gaming Are shiny pokémon becoming too easy to find?

So i've noticed a lot of attention on shiny pokémon lately. I think it is becoming a little bit too easy to get shiny pokémon. We already have the Masuda Method, Shiny Charm, and the Friend Safari. Now when I see someone with a shiny, I just think "oh look.. a shiny. whatever."

Remember back then when having a shiny pokémon actually meant something? It was like having your own little trophy.

Don't get me started on the people who hack their shinies. :okiedokielokie:

Easy, yes. They really should put up a challenge on finding them.

Okay then. You try breeding a shiny Pokemon and tell me how many PC boxes you fill before you finally get one.

Is it easier to get shiny Pokemon? Yes, but it still takes awhile. Even with Madusa method you have to get your hands on a foreign Pokemon then ride around on your bike for hours until you get one. And good luck getting the shiny charm as it requires you to complete the entire National Dex (minus a few event legends)

I stand corrected. I guess it sounds easy to get them, but it takes a lot more to actually breed them and look for them.

I haven't played Pokemon for a long time but according to the word around the classrooms shiny Pokemon have not been to big of a deal.

You can lead a horse to water but you can't make it save equistria with its five candy coloured friends and shoot rainbows at bad guys using their necklaces and tiara unless you're celestia

Easier? Yes, I suppose it is. But even with Masuda Method, the Shiny Charm, the Friend Safari and all the tips and tricks, the odds are AT BEST perhaps around 1 in 200. And that's not one shiny every two-hundred pokemon. It's a .05 chance every pokemon. So even then, the odds aren't great. And mind you, those high odds only come up after a lot of hard work.

Shinies are absolutely still remarkable. Especially if they're fit for online competitive play. Most shinies have awful IVs and are therefore useless online. If stats aren't perfect a pokemon hardly stands a chance in the competitive metagame.

So yes, by all means, show them off still. They're still rare enough to bother collecting, easily, and there is absolutely no reason to not use one if you get its stats up. It still feels like it means something, it still feels like a trophy, especially if you worked hard for it.

In all of my time playing Pokemon, I have not found one shiny. I haven't really looked for them, but still.

I don't mind about them being easier to find, but in my times it was almost impossible to catch a shiny pokemon, I remember spending hours looking for shinies and I think I caught one, just one! Sometime ago my brother catches a shiny ditto after having Pokemon X for just a week and I went like "Whaaaaaaat?! See bro, in my times..." Then he told me the shiny pokemon appeareance rate was increased and that explained it all. Last Pokemon I played was HeartGold so, yeah, game has changed a lot. And yes, I think it is easier to find a shiny now.

They're still a pretty rare find (legitimately, that is) even if it's become a bit easier. Honestly, I never had that much interest in shinies since many of them look kinda ugly :X

I'm not sure. I haven't found any in X and Y yet. I tried the Matsumada method in an attempt to obtain a shiny charmander. After 3 boxes full of Charmanders, I got tired of trying and quit. I then wondertraded them all away. In the process of doing so, I got a shiny Flabebe. :D

It used to be a huge deal. It was awesome getting one.

Well, I have absolutely zero shinies in X&Y, but my sister has 7. I guess either you find them, or you don't/

Considering I ran into (and caught, of course) three in X, and never did in any of the previous games (which I've played one of each version over every generation), ...Maybe. lol

In all the Pokemon games I've ever played (I own and have beaten every gameboy game released in the US), all I ever got was the Shiny Garados in Lake of Rage in Gold/Silver/Crystal...but I shouldn't count that because EVERYONE has the chance to get that....I have never met a shiny pokemon in the wild, ever....So I personally think shiny's are the "holy grail" of Pokemon because I hear so much about it, yet never have encountered one.... :(
