Tired of the show's "focus" on the mane 6 all the time?

If you focus on too many different characters it becomes hard if not impossible to give them enough depth and focus. I'd rather they just focus on the mane 6 than try to have many many different characters get the spotlight resulting in the show become bloated with pointless characters. 6 is enough as is.

Well they could involve background ponies some more. But we have had quite a few CMC and spike episodes so it isn't mane 6 all the time.

However I could ay that it would be nice if they gave more screentime to secondary characters AS LONG AS its not forced and has a purpose

We dis agreed, things got elevated, (lets not do this here, i refuse to get banned before that back ground pony episode shows up so i can rule that day).

I think that's the mistake the moderating staff made a remark about it being trolling, when i'm pretty sure you meant your side of the argument,

Like, Scootaloo is playing with Rumble (Thunderlane's brother). Then Thunderlane comes in and start doing pony things that should be relevant to the episode.

Well Celestia is a big part of the show and Lunas had her own episode some what in Luna Eclipsed so don't see why not?

I think a mix of episodes for secondary characters would be good this season. Most of the episodes this season should focus on the mane six and the two story arcs, so that the focus isn't shifted away from that, but it wouldn't hurt having a few episodes centered around secondary characters. No more than 3 or 4 though. I also don't think background characters should get an episode. The background characters should stay just fanon, with maybe a few speaking roles in a few episodes, but nothing more than that. The secondary characters need more development,and it'd be great to see an episode around a secondary character. I'd personally like to see more Big Mac, Cheerilee, Luna, the CMC, Spike, and probably a few others.

I agree that the background characters shouldn't have that much to do with the show as that would really be awkward with the storyline... The fanfics people have made are outstanding I might add though.

 

Maybe for secondary characters such as Luna, celestia, zecora, cheerilee, so on and so forth they could do something with. Although they have certainly have done this in a couple past episodes.

 

Like I said before episodes such as: daring don't, Luna eclipsed are excellent examples of what I am talking about. I just want to see a few more episodes in the future like this. Season 2 did an awesome job at the add a great variety to it.

 

The mane six episodes are perfect only its that when they start neglecting a certain character within the mane six is where problems arise.

If anything the show focuses too much on some members of the Mane 6, namely Twilight, Rainbow and Fluttershy, and completely neglects or does a lackluster job of developing Applejack, Rarity, and Pinkie. Its only a rumor but I've heard that Season 4 will have very little if any Rarity episodes, which is quite a shame considering that she probably gets the least development AND screen time of the Mane 6. How can fans be expected to like an already misunderstood and unpopular character who is now being deprived of even more development? Season 3 was bad enough but this is a slap to the face for Rarity fans.I understand that Twilight, Rainbow and Fluttershy are arguably very popular characters but the former 2 especially need less focus outside of major plots for now. They're the Mane 6 not the Mane 3 folks.

 

I do understand where you're getting at though. Supporting characters like the Cutie Mark Crusaders need and deserve their own development as well, but it can be a tough balancing act finding room in the limited episode slots of each season. Its also possible to have a few episodes on the background or new characters but that would be a last priority or they'd otherwise be incorporated with the main or supporting characters like the CMC

It's been confirmed that Rarity will be getting multiple episodes.

 

Personally I think this would be a good breakdown:

 

2 episodes each for each of the mane six, Spike, and the CMC. This includes episodes where another smaller character gets decent exposure- family appreciation day was CMC episode with good Granny Smith development, for instance.

 

2 part premiere- ensemble or twilight focused

2 part finale- ensemble or twilight focused

6 episodes - anything goes. Could be a "pair" episode a la Fall Weather Friends, could be an individual apple bloom/sweetie belle/scootaloo episode, could be an ensemble episode, could be just a pure supporting character episode.

 

I think that's basically the mix of season 2, except that had 1 full rarity episode and 3 for Rainbow Dash, and 3 CMC episodes instead of 2.

I would rather them focus on the mane six. Maybe a princess episode and important secondary character or something, and some CMC( I love them so much ) background ponies? Nahhhh. I find them to be rather pleasing to look at every now and then for designs and colors, but overall they're just fillers. Having them in an episode that's relevant is fine, but if they were in an episode solely based on them I probably wouldn't watch it. Especially if it lacked the mane six. Just my opinion though.

I never had a problem with the show focusing on the six main characters, that we know and love. I have no problem with the writers focusing on Celestia, Luna, or Discord at all since secondary characters are either in the background, not in the episode at all, or they're mentioned but not seen.

 

Look, we can get tired of the focus but it won't change for a while unless Hasbro turns their attention to the Cutie Mark Crusaders or any secondary character for a while. It's not a problem, really.

There was Sleepless In Ponyville of course that was almost as much a Rainbow Dash episode as a Scootaloo episode but yes other than that nothing really. As far as the CMC any episodes about them is welcome and I would like to see more of Babs Seed as well.

Well, I don't think they can do an episode without one member of the mane 6 in the episode. They back-ground pony can be the main character for the episode or helping one of the 6, but just background would not work. We can't just start an episode, with some random character that no one know about.

Not at all, after all, they are the main characters, but having side characters like the CMC is always good as well instead of the usual.

 

But with the rising greatness in season 4, I would be down in seeing an episode focused on someone we haven't got to meet properly yet like Octavia.
