  1. Good evening, everyone!

  2. This is exactly how I feel. I can deal with swimming pools at private homes, homes of people I know. But even then, only if there is no one else in them. I get all twitchy at the thought of sharing a pool or a water ride with thousands of other people. The temperature bothers me too, it's always warm and it just makes me think of how many people are in it. I understand intellectually that they pump it so full of chemicals that the water would kill a shark made entirely of AIDS, but I still can't do it. Roller coasters, on the other hand, I love. I ride the regular rides all day long and avoid the water park when I go to Six Flags.
  3. I could never do this. Not because of how it looks when you flush, but because I am obsessive when it comes to cleaning the bathroom and cleaning all of the obscure nooks and crannies of a toilet is difficult enough. Making it glass would mean having to spend even more time making it look perfect, because every tiny speck would stand out like it does on a window.
  4. A few years ago I would have said "doughnut" without hesitation. I still love them, but I can't eat chain store doughnuts anymore, they're terrible compared to fresh ones. I love bagels, though. Plain, poppyseed, onion...but my favorite are everything bagels. I like cream cheese, especially with chives, and there is no better item to serve a sandwich on than a toasted bagel.
  5. I think if you add maybe one or two more Rarity items to your bedroom, it will probably qualify as a convention!
  6. Good evening, everyone.

  7. I think Pinkie would be the kind of parent who was too lenient with her kids. She would pay a lot of attention to them; they would never suffer neglect or anything, but she might have a difficult time disciplining them. I think she'd eventually settle in to motherhood and be fine at it, but she's more suited to being the fun, crazy aunt. Fluttershy would likewise have problems being strict as parents need to, but we know she can be stern infrequently and her talent for caring for wild animals should serve her well. Rarity can definitely have moments of insensitivity, as we've seen with Sweetie Belle, but they aren't terribly traumatic and she always realizes what she has to do to remind her sister that she loves her. Additionally, all of her problems with Sweetie Belle in the show stem from her being busy trying to do stuff for others, so she is at least setting a good example. Plus, she helps a ton with raising her sister, so she has the experience. Twilight would almost certainly base her parenting style on books about the subject, but she would temper her reading with her own personality and be a loving mother, too. I think Applejack would be the best mother. She has considerable experience, strong family ties at home, a good work ethic, and is very kind and loving. Her children would learn the value of friendship, family, and hard work, yet still be able to enjoy playtime.
  8. Rainbow Dash, by far. I see her as the 'plop the kid down in front of the TV with some mac and cheese while I run to the gym' kind of mom. Not that I dislike RD or anything, I just think she's a little too enamored with her life of freedom and frequent laziness to be adept at taking care of someone else.
  9. Thanksgiving has the best food, Christmas has the best family time, and Easter has the best candy.
  10. Is anyone not afraid of clowns? I refuse to believe there was ever a point in history where they were considered anything but creepy.
  11. An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind, which would be really unfortunate because the ground would be just covered in eyeballs that you wouldn't see until you stepped on them.

  12. I hadn't heard this! I'm torn about how to feel. On one hand, yay, new Farscape. On the other hand, it's been so long since it ended that the film might not be all we expect. It could end up being terrible. I guess I'll reserve judgement while I sit in the corner and weep over the lack of new Firefly and Babylon 5 episodes.
  13. Maybe they all have the pony-version of whatever disease it is that stunts your growth and development, and they're going to be kids forever. Progeria? Wait, no, that's the one that makes kids age prematurely. Ah, hell, I don't know, I'm not a doctor of any sort, but you know what I mean.
  14. Hi everyone! Miss me? Of course you did.

I'm on a borrowed computer. Mine fried itself. I was sitting at the kitchen table using it and it literally began pouring smoke from the keyboard.

Nicee. My laptop did that when I was charging it one night, and smoke came out of the electrical socket :P

Of course, I saved the lap top itself, but it managed to get hit with ransom ware 2 days later, so meh.

  15. I do like the picture though, very well done!
  16. If Derpy had an episode, then they will have officially run out of all possible story ideas and should probably end the show.
  17. There is nothing I love more than a topic being locked while I am typing a detailed reply

      That always happens to me.

  18. I am like this about Star Trek. I am always thinking about Trek-related stuff...comparing situations I encounter in real life to Trekkish situations, reading Star Trek books, wishing I had someone in real life I knew who could talk about Star Trek as much as me, so I could have a real conversation about it...It's no different to me than people who spend all day thinking about drawing, or painting, or people who spend all day writing books or praying or thinking about what their future would be like if they won the lottery.
  19. Does trolling require intent? If I get a couple people's panties in a bunch with a joke and enjoy it, but didn't intend to do that when I started, does that make me a troll? I hope not.

  20. Humanity will end the way it has always ended. With a "y".
  21. Watch an episode of Mike and Molly, that should be enough to put anyone to sleep.
  22. I read this morning in the paper (I live in Connecticut) that he's being charged as a juvenile. I don't agree with this, as it means he is likely to be released while still relatively young. 16 years old is plenty old enough to know that murdering someone is wrong, and whether he has simple rage problems or psychological issues, he needs to be tried as an adult and put away for more than just a few years.
  23. I was being a troublemaker and moving all of the Bibles in Barnes and Noble to "fiction". Thought the employee was going to yell at me...instead, she laughed, we talked, and she asked me to dinner

  24. I find the humor in everything, including things that other people consider crass or tasteless. It's my way of coping with the horrors of the world. However, there is a time and a place for these sort of things, and people should understand that they must live with the consequences if their humor is ill-received. For example, many people enjoyed my terrible pun in the thread about the boy who murdered that girl who turned him down for prom. I made the joke, as I said, because my way of coping with the myriad tragedies of human existence is to make jokes. However, I made that joke in an online thread containing a link to the article. I wouldn't make the joke to the parents of the innocent girl who was killed, because that would be awful. There are always going to be people who are offended by jokes about murder, or suicide, or dead babies, or anything else. If they are offended because they are offended, I just say "tough". That's life. People joke about terrible things as a way of not going insane with grief about the state of humanity. On the other hand, if someone is offended because they have a personal experience relating to the subject matter, I will apologize for offending them and move along. I also wouldn't make the joke in the first place if I was already aware of their experiences. I feel the same about celebrities who make tasteless jokes. I remember Gilbert Gottfried was fired from AFLAC because of some shitty jokes he made on Twitter following the Japanese tsunami. While I wasn't offended, many people were because they condemn that sort of humor. While I have no problem with it, I recognize that actions have consequences and he would have known that. I wouldn't have fired him, but given the public perception of tasteless jokes, I can see why AFLAC made that choice. I also believe that the tasteless humor defense does not apply when you are clearly using that to (unsuccessfully) mask true bigotry, such as when celebrities or politicians or even regular people make horrifically bigoted 'jokes' about race or religion or sexual orientation or gender. There is a huge difference between, say, a waiter making a joke about black people not tipping well, and that same waiter making a similar joke while cursing, using the n-word, and following it up with "don't worry, just kidding". And lastly, while I know it is somewhat hypocritical, the one thing I never joke about is rape. For many reasons, though I know and have heard rape jokes that would be considered funny, I don't tell them, especially in comment threads attached to articles about rape. I have made jokes about murder, suicide, terrorism, child abuse...but I just can't bring myself to joke about rape.
