What would you change about the Fandom?

I would want the obnoxious part of the fandom to change how they view the show and the way they introduce the show to others without shoving it down people's throats. A new step for change.

This is the reasson I see a lot of hate towards the fandom, but people just don't seem to understand, shoving something down peoples throats will cause hate.

Most of the fandom is great, and there are more people that are considerate about what they do. Just the odd few who make life difficult.

The scapegoating of cloppers and the "dark" side of the fandom: I can understand this stuff not being everyones thing but is it really necessary to try to treat them like lepers? The only difference between cloppers and other fans is what they decide to do in private and the same goes for the various other fandoms and their R34 sides.

Less people treating the show like a religion: this is a good show, but is still just that a show. I am tired of all of these people who get butthurt and panic whenever a few people do something stupid or when some bronies decide not to conform to their arbitrary standards of what they think a brony should be. And using "love and tolerate" as a weapon to demonize people they disagree with is also irritating, that is the nature of a fandom is for people to have different opinions about things and so long as those opinions are respectful than there should really be no problem.

Yeah, that's the point. They never learn or understand why.

1. This fandom doesn't have as much pornographic content as a lot of fandoms, but a little less wouldn't hurt. It is a kid's show, after all.

2. I wish some bronies weren't so forcing and or unpleasant with their pride of MLP. I've encountered and my non-brony acquaintances have experienced at least one person being too arrogant and or condescending with their bronyism.

3. I wish this fandom wouldn't freak out over silly things like NSFW (both gore and porn), and haters. I gotta admit, a lot of bronies can't take slack and or less than admirable content. It's everywhere, It's gonna happen, and it should just be accepted and not fought, because that can't happen.

For me, more pride!

It would be great if people took the title of brony with gusto! Not the obnoxious kind, but just the almost patriotic feeling of being a part of such a great community and idealogical group!

I agree with this, but society does not. I went through a fair amount of work to hide my identity due to some of the people I know, and I've seen how they would react. I'd love to see a world with less judgemental people :)

I can answer this in two easy statements.

  1. No stereotypical neckbeards who are highly visible in the public eye to tar all of our names
  2. No fedoras

That's all I need.  :)

Well, my advice would be to take their judgment in stride. Welcome their slings and arrows, it only means you are doing something right!

Buck the crowd! Be your own man!

Popular background characters need roles and speaking lines.

More Princess Luna & Princess Cadence.

Some individuals are going around the Internet shoving ponies into random ppl's mouths, calling ANYONE who don't enjoy pony stuff a hater. That's very rude and is one of the reasons why our fandom receives a lot of hate.

I hope they can stop shoving ponies into random sites, at least not that frequent.

Add some more fight scenes (the one at the wedding was really good)

Few more subtle jokes for older people

Remove any ideas for any and all shippings, outside cannon (or just all outside Shining Armor and Cadence).

  • 1 year later...

I was watching a video in YouTube about some guys saying that the brony fandom was a bad influence and whatnot. Of course, there were several bronies commenting and defending the fandom as well as the show but there were some that were agreeing with those guys and adding some other facts to their discussion.

I want to hear your opinions and thoughts on this.

I for one, think that the only thing that needs changing is the power that stereotypes has and what it can do to change a person's way of thinking..

What do YOU think its worth changing?

Getting rid of it. If it never existed i would have never known about this addictive show. I pushed away my family. I sanctioned myself. I spent all my money on ponies. I'm broke and friendless, and I'm constantly in withdrawal. Ponies ruined my life.

I don't think i would change anything ^_^

Eh, there's really nothing I can think to get rid of that'd actually benefit from. Even the parts that piss me off

The only thing I can think of is to find a way to calm down the the select few over-the-top Bronies that end up making the entire fandom look bad because of the stupid things they do.  We don't need to get rid of them because everypony who's interested in the fandom deserves a spot and I'm not targeting the rreeeaaaallllllllyy huge fans that tend to make the talent a little uneasy due to their 'dedication' to the show.  I mean the ones that end up on the news and makes it look like the entire fandom goes and paints horses rainbow colors in order for their lifelong dream to come true :okiedokielokie:

Well... Off the topic about Brony: Little Girl Ratio, a PDF was given that said how bronies were more open to things as their life went on (Other then for Males 40 years of age XD). There were other neat things too I found. In short though, the fandom and not living in it both have negatives. And about all the negative, inappropriate fandom? That needs to go, but I will continue to ignore it. ^.^

Honestly the only thing I would change is the amount of misanthropy that seems to run as an uncomfortably large undercurrent of it's patrons. The thought seems to be that the Earth and humanity are lesser before Equestria, that the ponies and their world are immaculate when compared to sinful humans on our damned Earth.

When truly Equestria and the ponies are likable because they are flawed and more human than past generations who had not even a semblance of ill will or fallibility. Is "Pony Land" really what comes to mind when most think of Equestria?

  • Victim complex- While true intolerance does exist, the world is not out to get us.

  • Art purists- I'm not a fan of a lot of that stuff either, but the whole "purge the cloppers" mentality needs to stop. I've also noticed that many of these same individuals are not so considerate when it comes to using their pony avatars, pony website banners, pony bumper stickers, pony t shirts, and pony everything else.

  • "Serving the fandom"- I've basically been told that if I'm not manufacturing propaganda on Deviantart, I shouldn't call myself a "brony." MLP is being treated less like a children's television show and more like the basis for some weird totalitarian state.

  • Taking things too seriously- I've seen MLP used as a model for everything from LGBT pride to white nationalism. It's really kind of creepy.
