Will John de Lancy still be in FIM in 5 years time?

I'm making this one separate,

because lets be honest,

discord is important enough to get his own thread on this matter.

 

Do you think Uncle john D, will be with us for 5 more years?

I'm skeptical.

Suppose Mr Delancy moves on to other pastures,

 

do you think they'd kill discord?

 

I mean they really can't replace Delancy.  (right?)  I mean I've heard some okay impersonations online,

but it's just not the same.

There's no way John DeLancie could be replaced imho.

Just like there's no way Tabitha, Tara, Andrea, and Ashley could be replaced. 

If, for whatever reason, one of those four ever left, I'm not sure that I could watch the show anymore. It just wouldn't be the same. I'm sure the replacements would grow on some people but for me, I just don't know that I could warm up to something like that.

As for John continuing to do voices on MLP, this isn’t a question that can be answered unless we have a time machine.

honestly after they started making discord a sort of more important character everything would fall apart at that point

Exactly.  John de Lancie is a recurring guest star.  He likes MLP:FiM and there's no reason to think he won't continue to reprise his role as Discord for years to come even if he works on other projects.  Let's just keep our fingers crossed that unforeseen events don't cause a parting of the ways.

I think so, remember almiral Zhao from avatar the last airbender? He was voiced by a big name like Jason Isaacs, who you might remember him as Lucius Malfoy. He made a cameo in the sequel and was once again, voiced by Lucius Malfoy, so,why not having Q voice Discord all that time?

He's an actor. He still shows up at Star Trek conventions, even though the show is canceled.

It's highly unlikely that Mr. DeLancie would refuse work without some very odd circumstance. As a guest star voice actor there's a lot more flexibility allowing him to work at strange hours and otherwise 'off' days, so it's easier to fit in to his schedule.

 

However, accidents do happen, and there is always the possibility that any of the voice actors may no longer be able to continue. For example Mark Hamill had to cut back a *lot* on his work as the Joker as he discovered doing that voice was actually hurting his vocal cords. He still does it when he can, but he has to be careful and very judicious with it.

 

So appreciate these VAs while you can.

 

Now, what happens if Mr. DeLancie *can't* continue for whatever reason? Due to the fact he's a recognizable 'famous' guest star, the character of Discord would likely get retired. Recasting is unlikely, unless some of the main cast also get recast due to similar issues. At which point we might get a reboot into G4.5 or G5 anyway.

Unless something bad happens to him (god forbid), I doubt he'd turn down the opportunity (and the money) to play Discord a few more times throughout the years. He likes the show, he likes the fans, and he likes the role.

I'll admit Discord was good in his latest episode but I still want him to get the fuck off the show because his character is ruined and they're only using him for fanservice. Don't replace the actor, get rid of the character.

As for now, Mr. D is here. Let's be proud of that. If he wants to continue after 5 years by all means, he will. But, if somehow he doesn't they will probably replace him with someone else. And for those of you who claim it won't be the same, would you rather they give Discord the axe, literally?

I don't know.  5 years is a long time to keep around that feels so important.

Maybe I'm over valuing him.  who knows.
