I agree! Besides my love of Derpy, I think the following C.S. Lewis quote illustrates nicely why I was so mad: "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience. They may be more likely to go to Heaven yet at the same time likelier to make a Hell of earth. This very kindness stings with intolerable insult. To be "cured" against one's will and cured of states which we may not regard as disease is to be put on a level of those who have not yet reached the age of reason or those who never will; to be classed with infants, imbeciles, and domestic animals." The idea of moral busybodies ruining our Derpy to protect people that did not want to be protected because they loved Derpy too just BURNED me.

I found the comparison to cats quite funny. While I certainly do not find cats sexy, I find catgirls (nekomimi) to be very sexy: Do I find ponies sexy? No. They are our beloved Mane 6. I love them but there is no sexual attraction there. However, with that said, if I met a girl with Twilight's, Rarity's, or Pinkie Pie's personality, I probably would find them sexy. I guess there are different levels of sexyness. I know nothing about the girl in the above picture but just the idea of a girl donning cat ears is sexy (to me anyway). If a girl donned a Twilight Sparkle wig, I am not sure I would find that sexy. Cats, as brilliant as they are, do not hold conversations with you. So, a kitty girl is sexy because now you have a talking kitty. With the ponies, they already talk and have well-defined personalities. So, randomly making a girl look like a pony does not have the same effect since ponies are sapient beings to begin with. So, for me to be attracted to a "pony girl" she wouldn't have to look like them, she would just have to love the show and share similar personal characteristics with them. Did that make any sense? As I read up, I am not sure myself.

I drive a silver 2011 Subaru Forrester - not the sexiest ride around but I love how these cars handle in snow.

mega thread What are you doing at this very moment?

Trying to find more decent pictures for the Post a Picture of Yourself thread. -
Wow, look at all the deletes! Do someponies need the Elements of Harmony used on them? I am not sure what is going to happen to Derpy in the future but I am sure we have gotten Hasbro's attention. I have faith they will do the right thing. Seeing Derpy in the last episode gave me hope. I do not care how animation studios work, all I know is I now have hope and I want to hold onto it.

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Ok, I know that is not supposed to be a childhood movie but it was MY childhood movie. I watched that movie 84 times as a kid (yes, I kept count).

Those were my thoughts until I found MLP FiM and the Bronies. As it stands, I broke up with my girlfriend of 5 years awhile ago. It was hard but for the best. Now I think it is time to move on and find my very special somepony.

I need to take a more recent pic with MLP merchandise. But in the meantime, this one is decent. I am the guy.

I think the point of doing that again was to show that Rarity and Pinkie's tricks (that is really what they are) are not as effective as just matter-of-factly asserting yourself. Rarity's seductive trick failed on the Minotaur. Pinkie Pie's trick worked only temporarily (as in real life - that trick might work but the second the person realizes they have been tricked they take it back). Fluttershy coming out and calmly asserting herself without catch phrases, Looney Tunes back-and-forth, or seductive wiles won the day.

Really? Funny? I did not laugh at Angel's behavior - the first thing that popped into my head was, "if I was watching this with my kid, I would probably pause the episode just to say, 'do not ever, EVER, behave like THAT!'" Then at the end I would say, "See? Angel was being a meanie for no reason. The food Fluttershy was giving him was just fine just like the food I give you is just fine. Now eat your vegetables!" I agree and mentioned it in an earlier post. That was definitely odd. You would have expected all 5 of the other ponies to be there knocking on her door. Why would Rarity and Pinkie Pie keep that private? Maybe because they did not want the other ponies to find out how Fluttershy ripped them to shreds with her mean words? Hmmm...

gaming What is your favorite (S)NES game?
DrOphthalmos replied to Phoenix Wright's topic in Media Discussion
Wow, two ponies mentioning this game. I loved that game! I even beat it once as a dinosaur refusing to go mammal! So many good games... FFII (aka FFIV) with Rydia - my favorite Final Fantasy (though, I actually hated it on the SNES because if you turned on the system and it was unplugged, it has just enough power stored in it to erase your game!) NES+SNES = my childhood. I also played Atari 2600 before that but... blech. Except for Pitfall2, Atari games had no ending! I think the first NES game I ever saw was The Legend of Zelda. CLASSIC!- 60 replies

Kyronea, as I've said before, I love your walls of text. For anypony else, I would have thought TL;DR but I read yours. You do make valid points however I think saying Merriweather Williams should stop writing is a bit extreme. I know you don't consider this episode to be a success but read some of the other comments on here - lots of people did like it! Yes, it could have been done better if the show was longer but I think they did a good job with the short time they are allotted. I liked this episode to the point of watching it three times. In the end, if you try to please everypony, you wind up pleasing no pony. Merriweather Williams might not be pleasing everypony, but she is definitely pleasing someponies. As for technology, they are ponies and will use it or not use it as they please. Oh, and as for Angel - his slapping Fluttershy was very shocking. You are absolutely right - he was being terribly abusive. But then, I thought - wow, this would be a great episode to watch with a child because you can point out how WRONG Angel is behaving. Children are often picky eaters, especially when it comes to vegetables. Having Angel act like such a spoiled brat and being so obviously wrong, makes it easy to point out to children that is NOT the way to behave. Though, have fun trying to explain to a child the pros and cons of how Rarity and Pinkie Pie handle things.

gaming So what kind of games do you like to play?
DrOphthalmos replied to Nanodrive's topic in Media Discussion
I am with Jawmuncher! Except for sports games, I'll play just about anything. But as for what I am playing right now, I am still playing FFXI, Skyrim, Disgaea 4, and working through the Assassin's Creeds. I love my PS3.- 43 replies

I had a job - it was horrible. So this makes sense, I will tell you I am an eye doctor. My boss had me operate at our competitor's surgery center - he couldn't get it through his thick skull that they let him operate there only because they wanted to buy his practice once he retired. The competition treated me very badly and tried to get me fired right away by writing a letter to my boss saying people didn't want to work with me, I smelled, I said inappropriate things, etc. The truth of course was that they did not want me inheriting the practice and continuing to be competition for them. Well, I hated them right back - they advertised heavily how "advanced" their cataract surgery was but their microscopes were bought used and said WEST Germany on them. I could barely see what I was doing through those crappy antiques. When I had complications, I would tell my patients right away - that is what they considered "inappropriate." When they had complications (and I know they did because these botched patients came to me for a second opinion!), they LIED to the patients telling them everything had gone fine. Those doctors were unethical greedy monsters. The final straw was when my boss called me up on Saturday morning wanting me to go to a movie with him. My gf had just traveled 6 hours by bus to spend the weekend with me so I said, "no." At first he seemed fine with it but then called back and suggested his wife come over and entertain my gf while I went to the movies with him. Again, I said no. It ended with my gf and his wife shouting at each other over the phone and him coming over to my house to fire me. I was so HAPPY because I wanted to quit but it would have been harder on me financially to do so (had to do with the way our contract was worded). After a year of unemployment, I finally decided to buy my own practice. That too was painful because I bought it from a crazy doctor who thinks he is the center of the universe. I should have done my homework - he had already been in lawsuits with other doctors, had a reputation for being incompetent and drunk, and had been sued for sexual harassment. But now, as the BOSS, I got to fire him. I am making 1/10 of what I was making as an employee but I have never been happier. I know things will improve with time. What I learned is this: money is important, but having control over your own destiny is priceless. I salute army pony!

I agree completely. I have played with plenty of female gamers online and I am just happy to see people playing.

Then why can't I ever meet one in real life? All of my past girlfriends have NOT been gamers and it always leads to arguments. For max happiness, I think my very special somepony should be a gamer.
