Welcome to Equestria!

In Equestria, there are eight Pokemon Gyms, just like in any other region. Do you, Trainer, have what it takes to earn all eight badges? Challenge to find out!

Rules:

The process goes like this. Tag the gym leader you'd like to challenge in the thread. Set a time and date to battle. Both the Gym Leaders and Challengers can only use four pokemon in the battle.

The Challenger has to use the same four pokemon to battle each Gym Leader, unless one of the leaders ends his winning streak, in which case he gets to change his team.

The Leader can use whatever four Pokemon he wants, as long as his signature pokemon and one mega evolution are present, and his pokemon are all of the type featured in his gym.

Badges offered are in the form of pokemon. A ground type gym leader, with Krookodile as his signature pokemon, might give away Sandile nicknamed (G) as badges. So, since Primeape is my signature pokemon for the Fist Gym, I might give away Mankey nicknamed (FT), or if Lhee's Spine Gym is defeated, he'd give a Nidoran nickamed (PSN).

Once you have Eight Badges, you'll gain the opportunity to challenge the Elite Four. We don't have an elite four yet; As we recruit more Gym Leaders (We've already got two auditioning) we'll move people up to the Elite Four. The Elite Four functions much like a gym. You'll earn special pokemon badges as you challenge, and each E4 member will have a designated type. Elite Four Battles are Six on Six, and the same rules apply, only you have to use the same team for the entire challenge.

Trainers who defeat the Elite Four (once we have one) will be given a shiny Eevee. It won't be easy, though, so be prepared.

Some gyms are still being set up, so challenge the ones that are available. Set a time with the Leader using this thread.

We are hiring Gym Leaders! If you're interested, talk to Bard. One of the other gyms will move up to the Elite Four to grant you a spot.

Good luck, trainer!

This is still in the development stages as it is, but we'd totally accept anyone. If their gym team is approved after battling a leader, that is. :3

Well I'd also have to wipe my Nuzlocke game completely, restart the game, get through the game, then pull all the pokemon from my other games.

But I did think of a pretty nasty team!

I would wipe the restriction on having to have Mega Evolutions though. That just limits the possabilities.

If this ever becomes a thing, this is the team I'd put together

It's limited to one mega evolution. You need to have one on your team as a Gym Leader. And... How is that limiting? Most people would use one anyway.

Also, the Iron Badge, my Steel Gym is complete and ready to be challenged.

This thread makes me cry inside because I don't have X or Y. I'll just post here in case I do ever get X and feel like participating in this.

I bet my Charizard can beat your Charizard xP

It's limiting because you can't have a team without a Mega Evolution.

Say I wanted to make a team that was Piloswine, Lapras, Dewgong, Jynx, Glaceon and Avalugg. I couldn't do that, because I need a Mega evolution. I'd have to trade one out to fit in Abomasnow, which is the ONLY Ice type Mega pokemon. This makes everything more predictable. Also, X4 weakness to Fire is... ehh I try to avoid that outside of Scizor and Fortress.

EDIT: There is also the case of Mega Scizor, where his normal state + Life Orb is much preferred over him, as normal Scizor + Life Orb does way more damage for the price of defense.

*Shrugs*

You don't have to pick Ice type.

Also, there's like two other mega evolutions you can pick from for both of Scizor's types. Both of which are immensely preferable anyway.

This could be cool, of course I unfortunately don't really have a team together, or spend enough time playing to get one together in that reasonable a time.

I haven't even made myself a competitive team yet, i've been either to busy or to lazy one.

Maybe if i get the time i might consider joining.

Goodluck regardless.

Oh that's pretty cool. I have seen this on pokemon forums but... Well I hope this really gets off the ground (and stays off the ground). I might try to take on the challenge after I complete my team. This actually might give me a little more motivation to complete my team in the first place  :muffins:

Sorry, I was up until five training pokemon for my Fighting-type gym. I'll go into detail about the rules, put them in the first post too, and answer your questions.

Goodluck regardless.

Thanks, Zygen. Maybe the idea of a shiny Eevee will inspire you to tackle us?

-epicly grabs and spins Pokeball on hoof- I. Got. Dis.

Gym badges, here I come.

Okay! You have to choose a gym leader to challenge, establish this in the thread, and message the leader your friend code. After your battle, both the Gym Leader and you will post here to confirm results of your battle.

Sweet! If you wanted to become a Gym Leader as well, you're at perfect liberty to. Once we have eight different Gym Leaders, I'll allow Leaders to challenge each other. And they'll automatically have their own badge. But they mustn't feel obligated to use their designated type during their own gym challenge.

I"m getting X or Y really soon, hopefully and I'll have to get a team together, but in time I will hopefully take place in this!

This is an AWESOME idea and I can't wait to get started :DD

If you have teams from old games, you can always transfer old teams up.

I'm definitely gonna try out this challenge. should be fun

Go for it! Challenge your chosen leader publicly here, then start a private chat to give them your FC and stuff. Post your results in this thread, and Gym Leader will confirm.

What are the rules for team-making? Any restrictions involving the use of legendaries?

Yeah, all legendaries are blacklisted except for Regirock, Regiice, and Registeel. Any non-legendary mega evolutions are fine.

I haven't made a competitive team yet. I have enough Pokémon though where I could throw something together.

This sounds really fun! I'm totally up for the challenge! :D

Do it! We'll be waiting!

I would so get in on this, but my 3DS is not working anymore. Should have a new one within two months, around my birthday.

No hurry. No hurry.

Mkay. So, no legendaries aloud. That sucks. I need a new team.

Perhaps I'll just use the team I played through the game with for now...

Give me some time to figure out a team, and I'll be back to issue my challenge.

So gym battles are 4v4, huh? A little weird, used to working with 6, but I think I can work with that.

Hah, if only. Unfortunately, I don't have any monotype teams ready to go (despite monotype always being something I wanted to try) and I won't have anything like that ready anytime soon. I mean, I have some pokes I can sort of work with but I'd have to do a lot of breeding and leveling and whatnot, to get something presentable. I might try sooner or later but I got to finish this current team first (Which I'm very close to doing actually. Just have to do some leveling on a couple of the members and figure out what items to use).

Anyway, a few more questions: any rules regarding statuses (mostly just sleep), and evasion (double team, bright powder, snow cloak, etc), items, species, OHKOs? You know, the general clause stuff. It may seem obvious to some; I'm just being thorough.

While *cough* cheap strategies certainly aren't encouraged, I'd say that's really down to the gym leader in question. I'm personally not the biggest fan of either of those. Personally, any non-evasive item goes; sleep is fine if you don't induce the ENTIRE other team; Snow Cloak is fine, but please no double team or sand attack; no legendaries except the Golem Trio.

The legendary ban is regardless of whichever gym you're battling.

Yeah, 4v4. Once you make it to the Elite Four (and once we have one) then you can do 6v6.

You could always battle us for fun with your legendary team, but you wouldn't get in-gym credit for it.

I'm not sure about banning all legends. Pokemon like Mewtwo and Dialgia sure, but others like Entei, Victini, and Latios/Latias are still considered fair. Of course you can do whatever you want and frankly it'll be nice not having to worry about Genesect or anything.

And then there's Regigigas. Lmao.

But yeah, I agree that Uber teir legendaries should be banned. But there are still other legendaries that are UU or OU, which puts them on par with the likes of Porygon2 and Gengar.

Hey, that means I could put in Meoletta instead of Girafarig because Meloetta is UU. Hmmmmm......

Yeah, we discussed it, and decided that if Smogon considers a legendary not Uber, it should be allowed here. Stuff like Blaziken and Wobbuffet, that really shouldn't be Uber but apparently are, are allowed too.

Ok good cause otherwise I'd have to find another Mega for my team. Which I don't actually think there are...

Another question on gym types: Can you have a team member who isn't of your type, but will evolve into that type? Like, say, you have a Dragon gym. Can you have an Ampharos, who Mega Evolves into Electric/Dragon, but is only Electric itself?

Under the condition you DO mega evolve Ampharos that battle, yes, he's allowed.

You don't have to use Ampharos every time, though. You can swap him out for Mega Charizard X or Mega Garchomp if you feel like it.

We decided to allow some legendaries, just so you know. If it's on Smogon's Uber List, and it's a Legendary, it's not allowed. We're extending that to include Xerneas, Yveltal, Zygarde, and Diancie, since Smogon's out of date.
