Title may change. Anyway, this is again the triumph of hope over experience, as all RPs I start here die.

 

Plot has been decided on (thanks Cinderscribe and Malinter for your help!) and is detailed below. It's now ready for people to join; I'd like an even mix of feral and regular ponies, please. I will play extra feral characters if needed, but would prefer other people to play some. XD

 

Rules:

 

1. Alicorns - accepted on a case by case basis. I don't want too many, and will reject any I see as overpowered. Cuz too many people were submitting alicorn characters, gonna disallow them. Sorry.

 

2. Please provide a link to your character on the database, and also what group you want your character to be in.

 

3. Please please please can everypony who joins this RP Pinkie Promise to keep posting so it doesn't die!

 

4. No Mary Sues or Gary Stus, please. Try and post a good bit. Would like at least five in each group, but don't worry; if you come here and a group you want to be in is full, just ask and I will more than likely let you in. XD

 

Plot.

 

Beyond the Badlands of Equestria lies a little known area of land. There grows a unique plant known as Equibane. It is rumoured to increase magical ability, both in unicorns and non unicorns, and it does not grow anyplace else, not even in the Everfree. A picked group of ponies is chosen by Celestia and Luna to go to the place where this plant grows, gather a sample, and bring it back to Canterlot so it can be thoroughly examined. However, the area where Equibane can be found is dangerous land, for many reasons, one of which is a group of wild cats who live there. Another reason... is going to come as a complete surprise to the researchers.

 

A tribe of feral ponies also live there. Many moons ago, hundreds of years in fact, a similar group of researchers was sent there to carry out an ecological survey of the area. These ponies could not resist tasting the leaves of the plant Equibane, and that led to their downfall. The plant was highly addictive, and caused the higher intelligence of the ponies to wither away over time. However, its positive attributes also happened. All the group of ponies experienced greater magical ability, strength and height. The pegasi lost their ability to fly from being so big and strong, which meant that along with their addiction to Equibane, the ponies stayed in the area. Now their descendants roam freely. They fight with the big cats, and are openly hostile to strangers. The plant Equibane is eaten as a matter of course, and the ponies can no longer remember why they and their ancestors started eating it in the first place.

 

Now this new band of ponies is being sent there to investigate the area and bring back samples of the plant Equibane. What will happen when they meet the tribal ponies?

We've seen tribal ponies in the show.  So they don't have to be feral per-se but just very, very hostile to outsiders. Plus if they possess no cunning beyond instinct they're more or less going to get owned by your RP'ers.

@@Malinter, Very hostile I can work with. The idea is not that they're completely insentinent, I was just mainly thinking of them being sentinent and hardened to fighting, both for survival and for territory.

@@Malinter, I figured that a mix of unicorn, earth and pegasus would be best, so as to have a good chance at subduing the group; otherwise, would be a bit onesided as all the group would have to have to be better is one unicorn. XD I also thought that the ferals would have no cutie marks.

You make it that a plant these tribes eat is what makes them so aggressive and hostile. You could make it have effects like the earth ponies that eat it become freakishly big or make unicorns have naturally stronger magic. It also raises the possibility of it having these effects on your RP'ers.

 

It also gives a reason why all three types are together, these ponies exist outside the unification of equestria so they would not trust the other types and remain in seperate groups.

@@Malinter, That's a fantastic idea! A plant that they eat, well, that makes a lot of sense. Could affect the others if they eat it too. Maybe as well it affects pegasi so that they end up not being able to fly, cuz that would explain why these ponies stay in this place.

The feral ponies we're talking about: there could be a bunch of interesting ways to go about it, but how about (very loosely based off) mass effect approach - a plant that appears edible (and might have some wonderful effects, like increasing magical ability, even for non-magic users - but is addictive and causes decay of higher intelligence over time? They could have started out as just regular folks and ended up as these dangerous 'tribal' ponies though a mixture of eating it and their environment.

 

It could even be that the plant is recognised for its potential usefulness, and the players are sent to gather it: they could be completely ignorant of the ponies until they get there. The ferals might even be descendants of another group of ponies sent on the same expedition hundreds of years back.

Hrmmm.... I don't know who to submit! Probably Symphony as a feral - her psychological issues would be a result of the plant rather than her upbringing.

The basic premis is that a small group of ponies are hoofpicked by the Princesses to explore a previously unexplored part of Equestria, located just outside the Badlands. They soon find out that a tribe of feral ponies live there. These ponies live like wild horses do in our world; small herds consisting of a group of mares and one stallion, and bands of young stallions together. They're lean, used to fighting for their lives from the various wild cats who also live there, and completely uncivilised. They don't recognise the picked band of ponies as friends, but as enemies so take them prisoner.

 

That's all I have so far. So, anypony interested? Any ideas to flesh it out? I thought maybe that a precious artifact could be located in this area and that's why the ponies are sent to explore it.

Aquaspark would be good as a hoof-picked pony for the Princess. In the massive Twitter RP Group of like 1000 people, she is a guard for Princess Twilight.

I'm an alicorn is that ok? Well I'm sorta one but I shapeshift (I can't be a different pony, I just can be a Uni, ali, peg, or earth. I usually stay as an earth or pegasus.) and my horn doesn't work. I basically use it for show and if it does, I get hurt. All i can do with it is shoot lasers and lift things lol XD I can change color and light up. I make a mean stand up comedian. Id like to be in the research group.

@@Technicolor_Pony, I don't think your character really works for this RP, sorry. A shapeshifter just seems a bit overpowered, especially with alicorn-ness on top.
