movies/tv Scenes in anime that really touched you?

Okay, in just about every anime, there's just that one scene that stays with us. Sometimes, it may make us shed a few tears. Or maybe feel an abundant amount of joy. Or maybe, think about our own actions in our own life.

For me, it was the scene in DBZ where Vegeta admits that Goku is better in him. This was a sign that Vegeta would turn out to be good. Yet, after the Majin Buu Saga was done, Goku and Vegeta were still rivals and still fought. But that one scene just completely touched me in a way that I can't describe. It made me think twice about being prideful in situations and thinking that I am perfect. Well, nobody is perfect in this world.

Also, another scene that touched me was from Pokemon, when Lucario sacrificed itself to save Mew. Tears were running down my face in that scene, for I loved Lucario and didn't want him to die.

Anyway, what scenes in anime touched you?

The final scene of "Neon Genesis Evangelion". It's a happy ending and makes me still shed a few tears of joy everytime I rewatch the anime.

Many people dislike the original ending. But actually it's great in its own way. No action, no final encounter, just the protagonist, Shinji Ikari, who is finally able to stop hating himself and embraces himself how he is. Something that requires a lot of strenght.

The Death of Genkai scene from Yu Yu Hakusho. Leading up to it, they gave gradually more obvious hints that she would die, but this still surprised me.

And of course, Yusukes wake.

The scene in the last episode of Death Note where Light finally gets caught and he says "When I first got that notebook all those years ago I had to do it. No. I was the only one who could! I understood that killing people was a crime, but there was no other way! The world needed to be fixed! A purpose given to me!" it was a great scene from the best episode of Death Note and it really touched me.

Hmmm...let's see. I suppose I can think of a few.

  • In Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood when the brothers realize that the Chimera is the little girl and the dog mixed. It was pretty messed up and sad.
  • Again, in FMA: Brotherhood when Winry was about to shoot scar, and Ed stopped her.
  • In Death Note, when Light is running away from the warehouse dying. He knows he lost. I found this especially sad, since he threw his whole life away, and I think he realized this.
  • In the Pokémon movie when ash was turned to stone, and Pikachu started crying. So damn sad!

There are many scenes in animes that really touched me, but I think the (for me personally) most touching scene was the end of Wolf's Rain. I love the song which plays in the background, but every time I listen to it, I just want to cry.

For those who want to see it (the part I mean starts at 2:42):

Warning, this does contain a spoiler, so if you've not seen Madoka Magica yet (get to it!) then don't look any further ;).

I find this scene in Madoka Magica to be....sad. My eyes swell with tears at this scene. With how hard Homura has tried to save Madoka, she has to keep re-starting, re-experiencing it all over again, after again, after again. You really wont know how sad this scene truly was unless if you've seen the anime/read the manga.

I'm just going to say Yu Yu Hakusho did it a lot, especially the scenes that show the main cast really do care about each other in their own weird little ways.

Oddly, one of the villains gets a scene like this. When Sensui lays dying the speech he gives is almost touching. It almost sounds like he found some kind of atonement in being defeated by someone who could prove him wrong about humanity being damned.

In Naruto, the fight between Gaara and Naruto, with all the flashbacks to Gaara's childhood. Always makes me cry.

In Elfen Lied, this scene.

@, That one too is sad, but I convinced myself that Lucy lived after the ending.

In any case, every time I watch the anime in full, I cry at lots of scenes.

Spoilers ahead for those of you who haven't seen "Trigun".  You have been warned!!!

The last five minutes of Episode 23, "Paradise", were some of the most moving I've ever seen in any anime.  Nicholas D. Wolfwood's death was not only one of the most beautiful, tragic, and moving scenes I've ever seen in any anime (and probably my favorite scene in all of Trigun), but in any genre of movie or television period.  The Christian imagery and symbolism, the pained reflection from Wolfwood on his achievements and mistakes in life, the friends and loved one he's leaving behind in Vash/Meryl Stryfe and Milly Thompson, and the ambiguous peace he ultimately finds in accepting his fate and (perhaps) finding satisfaction in his life, it's all just executed perfectly.  On top of that, some of my favorite moments in "Trigun" besides that one followed as a result of Wolfwood's death, such as Milly's heartbreaking sorrow immediately after at the very end of the episode (seriously, who didn't want to give that adorable, usually bubbly and chipper character the biggest hug after losing the man she'd just begun to openly love) and Vash's moving breakdown in the next episode at the beginning in a town square whilst eating donuts, pushed to the edge by the death of one of his closest friends.  Taking all of these elements into account, this scene easily qualifies as one of the most moving I've ever seen in any anime.

Spoilers ahead and I don't know how to work the spoiler thing. So read at your own risk.

There are a lot of different animes that make me feel sad.

In the movie Summer Wars, when the family is battling Love Machine and then the whole world just comes together and offers up their avatars so they can beat him. That is just a sad scene and it show that the world can come together.

In the K-On! movie the song at the end the girls play for Azusa was very cute. It also show the good times they've had together. Not sure if they did that in the show to. I just saw the movie and have not seen season 2 yet.

The last episode in Smile Precure, when the girls beat Pierrot, they have to say good bye to their friend Candy. It was sad because Candy was the one who brought them together and now they have to say good bye to their most important friend.

There are other parts, but these are just parts that are resent to me and they are one I remember well.

I can think of so many... so, so many. There are many great animes and mangas and they tend to stir emotions a lot. AT least for me.

One scene I can always think of and love for almost 15 years now is from Cowboy Bebop - Ballad of the fallen angels. If you know it, watch it again, if you don't, watch it anyway, it's not really having many spoilers.

But there are many I can think of. Trigun, Clannad, Rurouni Kenshin, Code Geass, Wolf's Rain... I can't continue, because I would forget something and feel bad later.

I have two.

From Cowboy Bebop:

The death of Mad Pierrot. Throughout the whole episode Pierrot is a frightening murderer seemingly invulnerable to all attacks. Then, in his final showdown with Spike he sustains his first injury and is immediately reduced to a hysterical child. As heartbreaking as it is disturbing.

From Neon Genesis Evangelion:

The whole damn thing.

Not allowed to do that? Fine. Rather than mentioning one of the dozens of iconic sequences everyone knows about I'm gonna take this opportunity to highlight a scene that doesn't get as much attention: The bit in episode 2 when Shinji encounters Gendo in the elevator. The elevator doors open, Shinji and Gendo stare at each other for a brief, charged moment, then the elevator doors close, Shinji choosing to wait for the next car rather than stand in the same room with his father. No words are spoken. It's quick but highly effective, and demonstrates director Hideaki Anno's knack for economical storytelling.

There's plenty of others but I'm way too lazy to type them up. Describing scenes, or at least what makes them special, is surprisingly tricky.

The last 4 episodes of CowBoy Bebop really gets to me. Esp the part with Edward and Ein. The other epiosde that got to me is when Faye sees the Beta cassette where she declares "Don't Forget, Don't Forget, Me, Me, Me!"

That breaks my heart every time.

Another anime that gets to me, but not in a sad emotional state but an excited fascinated state, is Paranoia Agent because of its amazing take on Insanity and Madness :3

the last episode of the first season of Pokémon...

Wait...wasn't that the episode where Ash had to say goodbye to Pikachu or something, but Pikachu ended up staying with him. I don't know if that episode was earlier in the season but still.
