On other sites I have unfriended people for such reasons. The problem was not so much that they made too many status updates, but more that their updates made my other friends' much less frequent updates get lost in a sea of updates.

Actually I would get a milksnake myself. They are generally an easy temperament and easy to care for. They don't have a tendency to bit like some snakes do, and some breeders have given them some cool color combos for their stripes. Though if you get a snake, make sure you never handle a furry rodent or animal before picking them up. I you do, wash your hands before picking them up.
