love the show, and everything about it and I don't hate anyone for any reason"...

The fandom may have a buckton of problems, but I'm glad still to be a part of it. It makes me feel like I'm a part of something. Being kind of an outcast at school is rather boring in my opinion. Listening to other's talk about Celestia knows what is only interesting for so long. Its fun to output your opinion on things, and discuss things you yourself are interested in. This forum is perfect for that! I've been looking for a good forum for so long, so I'm honestly really glad I stumbled across this one. The community here is great for the most part. The biggest issue here seems to be love and tolerance. I think we could use just a wee bit more. Besides that it's great! All the bronies I've met in real life are great, and they're usually really nice, creative people. Maybe I've just had better luck with the fandom than others, but my experience as a brony has been mostly positive so far.

The Bronies in my town aren't divided at all, we stand strong together. Sure we may have petty arguments about stuff, but it's never hostile. At the end of the day we're all just a bunch of people who love the show. We shouldn't be divided over it. We should enjoy it while it lasts, because as sad as it is, all wonderful things must come to an end eventually, so there is no point in wasting it with all the negative aspects the OP pointed out. The youtube example was a great one, as it's a problem I noticed almost immediately after getting into the fandom.

Considering I dropped the "brony" label not too long ago, I see the Fandom as divided, as Abraham Lincoln has said "A house divided cannot stand on it's own", I think it can apply to this fandom.

So it is true, that the Fandom is now a house divided.

Hold Up, I hate Equestria Girls, and love Twilicorn. Don't lump me in with the people that whine about everything. And yes, I know what an example is, but I maintain the right to correct you.

Oh and silly boy, "dropping the label" doesn't change a thing.

@Gamer Twilight

Yes, and I'm happy about that. I hate Hiveminds and I'm happy that the entire brony community isn't completely agreeing on everything, we're not a damn cult. That being said, I almost never like the opposite side of whatever I like or don't like.
