Yeah, this is the kind of thing I was talking about:

Every time I've seen any sort of discussion of whether Scootaloo should have had the chance to fly, it's always come down to "keep the 'late bloomer' line and let her finally bloom" versus "let us have ourselves a disabled character - what she does on her scooter is kinda sorta vaguely like flying, let her be happy with that". For reasons I can't fathom, it seems hardly anyone besides myself ever thought of keeping the "disability" part but letting her overcome said disability by way of actually flying (using technology firmly established to exist in Equestria). Seriously, what's up with that?

I just found out about Surrogate Scootalove Day. It turns out that this year, it roughly coincides with the release of the next Scootaloo-centric comic issue (#93), which is supposed to focus on her family with her parents coming to visit.

There's a fun coincidence if I ever saw one.

And then there's the "retail incentive" cover to issue 96 (which takes place in Capper's home town):

 

 

Hopefully, it's a sign that the comic is no longer under the influence of whichever mentally disabled individuals didn't want Scootaloo overcoming her disability. If we get one more scene of her wishing she could fly that isn't followed up with her learning that aeronautical engineering is a thing, I am going to start ranting like Linkara reviweing "Holy Terror".

This small, adorable tomboy. It took me a while to have her as my best CMC and put AppleBloom on the second place. But after understanding her much better her through "Sleepless in Ponyville" and "Flight to the Finish" she had won the first place. This even got intensified with Parental Gliding and Washouts. This small tomboy won my heart and any break she needs and most important my membership in her fanclub!
