Just relized something about the Equistra games

In the episode sonic rain boom we see we find out Pegasus are the only kind of pony for the most part that can walk on clouds.

 

Now later on in games ponies play (i'm likely one of the few people who liked that one)

we found out cloudsdail lost the right to hold the E.G.

 

And it hit me.

 

If they held the equistra games in clouds dail

wouldn't they lose 2/3 of spectators?

 

I mean yes twilight was able to find a spell to get to cloudsdail for earth and unicorn ponies.

 

but how readily available would that be for everyone else?

I mean i'll bet you the great and powerful trixie doesn't even know that spell.

I'm pretty sure the walking on clouds spell is a pretty c common place spell that any unicorn would know about if they were to participate in the Equestrian Games.

 

Perhaps it's just a plothole but then again isn't there land in Cloudsdale that isn't clouds (Wonderbolts Academy)

That's quite possibly the reason they lost the right to hold the games there. It's probably just a plothole that was glanced over by the writers, but at least it's a plothole that is still canon.

Hmmm, that is quite an interesting observation.

 

With Pegasi and Alicorns being able to walk on clouds... the possible show watchers do fall only to them. And that is a quite law number of possible watchers. I bet they would find some way to magically protect the unicorns and earths so they could still attend (probably using some sort of shield?), but still...

 

Would it be rather uncomfortable for them to watch like that? What if somepony would be left out, unintentionally?

 

I would personally love to see how they would do it, but it does appear to be great issue, considering Equestria Games seem to be rather popular with all types of ponies.

There is the question of whether Cloudsdale is in fact all cloud. The Wonderbolt Academy was mentioned as being 'in Cloudsdale' wasn't it? Or am I remembering something that didn't happen? That was actually on solid ground, just a long way up.

I forget if Cloudsdale is actually all clouds after Wonderbolt Academy but it doesn't matter because I'm sure ponies have technology to keep those unable to walk on clouds still be able to watch.

The equestrian games is several days long (maybe)?  The spell lasts what 3 days?

even if you could get enough unicorns (and pay them ) to cast a spell twilight sparkle had to look,

i wanna stress that, twilight sparkle,

the Pony of magic didn't know this spell of the top of her head, makes me thing it's not that common.

 

Not to mention suppose you could hire enough unicorns.

Wouldn't they still lose tickets?  I mean it's in the sky.

Another thing that just occured to me is that most places build stuff to host a game. The pegasi of clouldsdale would probably build a whole new arena lower to the ground for the event.

Actually, unicorns should actually know the walking clouds spell since that is the only way that unicorns and earth ponies can walk on clouds. I guess that's why they can't host the Equestria Games in Cloudsdale.

between, the 3 tribes. if all 3 are competing then all 3 should be able to host it, regardless of how difficult it is. (plus why would they let them even run for hosting the games in the first place if it was impractical.)

Yeah pretty much that.  IF you'll notice rainbow dash as a kid is the one who's the most shocked, maybe the adults understood "yeah that figures."

I think someone made a comic about that. 

 

Still with this being a big event, they might be able to use unicorn magic to bring up a stadium that is equipped with all the things they need. Also cloud walking spell could be used. Or maybe get a stadium and put some kind of floating rocks on the bottom so it can fly.

if i were any better at writing i'd give it a shot because it does sound more fun

 

I'd probably have cadence trying to snipe harsh whinney only to miss and keep hitting somepony else, Harsh Whinney's trip back to the station is much nicer than her trip from the station so that when cadence catches up to her she changes her mind without needing to be zapped. Leaving the Cadence with having to clear up the city wide orgy her misfired spells have created.
