Sochi Olympics hotel fails

Apparently, the hotels in Sochi are very cruddy. Here are just of few of the "amenities" that they offer.

I'll bring more tomorrow, I've gotta get some sleep.

No these are the media hotels, the Olympic village was ready. The only gripe were the toilets. (See post #4)

I was watching the Jon Stewart show and he was making fun of the Sochi hotels.

 

Apparently the water in the hotels that comes from the sink is a brownish color. Also the residents of the hotel are told not to put it on their face as it contains something dangerous.

 

Really? These Sochi hotels look kind of ghetto. I heard Russia spend an ungodly amount of money on the Olympics too. They couldn't put just a little bit more of that money towards the hotels? :okiedokielokie:

Apparently, that "very dangerous" thing created that color water after they got the plumbing back on. At least we know what "danger face water" looks like now.

Frankly it is ridiculous, but russia prefers spending what little it has on bullets rather than clean water. In soviet russia don't drink the water, eat the the yellow snow insted. it won't kill you,,, hopefully

It doesn't look like Sochi has the best of conditions...

 

If this is what the hotels are like well, Idk about the rest of the place...

 

Maybe i'm just a spoiled American, although I prefer my water not pee color.. Just saying...

 

And the bathrooms being together without separation wouldn't be that bad or awkward for most in the mens room as long as you know your just peeing.

 

Now if your a girl or not just peeing well... Then it might be a little bit more awkward...

 

Oh my, what if they don't have men's and women's bathrooms separate?... I hope at the very least they did that, otherwise things would suddenly be alot worse..

 

Oh and i heard about that Olympic dude getting stuck in the bathroom, good thing he was a strong athlete and could break down the door lol.

 

The menu looks interesting ;p. As well as possibly fake.

 

And the elevator thing could be fake, or maybe its just that whoever was doing it wasn't that fluent in English.

 

I don't have any pictures, but apparently the hotel rooms don't lock. And some people didn't have door knobs.

It does seem like they didn't spend quite enough time or money on the hotels around where the Olympics are. Oh well...

 

Atleast i'm not hanging out there, I don't have the money to head over there, nor the will to give up my spoiled life over here. ;p.

From what I understood from early articles, this is largely the product of the budget being squandered by corruption, and the city simply not having the budget for it to begin with. I don't mean to take nationalism to excess, but...jeez, just host the rest of the Olympics in the USA and Britain from now on.
