Ponies meet "The Sims"

I've just found this ZOMGmazing video on YouTube:

Someone has made a ponified version of this great classic game "The Sims"! :o

Unfortunately, this video is not an actual game :-/ They just put those animations there, mixed with the images captured from "The Sims", to make it look like an actual game. How sad, I was so happy to see it and I just wanted to play it right away! ;-) It would be my two favorite things mixed together in one place: "The Sims" and ponies.

BUT!

I couldn't get rid of this idea off of my mind, it returned to me over and over, and then I realized that making such a ponified version of "The Sims" is actually possible! :-D

Once in the past I used my hacking skills to figure out where "The Sims" keeps the skin textures in its game data directory and analyzed these files with my hex editor, and then I figured out that those textures are being kept in some .iff files, as just plain BMP bitmaps. So I could swap them with my custom bitmaps to make them appear in the game. I could make tattoos, different clothing mods, and even a R34 mod by swapping the swim suit textures into some naked bodies ;-J

But time went on, and several software tools appeared for modding "The Sims". There are programs like Transmogrifier, which allow to export data from .iff files or swap them with some other textures, for example.

For the pony mod I'm talking about, something more would be needed though: it requires swapping the 3D meshes, bone systems and animation tracks with pony versions. This is a bit harder, but still not impossible! I've found a website which documents all "The Sims"'s game data file formats and structures. Any skilled hacker/programmer can possibly make use of this info; especially that there's a programming library created to manipulate those files too! :->

I've also found this exhaustive list of software tools created to make modifications to "The Sims". They allow to modify data structures, objects' properties, string descriptions, icons, pie menus, game objects, textures etc. I've seen there some items about editing the animation data too. So I think the whole toolbox is already there, and making such a mod for "The Sims" is possible.

But of course this would need people (or ponies). I'm a skilled programmer, but not-so-skilled 3D modeller (well, I can model simple stuff, but ponies are not so simple for me) nor texture maker (I can do 2D graphics & draw ponies though, so it's not so bad). But my worst nightmare is the constant lack of time. So any help will be very welcome.

Anyone interested in trying to make this "The Sims" pony mod a real thing?

I saw in some threads on this forum some interest in "The Sims"-"MLP:FiM" cross-over. So I think it would definitely be worth doing. Whadd'ya think? ;-)

Any volunteers? :->

Aren't there somewhere already mod projects in development? Considering the size of this fandom and the need to ponify everything, it would be only a question of time.

Take a look the g-mod ponies. No doubt that there be will or even is somewhere a sims pony mod.

I don't know about any, and I don't want to play guessing games or wait with my hooves crossed hoping that somepony is already working on it. But if you know, here is a good place to tell us about that ;-) Just the facts please.

P.S.: What is "g-mod ponies"?

The Sims is very a modifiable game so it allows for people to create just about human character including a whole HUMANIZED equestria IF you want to do that (and i've often wanted to see if bronies could create and export these creations to get more of an online presence for such creations). But no you can't easily replace the whole "mesh" (skeletal shape) of the sims from human to pony. It would be cool if people could fan make something similar thats their own concept from scratch (and avoid takedowns from hasbro OR the sims creators) as sims houses look different then ones on the show.

See this thread for Sims Humanization attempts

Sims 4 is coming soon so who knows what that will bring in terms of detail, adaptability, and changes.

For G-mods you have actual pony 3-d models that exist in other games and are "direct-able" to make movies and such. Not for the Sims however but for other games.

My thoughts on this topic are very strong. I would love to have this happen, and if I could remember where I put my Sims 3 game, I would begin work immediately on this game. That is, if I could actually draw on the computer. :P

I would love for this animation to actually be a real video game. I'd play it alot :)

I used to play sims when I was a kid.. it got boring. But ponified sims never gets old :P

I have ZERO knowledge of knowing how to program, But I know some things about detailing. Like, ideas for themes or other crap if you ever assigned me anything.

But, I'd be happy to work with you in making a game like this. I would be honored in creating a MLP based game off of the sims.

Oh wow! This would be an amazing game! I would totally want to play it! :) I have no experience in programming/3D modeling/texturing so I wouldn't be much help, haha. :) I hope you get a good team together!!

I've actually seen this before, and I can see it downloaded pretty well if it was a mod! I only have Sims 3 throughout the entire series, and that would probably cost even more time modifying than the original. This mod really should happen! :pinkie:

Dear God humanity is lost yes and I hereby confirm 'the legends'.In times like these I'm 'proud' to be raised in Satan's country because I'm overused to lies, deception, hipocrisy, stupidity, etc.etc. and not the least-true evilness,so I'm more aware of 'traps' laid just about everywhere by every1.

I'm not saying Yudhaikeledai is 100% a liar, but what are in fact, the pro and anti arguments?Cause to me it's quite obvious that his works are in fact a game itself, and I'll write down all possible scenarios.

1-Its an actual full game, and for whatever reasons,he wont admit it.The ones playing it are him and possibly a few friends. He's not giving the game for other reasons as well, could be financial or Hasbro-related,dk.

2-Its a game, but not finished, still in the works.Or just a mod,a very good one Sims-based.He may want to buy time with his videos, not sure of further future intentions.

3-It may well be just an animation, but in this case,I must admit,he&his team are very good.To make it  feel so game-ish,i will admit-they fooled me well. And it's not 1st April.

Anyway my mind is set 4 now-it's a game.Probably the best ever made.Ponies? I found the series above avg.Sims? I played only a bit some years ago and it felt weak. But to combine these in such an original pony shape-just brilliantly done.

Regardless of what others might think,I dont think I made any insults. And just to try and convince me otherwise, feel free and give solid arguments,or Yudhai himself can explain how he made it.Above all others,ep.4 made me sure of the 'game'.

And I do live in nr1 evil so-called-state,esotherically,is 4 real.

I admit to secretly hoping to be a deception.4 this to be 'just' an animation, would prove big skills, but also be heart breaking.Whatever the case,I'll survive.I'm used to go through tragedies in my life.

I feel like I need to make some small 'adjustments' to earlier post.1st,I'm not sure exactly of what is what,it looks like a game but there's no game anywere and everybody seems fully convinced its not.2ndly,it would be a tricky thing to make a mod out of sims, even if it resembles the first. So either its not a game, which is hard to accept and sad,or this guy is both a genius+trickster, meaning he's done the game but its his only.

B4 I was around 99 to 1,now I'm more like 50-50 or 40-60 sure of anything.

Assuming it's not a game,I'll just have to ask the specialists, surely  alot of people  are thinking as well,to try and make this a game. It's beyond everything I played/saw etc.Not even ag3 can compare to a would-be game like this, similar or identical to the 1 YK has made. And yes he should be in the 'team' as well,he has some ideas for name/details and stuff.
