Just as the title implies, what are your thoughts on it?

gambling1.jpg

Personally? I hate it, not only is it an addiction to keep on playing whether you win or loose, but no matter how well you play or rank in the casino, you'll always have about the same amount as you began in the first place! DX

That, and I consider myself lucky when playing these type of games, but most of the times, I stop instantly after one game because of how much money I tend to put in if I continue, especially if I loose that said amount.

Pretty much the main way to go bankrupt in a night's notice. Personally, I don't like it.

Gambling can be fun as somethings aren't worth playing if there isn't at least a little element of risk involved.

That said, it is up to the individuals involved to have control over themselves to not become addited and make bets they can not afford to make.

I find gambling as just a way for Casinos to make big wads of cash. It is like going to Main Event or a party place, when you feel like you can do a game but then you end up wasting all your money on it. If somebody wants to blow their own money on losing at games, then let them. If I ever went to a casino, all I would try would be a slot machine, and I'd only try it once. The point of luck is to actually GET lucky.

It depends, I playscratch tickets sometimes, and I usually win. My rule is if I win more than I spend, I don't buy for at least a month. The amount I buy is really eratic, like I havent bought for 3 months, but sometimes I'll buy like 20 bucks worth in a week. As for the casino, only if I go, which is rare, and I only spend like 20 bucks on slots. I love playing 21 and Poker, but I only play games where the pool is small or you don't even have to bet. I think it's funner to gamble on a game of Magic anyways.

I've heard casinos/other legal gambling called a necessary evil. If you ban them, all gambling will be done underground. It's like it was with alcohol prohibition, people are going to do it, so you might as well make it legal and make money off it.

That being said, I would never do it. People don't just give money away for fun. If the odds were in your favor, then gambling wouldn't even exist at all.

I hate playing poker without the Gambling aspect. The issue is that, since there are no stakes, no REAL losing... people play overall worse. Which sucks. I want to play others that are putting something on the line, as that usually gives a better game.

Things like Slots or Roulette though... I can't dig them. There is very little logical skill involved, let alone against another. There really is no appeal to me there.

Yeah, If you are lucky.   Truth is the games are designed around chance, and the majority of the time you will lose.  You see this mostly in slot machines and roulette wheel.  That is how they make their money.

Now having said that, responsible gambling I have no problem with.  I play the State Lottery every week. That is gambling.  I pay 2$ in the hope that I will walk away with 2 million.   Does that happen?  To me no, but to some yes.

Then you have the games based  on a bit more skill.  Blackjack and Poker. There are people really good at those games that play them for a living.   All in all, If you set aside what you are willing to spend gambling. Example  say 100$, and when that base amount is gone you stop, then you are fine.

Know your limits, know when to stop. If you can't do that don't play at all.

the way i see gambling is that it's a game with stakes. the goal is to leave with more than you started. you do this by only spending so much of your money or until you have at least 50% more than you started. then you quit the game. you should never play for the money, just as away to spend a little cash and enjoy yourself. I personally love to gamble. but i never bet more than I'm easily willing to lose

Gambling among friends or family with pretend money can be fun, as can simulated gambling in a video game. However, I hate actual gambling - just as with any addiction, it can destroy your life if you allow it to.

While money is by no means the most important thing in life, it should still be treated with caution and prudence. We need money in order to live comfortably in society. The idea of greatly increasing your wealth via gambling is poisonously alluring, but the risk of losing your money is far too great. It is far better to not gamble and to maintain your financial security, even if you are not always able to purchase what you want to purchase as soon as you would wish to be able to.

I don't like gambling at all. I can understand if it was a guaranteed loss (you go into a casino with £100 and say I can afford to use this fora  bit of fun and not to try and win), which it basically is, but it's so badly portraid as something that could make your very very very rich easily, you just need a bit of luck!

That I hate. It causes addictions and makes people lives worse because of the promise of making them better.

I no longer gamble. I had a mentally crippling gambling addiction when I was 18 and it took the better part of two years for me to realize it and act accordingly. Now I no longer put myself in a position to lose money. I don't buy lottery tickets and I don't even bet a couple bucks with friends and family on sports games anymore. I have no problem with the idea of gambling. I don't think it should be illegal or anything like that. I think of it the same way I think of marijuana: I have no interest in it, but I won't begrudge anyone their right to indulge.

Life is a gamble. Every day we take chances whether we know the odds or not.

If we're talking about betting money...well I gotta say that it sounds like a great way to make some serious cashola if you know what you're doing and don't allow yourself to go below your cash limit.

It's kinda dumb to think someone would take more money to gambling than they have when they wouldn't go to the store and spend more than they had either.

If people want to bet money and watch themselves waste their lives with gambling, I say let them.

But if you want to do it moderation, then it can make you feel better and try to be careful when you're trying to make ends meet. Take it easy! ;)

Moderation is the key to everything. Also priorities. If you're struggling to make ends meet, you definitely should not be gambling. If you are comfortable with your bankroll, then by all means gamble for entertainment.

Gambling should be seen as a form of entertainment, not as a legitimate means to possibly make money. I've been to Las Vegas 7 times now and each time I've only brought what I could reasonably part with if I did lose. I enjoy it.

If you're into probability, statistics, and game theory, gambling can fulfill that part of your passion too.

It's fun when done in moderation. My brother has won hundreds from occasionally gambling at a casino. He said it's a ton of fun. I plan on heading to the casino every now and then when I'm old enough.

Games where the odds are stacked against me aren't appealing, especially when there are dire, real-life consequences to them. Going to a casino and risking the money I need to survive on a slim chance of increasing it instead is a frightening thought and more often than not is going to leave me broke. The odds are too stilted for my liking. Had I the disposable cash that a few of my bosses do, that would be different. One of them bought a brand new Corvette on a whim when his old one lost a street race. Losing a few grand would devastate me whereas he wouldn't bat an eye. If you have that kind of money, I wouldn't have as much of a problem with gambling. Still I personally couldn't help but think of all the ways I could put it to proper use instead though; throwing away money at a poker table when I know of people people struggling to pay their rent or feed themselves leaves me with a sinking feeling in my gut.
