But MTV made a brony documentary. How do you feel about this? Do you think this will effect the public images of us at all?

Well, this, combined with the embarrassing light the fandom was cast in because of the official Brony Documentary a while back guarantees I'm never telling anyone about my liking this show. No way I'm gonna let myself get typecasted as a stereotypical brony, like the ones these documentaries show off. I want people to keep hanging out with me and not thinking I'm creepy or weird or childish, which is the vibe these sorts of documentaries cast on Bronies.

Yea. It just seems that for the sake of views and drama, they intentionally focus on the negative aspects of this fandom. They never cover the charities we run, or how even /mlp/ on 4chan raised 10,000 to help rape victims. Just said to really see it hammered in that the media cares more about drama then the truth.

Ha. On whatever second that they showed where they saw them watching the video with the ponies and everyone assumes this is going to be a brony documentary of some sorts. If they watched spongebob squarepants would the fans think it's going to that kind of documentary? No. It was just one second! People like to watch TV ok? Don't make a big deal out of it! Gosh! Listen, MTV is mostly watched my mindless teenagers who still don't know right from wrong, even if they should know it by that point.

Of course they would go for the autism joke. Why? Because if they did this with a fully-functioning person, people would find it less believable. Yes, My Little Pony is based off of a little girl's toyline, but that's no excuse to paint us a bad image like this.

 

I'm not trying to jump on autistic people. I feel bad for them. But, MTV should have better things to do than paint us a bad image.

I am on the Autism spectrum and I hate it when they do that shit so I get what you are saying, it is mostly because there are so many misconceptions about Autism that using it as a cheap insult like that is infuriating to me because it just dosen't help matters. Trolls and haters can say or do almost anything else and I will just laugh at them and move on but this crap makes my skin crawl.

Maybe I'm just too naively optimistic for my own good, but even if they are using this doc as an opportunity to smear a subculture they know very little about, isn't it still kind of a step up from the rest of the tripe that's meant to appeal to their troglodytic viewership? If there's even a handful of MTV viewers with an IQ above room temperature, perhaps they'll see past the bullshit and check things out for themselves as opposed to allowing themselves to be spoon-fed obviously biased opinions.

 

...Yeah, it's an obvious pipe dream, I know. Still, it'd be quite the sign of hope for our society if this obvious hate campaign backfired spectacularly.
