  1. Ohai ther Kaidan! :3 Srs though, I love this story. It's weird that I never really liked darker stories until I discovered MLP. I love this story so much that it's in my top 3 best fanfictions after only the first chapter! It hits the darker tone without being rediculous, and holy hell can it be brutal. Octy's parents are just amazing in how ridiculous they are, and the entire thing can be thought of as an aligory for childhood stress and heavy expectations.
  2. Try out the free trial versions sometime. It's fun to just mess around with, and has a really nice flow between concepts, to recording and looping, and then tweaking in Arrangement. You can also just work like a normal program entirely from Arrangement, or just go into Session and mess about with MIDI clips and stuff. It's hard to learn, and fun to use.
  3. Hey. Just dropping in to ask about something that's been bugging me for a while. I'm enjoying playing with the knobs on the presets in Ableton, but does anyone know any good synth VSTs that would let me make my own waveforms? I'm thinking of things like Operator and Massive, but those are both a bit out of my price range. What would you guys recommend?
  4. Thanks man. It's nice to see that you're willing to go outside of your comfort zone. I'm excited to see how that would actually turn out.
  5. XD. If you want I can still send you the quote. I'd actually like to see that. Sorry for being so weird. It's currently 0:14 AM here, so i'm a bit blehhhhh and I didn't notice that in the OP you said you were doing OC's and not general requests. “Yeah, thats what you said.” Pinkie then proceeded to reach under the covers and produced her hooves again, this time covered in sock representations of Alex and herself. She began with mimicking Alex. “Pinkie, you’re my rival now, I bet you I can drink more cider than you can.” Pinkie lifted her other hoof and began using to mimic herself. As you can imagine Alex had to resist the urge to make a “playing with yourself” joke. “Okey Dokey! Whatcha wanna bet on, Crimson?”. She switched back to the sock Crimson. “I’m going to make you pancakes and you can stay the night at my place if I lose. If I win you have to teach me your secrets.” [/size]
  6. I refuse to associate myself with a religion. I like logic, but I don't completely disagree with the big man in the sky idea, either. I think religion is more of a barrier than anything else, and so I say "I don't care"
  7. Oregon's fine, if you like wet 3/4 of the time. It rains a lot here. The summers are phenomenal though. Just enough hot to be hot without being ridiculous. The rest of the seasons range from a mild cold to "my eyes are now frozen because I had them open too long".
  8. Thanks for the download. It's more centralized than what i've found from YouTube. Just one thing. What would you say is the biggest tip you can give to beginners?
  9. Well, considering how deeply people have been looking into this, they might have to make two more parts just to explain what the fuck happened.
  10. All of deez peoples need to get on my level. All my favorite fanfictions are meta as fuuuuck. Some recommended fanfictions you've maybe possibly never heard of. In descending order of awesome. Very, oh-so 1. The Secret Life Of Rarity, complete with it's two sequels. The stories are extremely gory at times, that's why there's the gore label. I'm going to be honest, the premise isn't too interesting. The premise basically sums up to "What if Rarity was a serial killer?" This isn't just all violence, though. The insight into the mind of a serial killer makes this story a great read, as the twisted morals mixed with the visceral gore and Sweetie Belle's place in the story, makes it an engrossing and engaging story in my mind. The sequels might even be better than the original, though. The sequels have much, much less gore, and more philisophical. The sequels revolve around Sweetie Belle and her daughter, respectively, as they endure the fallout of Rarity's past. Stories: The Secret Life of Rarity The Public Life of Sweetie Belle Broken Blossom TL/DR: Rarity becomes the most engrossing serial killer since Jack the Ripper. 2. The TDverse (or non-bronyverse as TVTropes calls it). By the same writer as The Secret Life Of Rarity, this is possibly the best Human-Insert i've ever read. I'm serious. This could rival "Through The Eyes of Another Pony". The only difference between the former and the latter is that the latter is a brony. The former is an avid non-brony. You can imagine the hilarity that ensues as the story goes on. Just to give an idea of the kind of comedy in this story, one of the first things that happens after Equestria is introduced is Celestia getting punched in the FREAKING FACE. YEAH. THE FACE. Stories: No, I am NOT a brony, GET ME OUTTA EQUESTRIA!!! Wanderings of A Non-Brony Breaking of A Non-Brony (spinoff, darker) TD's Little Rarity (The best MLD-style of story i've read besides MLD) TL/DR: One of the best self-inserts ever. 3. The newest addition to the list, A Puppet To Her Fame. I found this today on the FiMFiction front page, and holy balls this story is good. A blissfully sad story of Octavia's rise to stardom. There's only one chapter (albeit a long one), and the writing is truly phenomenal. The amount of cruelty in this chapter alone is just rediculous, and there are no words to describe the direction Kaidan has taken this otherwise happy show. It's still Equestria, but it's not a dark Equestria. It's only Octavia's life that's dark. Stories: A Puppet To Her Fame TL/DR: A dark story of Octavia's childhood and her rise to stardom.
  11. The plot hole revolves around the line from Celestia, along the lines of "you've created new magic." Basically, I find this to be a giant plothole because basically anypony could create "new" magic.
  12. I seriously didn't find any flaws in how they portrayed Twilicorn in Magical Mystery Cure, even before I watched in-depth analyses on why Twilicorn is a good idea.
  13. Yeah. It honestly doesn't matter to me. If it gets too far from winter, we could also do "A True, True friend". The point is it would be awesome. According to the Herd Census, the Pacific Northwest is a hotspot, so it shouldn't be too hard to get people. EDIT: The big thing is determining a location. I'm thinking the Saturday market over on the waterfront. Another thing is finding the time.
  14. How to art? I never really learned to draw, and i'm really regretting it now. It infuriates me. At least I can make music until I learn.
  15. Now, obviously we'd need to plan this pretty far in advance. Here's the cliffnotes version (I will update the details as they are agreed upon): Time: Unknown, needs to be planned by people Place: Portland, OR, unknown location (up to you guys) What it is: Winter Wrap Up. Complete with backtrack and full chorus (hopefully). Who we need: Singers for all of the Mane 6 at least, and some kind of choir (scrape up the bronies from a couple school choirs or something), Cameramen welcome. What we need: A kick-ass sound system and a large crowd, maybe a band if we can't get a good enough instrumental. If we can pull this off, it will be awesome. I've never coordinated a successful flashmob before. Also, if anyone's still got snow on the ground, we should coordinate a series of flashmobs, happening simultaneously Hopefully, if we put all the places on a map, they'll look like a gigantic smiley face. People have done this before, but never in a public area. Let's change that. /)!
  16. I'm swinging by Seattle July 5th-7th to go to Everfree NW 2013. Anypony wanna join me and bro up in a huge conglomerate? We'd need names, a place to meet up, and some things to do. Selfies would be nice, but it's by no means necessary. It's just a way to identify everyone. Either way, everyone have a good time! ~Mal
  17. I only brought up the dress because the overall transformation was satisfactory, even if the exact details rustled some jimmies. True. I've seen some rather stellar fanart of grownup princess sparkle. I just hope that this doesn't become a persistent problem, because it bugs me to no end.
  18. You don't need to tell me twice. Maybe once we all get over the gigantic learning curve, we can do one gigantic circle-jerk beginners collab.
  19. A brony by definition is anyone above the age demographic who enjoys watching My Little Pony. If you're more into the show, you'll go to places like My Little Brony and here. Bronies who create music, art and fanfiction are also bronies. In my opinion, that's the highest level of brony.
  20. I've already got the [NLR] clantag, so go ahead and hit me up. My GT is malao567, and i'm accepting to cool people. Some people are turned off by my personality, but trust me when I say i'm open to anyone. As for games, I have both Borderlandses, Call of Duty Black Ops II, and Halo 4. I'm only good at Borderlands and Sticks and Stones. I play games to have fun.
  21. Yeah, I see a lot of these "Bad" trends, sadly. Proper OC's are just as common, though. A good OC is just as normal as the person who made it. (This is the reason that I personally believe that people that are directly related to the show or contribute a lot deserve Alicorn OCs.) and has a relatable foible (for instance, my OC doesn't give a buck about anything, and is cocky as all hell).
  22. There used to be a huge amount of MLP comments on "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid", an awesome song by The Offspring, because Forest Rain released "Join The Herd", a song to the tune of "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid". It's died down since then, but the point stood.
  23. "Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday to you. Happy birthday dear Pumpkin. Happy birthday to y-" "WOAH WOAH WOAH? THE FUCK IS THIS?!?!?! FUCKING SPONGECAKE?!?! FUCK!!!" For those of you not in the know, it's this masterpiece of marketing (WARNING: EXPLICIT):
  24. I'd turn into a pony for the sole fact that my OC is a unicorn. For all of you who would be a pegasus just because of the fact that they can fly: remember this?
  25. Malao
