gaming A new SimCity! (2013)

I love SimCity a lot. The original SimCity 2000 was the first game that I ever purchased for a computer. I spent so many blissful hours playing that game. I played SimCity 3000 and SimCity 4 as well. I completely skipped SimCity Societies and everything that came after it though. It just felt more like a "The Sims" type game and less like a city simulation.

I'm really happy to see that they are making a return to the good old days with this new SimCity game for 2013. Just looking at that video, the game looks so amazing... I hope that I will have a computer that can run the game by the time it is released. I don't think that my current one could manage.

I have Sim City 4 Deluxe Edition, but I've always been terribe at it. I have never gotten a city to really get running. D:

However, it's neat that the series is being revived. I didn't think it ever would be after Sim City Societies not doing so well. Especially shocked to see Maxis back. Now they need to reclaim The Sims series as well.

I only ever played Simcity 2000 for like ten minutes once and I hardly remember anything.

I'm gonna have to get Simcity 2000 off of PSN to try that out and then this new one coming out if I like that. Knowing me though I probably will. I like games like Civilization so...yeah :P

so happy they actually have ZONING! I hope they do not let EA mess this up like spore TT_TT

Zoning has always been in the Simcity Game (minus societies), they were at their peak in 4.

GIVE IT TO ME

I am saying the same thing, better install SC4 from steam soon!

They say its because they believe the technology today is fine enough to make a simcity that they always wanted to have. I really hope maxis puts all their love into this! Its so exciting, this and guild wars 2 will control my life XD

Eeyup

I need to play the game again

I had SC3K but it wrecked one computer (new computer at the time and old game= crash)

Then reinstalled it on an older computer until I swapped for SC4, due to performance issues with my computer. my biggest city had about 380,000 sims until sadly, my brother installed a game that wiped its memory. -_-

Totally going to try again! :D

Worth the wait for the next year!

Dude, I never thought anypony else other than probably myself would drag over a chunk of the Simcity gawkfest from Simtropolis and literally just plop it over here.

Despite my own personal scepticism (and following Tarkus's own), I too am feeling quite excited about this, and so far I'm feeling quite impressed.

Of course I've already known about the gawk for some time, and it's of an even greater significance to me considering one big thing: I am a member of the Network Addon Mod Team, the same exact team that brought to you the NAM, RHW, NWM, and so much stuff. Why else would I go around leaving scars and collecting my jar of hearts? with a hard hat with a weird cloverleaf-y symbol on it?

My biggest concern was how would the NAM Team, and for that matter, all of the existing SC4 modding teams, react to this? Is it the beginning of the end, or the beginning of a new beginning?

I, for one, will forever hold onto SC4 for the sake of nostalgia, and I'm sure there will be plenty of nostalgia players. And personally, I even wanted to try out the past three Simcitys. Closest I ever got was SC1 and a demo version of SC3K.

But truly I would go ahead with SC5. That and Minecraft and the fact that I already overload my laptop should be plenty of an incentive for me to get a new computer, and the timing for everything is just about right.

My largest city hit 2,000,000 without cheats, but traffic was crappy.

And yeah. Thanks to NAM addon, I was able to decrease traffic woes. I mean, what type of city has severe congestion at 1000 cars on the road?

For this Simcity, they should better improve traffic mechanics by making cars not fade away so often and increase road capacities.
