Band's that broke up that you still listen too

So I got to thinking there are a couple of bands I still listen to today even years after they had broken up. Long forgotten bands that maybe no one has heard of.

One of those bands were the Explosion and they released 3 albums before they broke up.

Their music was featured in games such as Tony Hawk's Underground 2, Burnout 3 Takedown, and Midnight Club 3 Dub Edition. 2003-2005 perhaps one of my favorite times in gaming.

Another band that broke up that I still listen to would be JET

They also made 3 albums then broke up unfortunately and I loved this band.

Breaking Benjamin is a band that made me sad that they broke up... every single one of their albums I have and I grew up listening to that band.

What are some bands you still listen to that have broken up a while back?

uh, the Beatles? They count, right?

Of course you could but I was trying to go for some bands that maybe no one has heard of "underground bands" in a sense. Everyone knows who the beatles are.

Like for instance The White Stripes 1997- 2011 they were a fairly new band that broke up really early.

You could throw Flyleaf in there as well their lead singer Lacey Sturm left the band. She was one in a kind beautiful voice.

Another band that broke up too soon was 3 days grace. You could also include Nirvana as well.

I remember this song from long ago. Funny how Soul Coughing's albums got some pretty good reviews but they didn't sell and the band didn't stick together

I just got through listening to this and it sounds pretty awesome I must say!

Here is another band from around 2004-2005 era that I loved a lot but they disbanded

They said they got back together back in 2011 but their facebook page remains idle from what I have heard.

Breaking Benjamin

Wait a sec.

Breaking Benjamin broke up?

How did I not know this?!

Gosh dangit, and I liked that band too...

So for me, I guess that it's Breaking Benjamin, Sex Pistols, My Chemical Romance, Nirvana, Queen, and Ramones. Three Days Grace as well I think, since their lead singer left.

Pretty sad that Fall of Troy broke up. They had a pretty awesome album.

That was a total bummer. It seems like all the bands with interesting, innovative sounds tend to break up too soon.

The Smiths. They're one of the only bands I know of that, A: broke up many years ago (1987), B: never got back together and C: are still capable of reuniting because all the members are alive. Led Zeppelin and The Stone Roses both reunited but The Smiths remain the great exception.

Disturbed. Still one of my favorite bands ever.

I dunno if they count as "broken up" since it's technically just an indefinite hiatus but I suppose it's not any different if they never do it again.

Also, dunno if they are still doing things or if it was a one time thing (not that savvy on music info) but Demon's & Wizards too, that project from Blind Guardian and Iced Earth.

"underground bands"

The White Stripes

I chuckled a bit.  You aren't very underground if you get on the radio.

This band was together for less than a year, only played four shows (one of which I was lucky enough to attend), and released a four song EP.

Light This City

They were so sick at Robot Mosh Fest, I still have one of their shirts.

They didn't break up, there's just no more original members in the band. :P

Lmfao isn't that what'd you call a break up? Heh I wouldn't go see em live again. Once you lost your original founding members things usually don't go so well...

Sentenced: A depressing but also soothing and great band from Finland. Their guitarist died years ago from an alcohol induced heart attack, which end the group sadly.

Mechina: A fantastic metal group that was completely underappreciated and unknown apparently. Their time in the industry was short lived.

After Forever: Awesome symphonic metal group. A shame that they split up but Floor is now with Nightwish and she fits there perfectly. :3

Those are a few that I can think of right now.
