web Twitter: Good or Bad?

Twitter is a widely popular social media site, allowing you to post up Tweets, humorous or creative ones, and even posting up pics and videos from YouTube. Its traits are offset by its cons; Twitter also contains a number of unseen hackers/spambots that takes the liking of making other Twitter users angry, or even impersonating them and sending others false direct messages (DMs for short).

 

With that said, love it or hate it, share your opinions on what you think about Twitter.

It's meh. I have one but I never use it. Honestly, I spend more time on Facebook, the forums, and Youtube more than I ever would on Twitter. There's a stupid character limit on how much you can type out as well which I find stupid and annoying. It's definitely something i would never spend more than 10 minutes a year on but I don't hate it. It's quite easy to be banned on...I know from experience on that. I don't have a single follower, so....I don't bother with it. It's bad in the spambot way but other than that, it's just boring.

i like twitter. tough i must admit that i am pretty addicted to it about now.

it's just fun. especially if you have lot's of friends on there to chat with and stuff. and i actually never encountered one of the spambots you mentioned.

I learned that social-networking sites aren't my thing. I guess I'm considered anti-social in real life and facebook and twitter are more for people you know. That and I used to get around 100 e-mails a day from facebook and that's just annoying.

I mostly hang around Facebook, since everyone I know uses Facebook instead of Twitter. It would be lonely going on Twitter, with no one to chat to.

 

I prefer MLP Forums over Facebook though

I have no real opinion on Twitter. I only joined it because I wanted to join the Twitterponies RP.

 

But I will say that I don't really like the default Twitter, because it feels somewhat limited and it could be somehow better. But if you go and download a program like TweetDeck then things get much better.

 

I do, however, hate all the spambots and all those who send a random link to Celestia knows where just because I or someone mentions a certain thing. It's highly annoying.

I think Twitters crap personally: it's like a half heated attempt at Facebook or something: I just don't get anything from going on there I do have an account but I spend far more time on Facebook.

 

Maybe I'll grow to like it like I did Facebook but have to wait and see: so far I'm not so fond of Twitter

For me, Twitter is only useful for keeping up to date with the ones who create Friendship is Magic, so the writers, voice talent, etc. I am not fascinated by their personal lives or anything, I am not one to obsess over 'celebrities', but I do like the potential of hearing about any news in regards to the show, whatever it might be. Kinda pointless because anything important will go to Equestria Daily in about 5 seconds afterwards but meh, live updates! Woo.

I love Twitter because it is essentially bite-size Facebook status updates without all the extra added on stuff I don't use. The character limit makes people get to the point and you can just use Twitlonger if you absolutely have to go over  Plus I think the layout is very nice and simple. It is easily my favorite social networking site.

I don't exactly like Twitter since, I spend my time on the forums more than I spend on any social websites. Besides the only thing Twitter is good for is to just find celebrities.

Well, considering the fact i don't have an account on it my opinion is slightly invalidated and not well supported, but here we go.

 

Really and truly its nice, it can serve as a means to communicate to others, or to have something to entertain you while you wait doing, well wait for whatever it is your waiting for ;p. Or just be entertained.

 

Its nice to have to keep up with different companies or people that you want to keep up with, i personally would find it more useful for following companies or people so i could get updates and news from that, but aside from that idk.

 

I find facebook better as far as actual social contact is between friends, but twitter allows communication to others you don't know.

 

It does have hackers and what not, but so does alot of sites frankly. 

 

So it depends on how its used, it could be a good thing or a bad thing, if used correctly or incorrectly.

 

My experience hasn't shown any of the bad, but again my opinion is unsupported due to lack of exposure or experience to twitter.

 

I don't really have any big desires to use it right now, but its not like i'm against it. I may make one in the future, but not really with the intent of being popular, just keeping up with people i feel like keeping up with.

The good? If your a big hipster and enjoy knowing what your favorite celebrities or establishments are doing, you'll enjoy it.

 

The bad? If you hate most mainstream, celebrities, and don't care what their doing what so ever, this is not for you.....

I think twitter is terrible in and of itself. Forcing people to use 140 characters just encourages terrible spelling and grammar and shitty memes like "yolo" and "swag", both of which seem to attract the biggest of douchebags.

Twitter really isn't my thing. I will be honest, I did make one, but after a week I got bored of it. Nothing to do but follow people that say stupid stuff. It's only *fun* when your famous really. In my book twitter can just fly away and never return.

I used twitter for a very short period of time. Then I decided to delete my account because I didn't see the point of keeping it. I hardly make status on fb. 

 

I've thought back and fourth to maybe creating a new one just to follow the voice actors of MLP on twitter because I know they've got them but seems like a silly reason just to make an account that goes unused otherwise. So meh.

I really don't like ti but It can be very useful later on as a majority of people use the social service.In any case it can give a rapid response to those who wants to know whats new or happenin with whatever your doing.

I use Twitter for a purpose. I work for a team called JWSevereWeather. We are a group of Meteorologists/Scientists and Storm Chasers.

 

We mainly use Twitter for Chase days, Weather model checking, Google+ Hangout dates. Training Dates, Warnings and Watches. All kinds of things. But we also use it to share pictures. Self, Weather.. you name it.

Though the major downside to Twitter is all these Direct Messages going around with these stupid links that lead to your twitter getting hacked. Mine has never gotten hacked because I know what they are.

I was never really a Twitter guy myself. It just never really clicked with me. Also, our school wants us to follow all of these twitter accounts for school updates, and apparently if we don't have a twitter than "too bad, make one." What if I don't want one? Also twitter, like most social medias can be a personal thing, I don't want to associate it with school stuff. Anyways, I got a little off topic there, but my point is I dislike twitter. My mom is freaking addicted to Twitter, and I'm sorry I just don't get what's so great about it?
